Martin Ho feels there’s a ‘lot more to come’ from Matilda Vinberg after she committed her future with the Club.
Penning a new, long-term contract, the Sweden international has become a regular member of Martin’s side this term and her much-improved displays saw her earn a recall to the senior national team squad earlier this month.
Still only 23 years old and just in her second full season in England, our Head Coach expressed his delight to keep the young winger on board at Spurs and hopes we begin to see the very best of her.
“I’m delighted Matilda has committed her future to the Club. It shows real belief in the direction we’re going, and continuity in the group is a key part of building something strong.
“She’s a player we really believe in. There’s a lot more within her that we see every day on the training pitch, just giving her the environment where she can thrive and the confidence and belief in her ability is important.
“Her technical quality, flexibility across positions and attacking instincts give her a really high ceiling. Now it’s about turning that into consistent impact, and I’m confident everyone will see that.”
Showcasing more of a clinical edge in the final third this term where she has provided seven goal contributions – her best return in a Spurs shirt to date – and Martin feels she can contribute more to our future ambitions in years to come.
“We can push her levels over the long-term,” Martin added. “I feel she can be someone who contributes a lot to this success and her own ambitions of being in the senior national team with Sweden, I want to help her get there.
“We know there's a lot more to come from Tilly and we just need to give her that time and space and confidence to grow. Once she gets that confidence back to where it needs to be, I think you'll see a really good player.”
Guglielmo Vicario’s stunning fingertip save to deny Cody Gakpo in our recent trip to Liverpool has been recognised by the Premier League.
Our number one has been shortlisted for the league’s Save of the Month award for his amazing effort to push the Dutch forward’s commanding strike onto the post in the first half of our 1-1 draw at Anfield.
After a turnover of play inside our half, 'Vic’ had to be alert to prevent the Reds from taking a two-goal lead before the break. He reacted brilliantly to Gakpo’s quickly taken shot from inside the penalty area, stretching to his right to get a touch on the ball and forcing it to clatter the woodwork.
This is the second month in a row that the Italian has been nominated for the award, having also made the shortlist for a terrific reactive save which kept out Rayan Cherki from close range against Manchester City in February.
He has won the award once before for another fingertip save against Chelsea last April, denying Jadon Sancho on the half-volley.
The 29-year-old has been nominated together with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, Everton shotstopper Jordan Pickford, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Aaron Ramsdale of Newcastle and Sunderland’s Melker Ellborg - and you can play your part in helping our number one to win the prize by voting for him on the Premier League's voting page.
Now in her second full season in north London, having joined us in January, 2024, the Sweden international feels a lot has changed since her early days in Lilywhite and has praised the impact our Head Coach has made.
“It feels amazing,” Tilly told us, speaking to SPURSPLAY after penning a new contract. “I'm very happy here. Two-and-a-half years goes fast when you have fun, so it was an easy decision for me to extend my contract.
“A lot of things have changed since I started my journey here. I think one of the biggest reasons why I want to extend my contract is because of Martin and how much of impact he has brought with him since he joined last summer.
“He's giving something extra to the team, to the players, he's developing our individual plan on how to be more consistent with your play and stuff like that. So, for me, it was an easy choice to extend this contract.”
Embarking on a new journey in her career when she made the move to Hotspur Way, after spending the early stages of her career in Sweden, Tilly has been part of a squad that reached our first-ever FA Cup final in May, 2024, before the side endured a difficult campaign in the WSL last term.
Now on course to record one of our best seasons in England’s top flight since our promotion in 2019, the young forward feels the Club is showing upward progress and has outlined her dream of what she wants to achieve in a Lilywhite shirt.
“Ever since I started my journey at Spurs, I've had a great support from the staff, the players are amazing and we do have a really good potential to become a top team in the WSL,” she added.
“We're taking steps in the right direction. We know that we are so much better and we want to compete, we want to be at the top - that's the most exciting part about being a part of this Spurs team, the Club, and the journey. We want to continue the hard work and push even more to be that top team and my dream is to play in the Champions League with Spurs.
“When I first joined Spurs, it was one of my first moves away from Sweden, moving away from home, so it was a big challenge and a big shift of everything. Now, when I sit here and look back, I have grown so much more as a player and as a person, learnt so much about the English environment and my confidence has grown as well. I’m really happy to stay here and to play in the best league in the world.”
Providing three goal contributions (two goals and an assist) in our last five games, which included a wonderful strike from distance against West Ham United, Tilly has excelled on the pitch in recent months and the 23-year-old has put that down to being in the right environment to develop and bring out her full potential.
“One of the reasons why I extended my contract is because I feel like I am in the right environment to become a better player, a better person, but also to grow and become stronger physically and mentally,” she explained.
“I want to be a bigger player, to have a bigger role in this team, and I want to be one of the more exciting players. I want to be that player scoring goals, also creates a lot in the final third, I think that’s a top goal of mine.
“I want, for example, Martin to challenge me even more because I think it's really easy as a player when you've had like a good period, you can get satisfied, you can be like more relaxed, but I don't want that. I always want him to push me and to be like, ‘you can be better’, even if I've done a good game.
“He knows and he’s aware that I can be so much better, I have so much potential, and he always tells me that I have that, and I think it's really nice to hear that. I also know I have so much more in me that I haven't showed everyone yet. It's going to be interesting to see if that's going to grow and, hopefully, there will come an outcome of that in the next few years.”
We are delighted to announce that Matilda Vinberg has signed a new, long-term contract with the Club.
Arriving in London in January, 2024, the 23-year-old Sweden international has become a reliable and consistent performer over the last two years and is enjoying her best season in Lilywhite to date, with seven goals contributions in all competitions.

