Tottenham will be looking to make it three wins in a row to start their new Premier League campaign when they host Bournemouth.

Spurs welcome Bournemouth to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday in what likely a trip that the visitors are not eagerly anticipating.

Spurs have been outstanding so far under Thomas Frank, with Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Manchester City at the Etihad a real statement performance and result from The Lilywhites.

However, as we saw against Liverpool, Bournemouth are capable of being a threat to any side in the Premier League, and Frank and Co. will be aware of this as they aim to keep their 100 per cent start going.

Supercomputer predicts Tottenham to beat Bournemouth

With Xavi Simons potentially making the move to Spurs, Frank looks to be assembling a squad in North London more than capable of finishing in the Champions League spots at least.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Danish manager is also getting the best out of the players he already has at his disposal, with Richarlison starting the season in fine form for Spurs and being one of the standout players in the entire top-flight.

If Opta‘s supercomputer is correct, you would back the Brazilian to get himself on the scoresheet again with Spurs predicted to win Saturday’s encounter.

Tottenham historically do well against Bournemouth

The Lilywhites and Bournemouth have met on 16 occasions in the Premier League.

Spurs have won 10 of those meetings, drawing three, whilst also losing three.

It is hard to envisage anything other than Spurs extending their dominance over the Cherries, given their scintillating start to the season and the fact that they are playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With Fabio Paratici’s return resolving Spurs’ frustrations in the transfer market, hopefully, the Spurs’ faithful could be set to have plenty of reasons to be optimistic with the new season still in its infancy.

Description

Tottenham will have to pay a hefty sum to ensure Xavi Simons arrives in North London this summer.

Tottenham halted their interest in Simons earlier in the window to pursue alternative targets.

But with Morgan Gibbs-White extending at Nottingham Forest and Eberechi Eze snubbing Spurs for Arsenal, the Lilywhites are scrambling for an alternative.

Tottenham’s top choice is Morgan Rogers, but Aston Villa are determined to keep him. This leaves Spurs with little choice but to reignite their interest in the RB Leipzig star, but he could come at a heavy price.

Xavi Simons could cost Tottenham £100million

Daniel Levy is meticulous when it comes to his finances at Tottenham and is usually unwilling to compromise.

MORE SPURS STORIES

But the demands of the transfer window are changing. Players who would have cost £20million five years ago are now priced at £50m. With the numbers being thrown around as of late, it seems the chairman is willing to change with the times.

As reported by Matt Law via X on Wednesday, 27 August, Chelsea has been his preference. But with that move stalling, the doors could open for Tottenham to hijack Simons from Chelsea.

However, the deal would be expensive not only in a £60m fee but also in wages. Nevertheless, Leipzig are open to selling the midfielder.

According to Capology on 27 August, Simons earns a £5.8m base yearly salary at the moment. On a five-year contract, including his potential fee, the former PSG star could cost the Lilywhites £89m.

But if bonuses are added in the deal, which currently stands at £3.4m, he could cost Spurs over £100m over five years.

With this in mind, a £55m fee for Mohammed Kudus from West Ham seems like a bargain.

Where would Xavi Simons rank among Tottenham’s highest earners?

If a figure similar to his current wages at Leipzig is agreed, Simons could rank among Spurs’ top earners.

Cristian Romero currently sits in first place on £10.1m per year, while James Maddison is at £8.8m. New signing Joao Palhinha is on £7m per year, and Rodrigo Bentancur is on just £3.9m.

This would place Simons just above Maddison if bonuses are included. As a new, unproven recruit, this is a sum which could spark outrage among Tottenham fans.

But with less than a week until the window closes, his price may be a barrier too high to overcome.

Tottenham are desperately trying to add to their squad ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Lilywhites are keen to continue to strengthen their ranks despite a hugely impressive start to the Premier League season, which has included an away win over Manchester City.

Spurs have lost James Maddison to long-term injury, and his absence, combined with Son Heung-min’s departure, has left some holes to be filled in the final third.

Thomas Frank and Co. are keen to bring the winger to N17, but they will have to act quickly if they are to get a deal done before Monday’s transfer deadline.

