Randal Kolo Muani arrives on loan from Paris Saint-Germain - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

We are delighted to announce the signing of Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, subject to international clearance and work permit.

The 26-year-old France international will wear the number 39 shirt.

Randal said: "I'm really happy and very proud to be at such a great club. I can’t wait to meet my team-mates, all the fans and to get out on the pitch.

"I know what the coach expects from me. I will fight hard for the shirt, the Club and the fans. I will give everything for this team."

Our Head Coach, Thomas Frank, said: “Randal is a quality player who has proven himself over a number of years, playing for big teams in the Champions League and also with good experience for the France national team.

“He's a good age, in the prime of his career, has good qualities that will suit both us and the Premier League, and gives us a different option in the final third being able to play out wide and through the middle.

“We are all excited for what Randal can add to the squad, and I'm looking forward to working with him."

A versatile attacker who can operate across the forward line, Randal’s professional journey began at French side Nantes, where he progressed through the ranks before making his professional debut in November, 2018.

Spending three seasons in the Ligue 1 side's first team, he quickly grew into a key player for Les Canaris, scoring 23 goals for them while, in his final season, he helped them to the Coupe de France - Nantes' first major honour in over 20 years.

His fine displays in France earned him a move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in July, 2022, and the forward was simply sensational in Germany, registering 43 goal involvements in just 50 appearances for Die Adler, while he helped them to the 2023 German Cup Final.

An imposing and pacy attacker, with ability on the ball and in the air, Randal enjoyed further success when he returned to his homeland and joined Paris Saint-Germain the following summer, helping the French giants to two Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.

Scoring goals wherever he has been, his impressive return rate in front of goal continued in a loan spell at Juventus earlier this year, where he scored eight times in just 16 Serie A appearances.

A seasoned international, Randal earned his first senior call-up to the France national team in September, 2022, and has since earned 31 caps, scoring on nine occasions. Named in Les Bleus’ 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, the forward played his part in his nation reaching the final for a second successive tournament, scoring in the semi-final victory over Morocco, before he helped his country to the final four of UEFA Euro 2024, where he also scored in the semi-finals.

Description

Randal Kolo Muani has delivered the words all fans love to hear - and he can’t wait to turn those words into action in a Spurs shirt.

The France international forward has joined us on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, subject to international clearance and work permit, and will wear the number 39 shirt.

Still only 26, Randal has a wealth of experience, a talent we saw first-hand in 2022, when he lined-up against us for Eintracht Frankfurt home and away in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, eventually registering 43 goal involvements in just 50 appearances for the German side.

Speaking to us at Hotspur Way on Monday, Randal said: “I’m really happy, really satisfied. I’m very proud. I can’t wait to meet my teammates and all the fans and to start to play. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and show what I can do.

“I’m a player who fights hard for the badge. I fight for the fans, for the club, for the badge. I like to make runs in behind to help my teammates score, to score goals myself and to work hard for the team.”

Asked what qualities he will bring to the squad, he said: “My combativity, and lots of goals too, whether through assists or scoring myself. I hope to bring lots of goals and points for my new club.”

An imposing and pacey attacker, Randal has lifted two Ligue 1 titles with PSG, and broadened his experience of Europe’s top leagues further last season when he joined Juventus, bagging eight goals in 16 appearances in Serie A. He’s earned 31 caps for France along the way, scoring nine goals, including the semi-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he also featured in the final as Les Bleus finished runners-up to Cuti Romero’s Argentina in a thriller in Qatar.

Now for a new challenge. “It’s a first time for me, a new league and I’m really happy to be playing here,” he added. “I just can’t wait to get going, I’ve watched a lot of these kinds of leagues on the TV. Now I’m here and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, to start playing and show what I’ve got for my new club.”

“We're ready to go” – Olivia Holdt on a positive end to pre-season

Olivia Holdt says the squad is ‘ready to go’ in the Barclays Women’s Super League after concluding our pre-season with a 3-1 win at Southampton on Sunday.

After Martha Thomas and Jess Naz fired us ahead in the contest at the Snows Stadium, Olivia stepped off the substitutes bench at half-time to net our third of the game in the second half to cap off a positive afternoon on the south coast.

Having drawn to Sevilla following a week’s training camp in southern Spain before edging Arsenal in a seven-goal thriller, the victory over the Saints maintained our unbeaten run during pre-season.

Now the focus turns to our WSL opener at home to West Ham – tickets still available – and the 24-year-old hailed the importance of the positive momentum from our three games in recent weeks ahead of Sunday’s London derby.

“It’s really positive to get a win in for the upcoming week,” she told us after the game. “We got the last things settled and we got some confidence with three goals, so it was really positive.

“It's very important going unbeaten into the new season from all our training games, lots of good stuff to take into the new campaign. We will continue training hard and good for next week.”

When asked about the new season coming up, she added: “I'm so excited, I can't wait! I feel like we've been in pre-season long enough now, so I feel like we're ready to go when, hopefully, it's going to be a good season.

“We had some fans again here [at the Snows Stadium], and it's always nice to feel their support. I’m looking forward to being at home and seeing the fans.”

The midfielder was introduced at the break, Martha’s goal giving us the lead at half-time, and despite Atlanta Primus firing home an equaliser nine minutes into the second period, we responded well to pick up another vital win in pre-season with Olivia at the heart of our attack.

“It was nice to get on the pitch at half-time and help the team to get some goals,” she said.

“As an offensive player, it's always nice to score goals but, most importantly, we won and we’re ready for next week.

