Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for survival remains finely poised, but fresh projections have now offered a clearer picture of where their season could end.

Tottenham Hotspur needed to avoid defeat in their Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion, and they did just that.

A 2-2 draw against the most in-form side in the league at the moment is not a bad result, but it will sting for Spurs, who were so close to snatching all three points before conceding late in the game.

Regardless, there are still five matches left to play, and Tottenham will be hoping to get at least nine points from their final 15 if they are to secure their safety this season.

Tottenham supercomputer prediction after Brighton and Hove Albion draw

Unfortunately, Spurs’ draw against Brighton means they remain in the bottom three heading into the next gameweek.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A win on Saturday would have seen them climb as high as 16th, leapfrogging Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, who play later – a chance that has now been passed on.

Tottenham will no doubt be hoping for a favour from Burnley and Crystal Palace, who face Forest and West Ham respectively, to keep the gap between themselves and their rivals tight.

However, with five games left this season, Opta’s supercomputer has now crunched the numbers and predicted where Tottenham will finish the campaign after their latest draw.

According to the supercomputer, Spurs are expected to miss out on survival, finishing four points below the 40-point mark.

The AI believes that Tottenham will end on 36 points in 18th place, finishing just two points behind West Ham United, who will just about secure their own league status.

Spurs must build on Brighton performance to defy prediction

It certainly looks like doom and gloom for Spurs heading into the final weeks of the season, especially when they could be four points adrift of safety with a West Ham United win later this gameweek.

But Tottenham can draw some solace from their performance against Brighton, where they showed fighting spirit and grit against the Seagulls.

That was an encouraging display, one that, if they build on it, could see them secure more points in the final stretch of the season.

Up next for the Lilywhites is a clash against bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers – a must-win game for Tottenham.

‘Are we lowkey just broke?’ – Tottenham fans react to third-straight free agent rumour - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in a new goalkeeper has sparked a strong reaction among supporters, with many questioning the club’s direction ahead of the summer window.

Tottenham Hotspur could very well be shopping in the goalkeeper market this summer transfer window, given the speculation surrounding Guglielmo Vicario’s future.

Vicario is understood to have given the green light to a contract offer from Inter Milan, who remain very keen on signing the Spurs number one this summer.

Should the Italian depart, Tottenham would need to secure a replacement, as Antonin Kinsky and Brandon Austin stand as backup to the 29-year-old.

Fresh reports have now linked Tottenham with a move for a new goalkeeper who is set to be a free agent this summer.

It is understood that Spurs have shown interest in Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow as they look to add a homegrown option to their ranks.

Darlow has featured for fellow relegation rivals Leeds 16 times this season in the Premier League and has conceded 20 goals.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham fans who have caught wind of the latest report have now shared their reaction, with many left shocked by the development.

Taking to social media, supporters voiced their concerns over the reported link, with one fan questioning the club’s finances, saying: “Are we lowkey just broke?” Another added: “Nice to see we’re preparing for the champ”.

A third supporter reacted sarcastically, stating: “our first choice goalie is sorted for next season”. Further comments continued in a similar tone, with one fan saying: “The amount of preparation Vinai and Lange have put into getting the team ready for next season in the championship is incredible”.

Another added: “Wait until you see our ambition in the summer guys”, while one supporter wrote: “These proposed signings and links so far are proper lower half of the PL type. Looks like we’re preparing for another relegation battle if we stay up by a miracle”.

Another comment read: “We are being linked to championship names. They have already settled for it. Nice.” A final fan pointed out: “Brandon Austin is classed as Home Grown so this makes no sense”.

Spurs transfer plans questioned as Karl Darlow link raises doubts

There has been talk of ambition from the Tottenham hierarchy ahead of this summer, but this recent link reeks of anything but, and the fans have every right to be concerned.

Tottenham have already been strongly linked with signing Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi as free agents – if they avoid relegation.

Darlow certainly is not what is needed at Tottenham if they are to bolster their goalkeeping ranks ahead of next season.

A more established name in their prime years will be far preferable to going for a goalkeeper being shipped off by Leeds United.

Tottenham tipped to get £50m bid for midfielder who wasn’t even in the squad vs Brighton - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to cash in on one of their young midfield stars this summer as the threat of relegation looms.

Top clubs around Europe are circling over Tottenham’s stars ahead of the summer window, given the possibility of a fire sale from the North London club this summer if they go down.

It is not just the big names that are attracting interest, but also some of the bright young talents at the club.

According to reports, some European giants are circling over Lucas Bergvall, Luka Vuskovic and Archie Gray, all of whom could depart N17 in the event of relegation.

It has now been claimed that another Spurs midfielder’s future at the club may also be uncertain.

Tottenham don’t want to sell Pape Sarr but £50m could be enough

Journalist Mark Brus has now revealed on CaughtOffside that there are serious conversations taking place at Spurs about players who could be poached by bigger clubs.

One such name is Pape Sarr, with Tottenham aware that the interest in the 23-year-old is growing ahead of the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

One source is quoted as saying: “Spurs insist Sarr is not for sale, but privately they know that big clubs are going to come calling, and some may already have done so.”

Another source told Brus about the midfielder: “Sarr’s value is growing and there’s a real possibility of him moving on this summer, whether they go down or not. Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich are all big fans of the player, and offers of around £50m would probably be enough.”

What is Sarr’s stance on his Spurs future?

The journalist explains that Sarr is not currently pushing for a move away from Tottenham and is focused on the club’s fight for survival.

However, Brus adds that agents and intermediaries will likely start having informal discussions soon on the Senegal international’s future.

‘He is very open’ – Why people are wrong to write off Marcos Senesi to Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed Marcos Senesi’s stance on his future after Tottenham Hotspur stepped up their efforts to sign the centre-back.