This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham scout Bryan King.

Tottenham urged to pull away from Savinho deal amid £69m demands

Tottenham have shown a sustained interest in Savinho, but they will need to splash the cash in order to sign him, with Manchester City having now placed a price tag of around £69million on the youngster.

The Citizens are not keen on the idea of selling the winger, let alone to a Premier League rival.

As a result, the Lilywhites look likely to face yet more transfer disappointment, having also missed out on the likes of Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo already this summer.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Spurs given control to City with these failures, and should end their pursuit as a result.

“Is Savinho the best Spurs can get?” King said.

“I’d question that, I’m not sure he’s a Tottenham player.

“I think the fee is excessive, it’s a lot of money to spend.

“But, the selling club are in a strong position, because they’ve been watching Tottenham struggling to sign players for big money.

“I don’t think he’ll turn Spurs into a team that wins things at the top level, and for that kind of money, you’re looking for a really influential player to come into your team.”

Spurs need to step away from Savinho

Savinho would be a great addition for Spurs, as he is a player of Premier League quality, but they can’t afford their need to strengthen their attack to cloud their judgement in the final stages of the window.

A fee of £69m would certainly be excessive for a player of the 21-year-old’s inexperience, and the North Londoners need to be mindful of that when they navigate the next few days in the market.

Frank still have plenty of strong attacking options within his ranks, and Spurs must avoid overpaying and handing their rivals a financial boost in the process.

How much Kobbie Mainoo will demand in wages if Tottenham sign Manchester United star

Tottenham are eyeing midfielders ahead of the transfer deadline and could turn to Manchester United ace Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo wants to leave Manchester United due to limited first-team opportunities under Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese has fancied a midfield pivot of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, leaving the 20-year-old as an option on the bench.

With James Maddison set to miss most of the season for Tottenham due to an ACL injury and Yves Bissouma seemingly set for Galatasaray, Thomas Frank could do with another midfielder in the coming days.

Tottenham may need to pay Kobbie Mainoo around £150k/week

Mainoo came up the ranks at Manchester United, so unlike a lot of their other players, does not sit on extremely high wages.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Manchester outfit are known to overpay players in order to tempt them to sign, but with the 20-year-old, they did not need to do that.

It’s understood that he is earning only £20k/week at Old Trafford, which certainly does not reflect his talent and potential.

According to The Athletic on 27 August, Casemiro, a midfielder past his prime, is on £350k/week, which led to Mainoo expecting more as he was starting ahead of the Brazilian last season.

The England international was hoping for a hike on his current wages, potentially up to 10 times, taking it to £200k/week.

However, if he leaves for Spurs, they will be paying a transfer fee, so he will understandably have to settle for lower wages.

Given the North London outfit’s financial situation and Mainoo’s demands, an agreement on £150k/week in wages could most certainly be reached.

How Thomas Frank can get the best out of Kobbie Mainoo

Frank can unlock Mainoo’s potential by leveraging his tactical flexibility, player development expertise, and data-driven approach honed at Brentford.

The composed 20-year-old central midfielder, renowned for his dribbling, press resistance and intelligent positioning, has struggled under Manchester United’s rigid systems, often misplaced in deeper or advanced roles that stifle his creativity.

Frank’s adaptable setups, primarily a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, with situational 3-5-2 shifts, would position Mainoo as a dynamic No. 8 in a double pivot, allowing him to receive between the lines, drive forward with explosive carries and exploit half-spaces.

Spurs’ emphasis on high pressing and quick transitions suits Mainoo’s tenacity in duels and recovery runs, while Frank’s marginal gains philosophy, which focuses on set-pieces and vertical passes, would enhance his ball progression and composure under pressure.

Tottenham are preparing a move that would finally see them complete a hijack of their own in the final days of the transfer window.

Spurs are holding talks over a bid to sign RB Leipzig man Xavi Simons, who has looked set to sign for Chelsea this summer.

Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze after Spurs had agreed a deal with Crystal Palace, with Daniel Levy left humiliated at his failure to complete the deal in the weeks before.

