Tottenham Hotspur made a play to try and sign Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman before bringing in Randal Kolo Muani, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his YouTube channel.

It was a busy end to the summer transfer window for Spurs, who confirmed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kolo Muani, joining the club on deadline day on a straight loan deal. The French striker is the second player to arrive on a temporary deal, with Joao Palhinha joining from Bayern Munich for the 2025/2026 season.

Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons were the other players to sign on the dotted line, joining from West Ham United and RB Leipzig respectively. Daniel Levy and his recruitment team will have been working right up until the deadline to try and get more players through the door, but they failed to secure a deadline day signing other than Kolo Muani.

"He was an option for Tottenham. I can tell you that Tottenham, before going all in for Randal Kolo Muani, considered the possibility to go for Lookman. Lookman, as Romano mentioned, is a different profile to Kolo Muani, but perhaps one they might need more. Tottenham now have Richarlison, Kolo Muani, and Dominic Solanke for one centre-forward position, whereas Lookman would likely come straight in and play as their left-sided attacker.

Lookman, described as 'world-class' by journalist John Bennett, has flourished since leaving the Premier League. After spells with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, Lookman moved to Europe to push himself in his career, and it's certainly paid off for him, becoming one of the best-performing left-wingers in world football.

Ange Postecoglou is being lined up for a top European job after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, according to GIVEMESPORT Senior Reporter Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Italian journalist, Bayer Leverkusen and Fenerbahce are both holding internal talks over a move for the Europa League winning manager.

Tottenham felt they were left with little option to axe Postecoglou just weeks after their Europa League final victory against Manchester United in May, due to their performance in the Premier League last season.

Dominic Solanke’s injury is ‘worse than feared’, with the Tottenham striker facing a considerable spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle issue, journalist Jake Sanders has revealed.