Tilly arrived at Hotspur Way having been a key part of Hammarby IF’s double-winning side in the 2023 campaign while, the season prior to that, she was named the league’s Breakthrough Player of the Year and Hammarby’s Player of the Year.
Venturing to England for the first time in her career, she scored her first goal for the Club in March, 2024, in a 1-0 win at home to Leicester City in the WSL and featured in all five games in our historic FA Cup run as we reached the final for the first time in our history.
With a full pre-season under her belt in the summer of 2024, the young winger went on to make 23 appearances for us in the 2024/25, 18 of those coming in the WSL, and scored in the Women’s League Cup group stage game against Crystal Palace in December, 2024.
Suffering a small knock at the start of this season, Tilly had to be patient for her opportunity under Martin Ho. But since breaking into the starting XI, she has been a reliable option on either wing, providing defensive cover with her work rate and willingness to track back, while at the other end, she has become more clinical in the final third, netting two goals and providing five assists.
Her performances in recent months also saw her earn a recall to the Sweden’s senior national team squad in the last international break for their 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. She has 11 caps in total for her nation, scoring once.

Sabiha Jamal’s side put in an impressive performance against FA Women’s National League Division One South East side Dulwich Hamlet last time out in the competition, where an own goal and a stunner from Grace Bellwood earned us a 2-1 victory at Champion Hill.
The fixture against the Bees next month is the first time one of our home fixtures will be opened to the supporters at Cheshunt Football Club – and we would love to encourage our fanbase to head down!

How is our Under-19s getting on?
Away from taking part in the senior Capital Cup competition, our Under-19s regularly compete in the Professional Game Academy League throughout the campaign.
In the first half of the season, where the two league tables are regionalised, our young side finished mid-table and were positioned into PGA League Division Two and, after 13 games in the competition, we currently sit fifth in the standings.
Jamal’s side have enjoyed a good run of form in recent weeks, currently on a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, including that win over Dulwich Hamlet at a packed Champion Hill.
Alongside plenty of points, we have been in fine goalscoring form as well!
In our last three games in the PGA, we have scored 13 goals in total and forward Grace Bellwood has been at the forefront of that, scoring five goals in the last five games – taking her tally to nine for the season.
Our Under-18 Premier League fixture away to Reading, postponed at the end of January, has now been rearranged.
The match will take place on Wednesday 6 May, kick-off 11.30am at the Royals’ Bearwood Park training ground.
This will make it our final Under-18 Premier League southern division outing of the season.
It’s all eyes on the Emirates Stadium for the north London derby this weekend in our final Barclays Women’s Super League game ahead of next month’s international break.
Always a highly contested battle on the pitch from minute one until the final whistle, it's usually argued that any type of form can be put to one side heading into the fixture and we’ll be looking to do exactly that after suffering back-to-back defeats in the WSL for this first time, with an eye to return to winning ways this weekend.
And we have certainly enjoyed our trips on the road this term. We are currently the highest-scoring team in away fixtures so far this season, scoring 20 goals in total, but we have also conceded more than 20, becoming the first team in WSL history to score and concede 20 or more away goals in the same campaign.
But we will have to overcome a resolute Arsenal defence in the WSL. The Gunners have only conceded seven goals from open play this term and have preserved clean sheets in all their league games in 2026.
Making the short trip to N5 this weekend, who scores first in the contest could play a key part in the final result as, with previous history that shows, Arsenal are unbeaten in 66 WSL games when they have opened the scoring on home soil.
It could be a memorable evening for captain Bethany England as she could make her 200th appearance in the WSL if she was to feature in the north London derby and our number nine certainly enjoys a London derby – scoring 18 goals in total in these type of games, joint-highest with Beth Mead.
Three of our Academy players made ideal starts to their respective European Championship qualification campaigns with England.
Starting with the England Under-17s, Oscar Sandiford played the full 90 minutes while Oliver Boast was a second-half substitute as they kick-started their UEFA European Championship qualification campaign with a 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands at St George's Park.
Meanwhile, with the Under-18s, Malachi Hardy was an unused substitute as his side enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Bulgaria to make the perfect start to their UEFA Under-19 2027 European Championship qualification campaign.