And that wasn’t to be the end of the chairman’s plight in the market, with a similar story taking place just days later.

Spurs launched a £52million bid for Piero Hincapie before Arsenal intervened again, with the defender now looking set to move to the red side of North London.

Ian Wright lauds ‘unbelievable’ Xavi Simons

Chelsea had looked set to sign Simons, but their focus on Alejandro Garnacho has left the door open for Spurs.

The midfielder would provide the perfect player for Thomas Frank, who needs a creative midfielder following injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.

Simons, 22, already boasts a hugely impressive resume, bagging huge numbers of goals and assists in his time at RB Leipzig and PSV.

Xavi Simons’ recent league returns:

The Netherlands international was missing for much of last season, but still managed to register 10 goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga.

Speaking on his podcast, Wrighty’s House, last year, Arsenal legend Ian Wright waxed lyrical about Simons after his performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

“Can I say watching Xavi Simons against Real Madrid, Leipzig versus Real Madrid, was kind of like a coming out parade in respects of a performance from someone,” the former striker said.

“He was brilliant. He was brilliant to watch. Unbelievable.

“And, we are talking about someone who is on loan from PSG to Leipzig, and he is getting the chance to play against arguably one of the greatest teams in the world, Real Madrid, and playing like that.”

Xavi Simons demonstrated his ability vs Real Madrid

Wright is right to praise Simon’s performance against Real Madrid, as the 22-year-old was excellent.

Whilst RB Leipzig were knocked out on aggregate on the night, the Spanish giants were held to a 1-1 draw and, truthfully, deserved to lose both the game and the tie.

Simons constantly drove RB Leipzig forward, almost grabbing a goal of his own on what was a night in which he proved he can do it on the biggest stage.

Spurs need exactly that, and should keep the midfielder’s huge potential in mind when they prepare their opening bid.

Tottenham will have Brentford agreement after Yoane Wissa transfer developments

Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for Yoane Wissa at Brentford.

Wissa looks set to leave Brentford, with Spurs showing an interest after a turbulent window under Keith Andrews at the Gtech Community Stadium.

This came, in part, due to Thomas Frank’s appointment at Tottenham after seven years with the Bees, alongside Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United.

To this point, despite Wissa being linked to Newcastle United, he hasn’t been allowed to leave West London, but has refused to play as a result.

With that being said, it now appears that an agreement has already been reached at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which doesn’t look good for any move for Wissa.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This story includes exclusive comment from ex-Premier League midfielder Martin Allen.

Yoane Wissa agreement part of Thomas Frank appointment

There is no hiding away from the need for attacking reinforcements in N17, especially after Tottenham missed out on Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

That could see a move for Wissa make total sense, especially with the prior relationship that exists with Frank in North London.

This comes off the back of a superb season in red and white stripes, where the DR Congo international contributed to 24 goals in all competitions.

As it stands, the Bees are keen to keep hold of the 28-year-old and may not have a concern over a move to Spurs due to a prior agreement.

Former Brentford manager Allen believes an agreement will already be in place to stop Frank from bringing Brentford stars to Spurs this summer, scuppering a swoop for Wissa.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “I’m unsure whether Thomas Frank could go and take a player from Brentford.

“I don’t think he’ll be allowed to touch their players; that’ll be part of the agreement for his move to Tottenham.

“He would like to have Wissa at Tottenham because he does score goals; any player like that would be crucial for Tottenham.“

Tottenham must now focus on other attacking signings

There is frustration brewing in N17 as the Lilywhites continue to fail in their attempts to sign a new attacker after James Maddison’s pre-season injury.

Eze has already gone elsewhere, and now a move for Wissa looks to be impossible for Spurs to complete in the final days of the window.

The Congo star would have been a useful addition with his goal-scoring exploits last campaign, but a move across the capital is seemingly off the table.

This could come as a further blow to Frank and his relationship with Daniel Levy, as he needs forward additions moving deeper into his maiden campaign as Spurs boss.

Tottenham are considering a sensational bid to hijack Chelsea’s move for RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons.

Arsenal hijacked Spurs’ move for Eberechi Eze last week, with the North London club now set to attempt a similar trick on their other big London rivals.