“I don't know if it was nice for me, but it was good to see the first 45 minutes from the sideline before coming on at half-time. I could, like, sit and see where the spaces were on the pitch, so I could prepare and kind of figure out what to do if I get on.”

Ho’s verdict: “The response was brilliant”

Southampton 1-3 Spurs | Ho’s verdict: “The response was brilliant” - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Martin Ho hailed the importance of building ‘confidence, belief, and motivation’ as we ended pre-season with a 3-1 win at Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Having behind held to a goalless draw at Sevilla followed by an emphatic win over our north London rivals, Arsenal, we maintained our unbeaten run throughout pre-season with another positive performance on the south coast to overcome the Women’s Super League 2 side.

Martha Thomas fired us ahead in the first period, converting Kit Graham’s low cross into the box, but her opener was cancelled out nine minutes after the restart through the hosts’ Atlanta Primus.

However, we responded well and restored our lead (62) after a fantastic run by Jess Naz before it was calmly converted by our number seven. Olivia Holdt then drilled home from inside the box (73) after clever footwork inside the box, as we continue positive momentum ahead of our WSL season opener at home to West Ham United next Sunday.

“I thought for large parts, we controlled with the ball, sometimes we didn’t progress well enough, but once we started to get in a rhythm in the second half, we were ruthless and started to put passes together,” Martin told us, reflecting on the game.

“The link-up play in the middle was nice to watch and then there were moments when we got behind and threatened them in the space so, overall, it’s a good workout for us, the last one of pre-season to go into a new week leading to West Ham.”

Martin on having three different goalscorers on the scoresheet…

“It's more about how we can have different goalscorers, importantly, how we can score more and we probably should have, to be honest. But it’s good to see the impact of the players coming in, which doesn’t change the game much, and more importantly, it’s good to see the players who have gone through the whole game perform well.”

Martin on the response after the equaliser…

“It’s about mentality when you concede a goal and you end up at 1-1, I think the response is key, the character and personality you show in those moments to make sure you overcome that, and we did that. We’re going to make those mistakes, individually and collectively, and that lies with me as we’re trying to be brave with the ball, trying to control the game, but the response was brilliant.”

Martin on building positive momentum ahead of the season opener….

It's really important [the positive momentum] because you want to go into the season with confidence, belief and motivation… I think we do. The playing style is starting to show and more importantly, we’re starting to build relationships on the pitch and everyone is starting to push the game. This build competition which is good and gives me a bit of a headache going into the first game, which I need as a Head Coach, and hopefully we go into this week really positive.”

Jess Naz and Olivia Holdt on target as pre-season ends in win at Southampton - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Second-half strikes from Jess Naz and Olivia Holdt saw us conclude our pre-season programme with a 3-1 victory over Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Similar to our friendly last weekend against Arsenal, we needed a much-improved performance after the break to ensure we preserved our unbeaten run in pre-season and we certainly delivered with two well-taken finishes to claim the win at the Snows Stadium.

A fantastic solo goal from Naz just after the hour mark restored our lead in the contest after Southampton’s Atlanta Primus cancelled out Martha Thomas’ strike, her first under Martin Ho, in the first period with an equaliser nine minutes after the restart.

Substitute Holdt showcased some clever footwork inside the box followed by a clinical finish into the bottom corner, as it brought a positive end to the last five weeks ahead of our Barclays Women’s Super League opener at home to West Ham United next weekend – tickets still available to buy.

We made four changes to the starting XI that faced our north London rivals last weekend as Thomas, Araya Dennis, Maite Oroz and Kit Graham came in, with the latter earning her first start in over 12 months after making her return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in our seven-goal thriller at Arsenal.

The first note of action came after just three minutes when Jess Naz saw her effort on the half-volley saved well by Stenson but the Saints’ goalkeeper was unable to keep hold off the ball ball, which was eventually cleared off the line by one of her defenders. Graham fired a powerful left-foot strike over the bar from inside the left area of the box in an opening 20 minutes not filled with much quality from either side.

However, that changed on the half hour mark to break the deadlock on the south coast. captain Bethany England played a lovely ball out wide to Graham, she sent a low ball to Thomas just outside the six-yard box and our number 17 calmly directed the ball through the legs of Stenson and into the back of the net. Drew Spence dragged an effort wide of the far post from edge of the box on the stroke of half time as we held on to our one-goal advantage in the first period.

We made a double change at the break as Charlotte Grant and Holdt entered the fray and the latter nearly made an instant impact, forcing Stenson into a low save to her right with a low drive after good footwork to create space on her left foot just inside the box. But, at the other end, the home side grabbed an equaliser as Josefine Rybrink’s pass across the backline was intercepted by Mary Bashford, she then set Primus through one-on-one and the forward calmly slotted past Lize Kop.

However, we reacted well to the leveller and nine minutes later, we reinstated our lead in the contest. Spence played the ball into the feet of Naz and she produced her magic, showcasing her electric speed to breeze past Megan Collett on the far left and into the box before picking out the bottom right corner with a composed finish. Then, as we entered the final quarter-of-an-hour of the game, Holdt extended our advantage. England’s reverse pass into the centre was cleverly left by the Denmark international to let the ball run into the area, she then cut on to her right-foot before drilling low past Stenson at her near post.

The closing stages saw us continue to apply pressure, Stenson denying England with a strong save over the bar before Holdt should have had her second of the game in stoppage time as a clever flick from Thomas found the forward inside the box, but her right-footed effort was straight at the Saints' shot stopper.

A positive afternoon against the Women’s Super League 2 side as full focus now turns to our first competitive game of the season and under Martin with the WSL season opener next Sunday.