Thomas Frank is keen to add a creative midfielder to his options after James Maddison underwent surgery on an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Dejan Kulusevski is also expected to be out until at least January, in what has turned into an early injury crisis for the Dane to deal with.

Spurs had a £60million bid for Nico Paz rejected earlier this week, with the midfielder determined to stay at Como ahead of a future move to Real Madrid.

Could Simons be the answer?

Tottenham hold talks over Xavi Simons

Chelsea want to sign Simons, but appear to be focusing on a move for Alejandro Garnacho, who is expected to leave Manchester United.

That has left the door open for a potential move by Spurs, with the Netherlands international presenting the perfect player for Frank.

Simons is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, as well as on both wings.

The 22-year-old scored 10 goals and provided six assists in just 25 Bundesliga appearances for RB Leipzig last season, despite his team enduring a difficult season.

And the seasons before that saw the midfielder boast even more impressive numbers, with Simons bagging an extraordinary 19 league goals in his final season at PSV Eindhoven.

Matt Law reported on 27 August that Spurs are holding talks over a bid to sign the Dutchman, with RB Leipzig valuing the player at around £52m.

There is optimism that Simons would be open to a move to Tottenham, despite his extended period of talks with Chelsea.

Xavi Simons move would be reputation-boosting for Daniel Levy

Daniel Levy has come under huge scrutiny for his failure to sign a creative midfielder this summer.

The Eze saga brought fresh embarrassment for the Tottenham chairman, with critics pointing to the length of time it took for an agreement to be found with Crystal Palace.

But completing a hijack of his own would attract extremely positive optics, as well as provide an excellent player for Frank’s squad.

This is certainly one to watch as the Monday deadline quickly approaches.

Ange Postecoglou once publicly humiliated Timo Werner at Tottenham as Premier League return mooted - tottenhamhotspurnews.com

Timo Werner is set for a return to the Premier League months after leaving Tottenham.

Werner left Tottenham after the completion of his second loan spell earlier this summer.

The winger never got to play under Spurs manager Thomas Frank, who arrived at Tottenham in June. But he did spend the period under Ange Postecoglou, who had mixed feelings about the German while in charge.

But with days until the summer window closes for another few months, he could be gearing up for a speedy return.

Leeds United interested in Timo Werner

While Werner was not cut out for another season in North London, he was in the sights of the recently promoted club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to the German publication Bild on Tuesday, 26 August, both Leeds United and Burnley held an interest. However, he has so far been unreceptive to any enquiries.

But with just under a week before the transfer window shuts shop for another summer, things could change. If they do, Spurs could be reunited with Werner at Elland Road in October. This time as foes, not friends.

Ange Postecoglou once hooked Timo Werner at half time

Postecoglou was the one who brought Werner to Tottenham but the winger was inconsistent with his performances.

The most memorable performance for Werner at Spurs was during their 1-1 draw against Rangers in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Werner was hooked by Postecoglou after a subpar performance in the first half.

In quotes provided by BBC Sport on 12 December 2024, he said: “His performance in the first half wasn’t acceptable.

“We need everybody, including him, to be contributing because we don’t have the depth to leave people out if they perform poorly. I expect a level of performance from some of the senior guys, and tonight wasn’t that.”

The German’s time at Tottenham was spent in the infirmary, as a substitute or on the rare occasion as a starter.

The Rangers game is just one of the many disappointing performances from Werner, either as a starter or on the bench. While it could be odd seeing him in a Leeds shirt, it was the right time for him to leave North London.

Description

Tottenham have started the season brilliantly under Thomas Frank and the Dane will be keen to bolster his squad in the closing days of the transfer window.

However, one man who is yet to feature under Frank is Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin.

Having joined the club from Genoa at the start of 2024, the 23-year-old has always been a back-up to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and his career in North London further stalled when Dragusin sustained an ACL injury in January.

With Frank rebuilding his Spurs squad to fit his footballing philosophy, it feels like Dragusin could be heading for the exit.

Spurs interest in young prospect spells bad news for Radu Dragusin

According to Ajansspor, Spurs have renewed their interest in Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 19-year-old broke into the first team under former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, and has become a mainstay ever since.

Spurs were initially linked with the Akcicek in March, while Ange Postecoglu was still in charge.

The Turkish talent has also garnered interest from Inter, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Manchester United as he looks to make the next step in his career.

If Spurs were to complete this signing, Dragusin’s future would look incredibly bleak and he may already be packing his bags.

Not only is he already injured, but the emergence of young centre-back Luka Vuskovic has added extra quality to the back line for the future.

Despite the fact that Vuskovic is nearing a loan move move to Hamburg, a move that many Spurs fans disagree with, he would still remain higher in the pecking order.

Another potential nail in Dragusin’s coffin is Tottenham signing exciting defender Kota Takai.

The 20-year-old centre-back has joined from Kawasaki Frontale and offers more defensive depth for Spurs

After an uninspiring 18 months, Dragusin has come under fire for certain mistakes, with his most glaring one taking place in Spurs’ Europa League defeat to Galatasaray.

As Spurs look to move from the defensively frail era of Ange Postecoglou, Dragusin will likely be one of the first culprits to make way.

Spurs building towards to the future through focus on youth

Despite the rumoured signing of Akcicek, and Vuskovic’s potential loan to Germany, Spurs still have plans for a lot of their youngsters.

Another young centre-back who is getting experience out on loan is Ashley Phillips, who is at Championship leaders Stoke City.

With yet another promising centre-back in the Spurs ranks, Dragusin shouldn’t feel optimistic about his future at the club.

Below is a list of Spurs players aged 21 or under who have been sent out on loan (prior to completion of Vuskovic deal)”

As Spurs oversee the development of their young talents, the club is also adapting its transfer strategy, seen through the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, the addition of Takai, and the rumoured interest in Akcicek.

Mohammed Kudus still has point to prove at Tottenham as value assessed after West Ham

Mohammed Kudus has had an electric start to life at Tottenham this season.

Kudus joined Spurs from West Ham earlier in the summer and has taken no time in settling in under the tutelage of Thomas Frank in North London.

This saw the Ghana international pick up two assists on his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium debut as Tottenham secured a 3-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder was also superb in the away win at Manchester City despite not contributing to a goal, with Kudus already being well received by the N17 faithful.

With that being said, there will still be questions asked of the 25-year-old as the campaign moves forward, especially based on how his form changed throughout his Hammers spell.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This story includes exclusive comment from former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen.

Mohammed Kudus questions raised at Tottenham

Tottenahm fans were left blown away by Kudus’ league debut as the Ghanaian picked up two assists in a hugely positive showing to begin the campaign.

This has seen many Spurs fans poke fun at West Ham for selling the attacker, especially while their troubles under Graham Potter continue.

With that being said, the London Stadium outfit are seemingly unmoved by the departure of the ex-Ajax man after a poor season last time out in claret and blue.

Former Irons midfielder Allen and West Ham fans aren’t yet sold on Kudus at Spurs, suggesting that his performances early on at West Ham were just as good, before they ultimately dropped off heavily.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Allen said: “He’s started well, but he started well at West Ham.

“He was electric, and they thought they had one of the best players in the world.

“He had a massive dip in form, but was playing out of position in fairness. Bowen was playing in his position, and he was never going to get in ahead of him.

“It has been an electric start for him at Tottenham, but it is only one game.

“Has his value already gone up? Well, last season, West Ham fans wanted him out, so at the moment, I would say he has to prove himself over the next 30 to 40 games rather than just one.“

Thomas Frank must keep faith in Mohammed Kudus

As it stands, there is little reason to doubt the abilities of the Ghana star after such a positive start to life in North London.

There is no doubt that Kudus has been a hugely positive addition and has helped to get the best out of someone like Richarlison in the opening weeks of the campaign.

As a result, Frank can’t pay ear service, just yet, to those at West Ham who are yet to be proven wrong in their doubts about the versatile attacker.

It will be the work of the 25-year-old to show his talents on a regular basis for the Lilywhites and show the London Stadium faithful what they’re missing.