It first emerged earlier this week that Tottenham had begun talks with Senesi’s agent regarding a free transfer to N17.

The Argentine, whose contract with Bournemouth ends in June, has his heart set on a big move, and reports indicate that the Spurs target wants to agree a move to a new club before the end of the season.

On Friday, David Ornstein revealed that Tottenham had moved into pole position to land Senesi, who was willing to move to the North London club if they remain in the Premier League.

Marcos Senesi is ‘very open’ to Tottenham move

In his update, Ornstein revealed that Spurs are holding advanced talks but warned that no deal has been finalised with the centre-back, adding that the Cherries star’s situation remains ‘open’.

Ben Jacobs has now handed Tottenham a boost by revealing that neither Chelsea nor Liverpool has made a move for Senesi yet, and revealed that the 28-year-old is open to moving to N17.

The journalist told The United Stand: “My information on Marcos Senesi is that, contrary to reports, Chelsea are not currently active on bringing him in. Liverpool have discussed him, but there’s nothing formal there yet.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“People are writing Tottenham off at this stage, but he is very open to joining them if they stay in the Premier League. To Manchester United, possible but nothing to get excited about.”

Why Sensi is a tempting option for Spurs

Reports indicate that Cristian Romero will leave Tottenham even if they avoid relegation, while sources continue to suggest that Micky van de Ven could also be on his way out of Spurs.

While Luka Vuskovic has been touted to be a starter for Tottenham next season, De Zerbi will want to add some experience to his backline.

If they manage to land Senesi, the Lilywhites will be getting a proven Premier League performer, who could make an immediate impact while not at all denting their summer transfer budget.

Five things we learned from Tottenham 2-2 Brighton after 95th-minute heartbreak

Five things we learned from Tottenham 2-2 Brighton after 95th-minute heartbreak - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s 111-day wait for a Premier League win continues after conceding a 95th-minute equaliser to Brighton that leaves them rooted in the relegation zone.

Let’s take a look at the five things we learned:

Better from Tottenham but it’s too late for just better

It was undoubtedly a positive performance from Tottenham, but that will do little to console the Spurs faithful. The time for ‘better’, and ‘positives to take’, and ‘incredible effort’ was back in February. The only currency Tottenham can afford to deal in now is points and wins. Five more ‘better’ performances will not keep the Lilywhites in the Premier League. A few wins will.

Spurs were literally one clearance from Kevin Danso away from all three points this evening – three points that would have taken them up into 16th and could have sparked a revival. As it stands, Tottenham have to pick themselves up, go again, and make the Wolves game their winning spark instead.

Where does that leave Spurs in the table?

Tottenham remain in the bottom three despite the fact that West Ham and Nottingham Forest haven’t even played yet this weekend. To make matters worse, Forest are at home to 19th-place Burnley, and West Ham face a Crystal Palace who were distracted with a huge European win in mid-week. A win over Brighton would have taken Spurs up to 16th on 33 points with a goal difference of -10.

Although that would have been a positive marker and a step in the right direction, you suspect both West Ham and Forest would have had a good chance of leapfrogging once again thanks to their kind fixtures. Without that win as a buffer, Tottenham now risk falling four behind the Hammers and five behind Forest if both claim all three points in the next 48 hours. Put your Burnley and Palace hats on, Spurs fans!

Xavi Simons, Yves Bissouma, and Rodrigo Bentancur star

Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur were both thrown back into the Tottenham starting XI against Brighton, and both looked head and shoulders above what we have seen in recent weeks in the Spurs midfield. You suspect both will be nailed on to start against Wolves, despite the superb form of Archie Gray. Unfortunately, due to a severe lack of minutes in 2026, both players tired in the second half. Spurs will hope their fitness will improve over the coming weeks, and the wins (fingers crossed) could follow.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Xavi Simons also showcased his (almost) match-winning ability, highlighting the strange fact that he has been absent from the Tottenham starting XI since his Champions League brace. You suspect he will play almost every minute between now and the end of the season after his screamer and generally positive performance against Brighton. Spurs need more creativity and players who are willing to run through brick walls, and Simons does both.

It is also worth noting that De Zerbi got the best out of Conor Gallagher by playing to his strengths. The Spurs boss played the 26-year-old further up the pitch, almost alongside Solanke at times. This took the focus away from Gallagher’s ability to pick a pass between the lines and instead shone a light on his greatest strength, his pressing. The English midfielder hassled and harried the Brighton defence all day long – effort we have rarely seen from Tottenham midfielders of late – and it paid off in a big way for the Lilywhites. Gallagher almost even scored a goal of his own simply by chasing down a sluggish Verbruggen. Once again, you can expect to see him in the number 10 again next weekend.

Roberto De Zerbi chooses his Tottenham captain

With Cristian Romero out for the season, all eyes were on who De Zerbi would name as his new Spurs captain. However, the Italian didn’t throw up any surprises by handing the armband to Micky Van de Ven, who has regularly deputised for Romero this season amidst his litany of suspensions and injuries. The long-term problem for De Zerbi is that neither will probably be at the club come next season.

Tottenham Hotspur player ratings vs Brighton – Huge error throws away three points - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 2-2 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion in a heartbreaking result in the batle against relegation.

We’ve analysed the performance of the Spurs players throughout the ninety minutes and beyond at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

How the Spurs players rated against Brighton

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the highest score achievable for an impressive performance.

Antonin Kinsky – 7

Could do nothing about neither of Brighton’s goals, but had some very good moments as his confidence continues to grow.

Pedro Porro – 5

Did well to get himself on Xavi’s cross for the opening goal, but time and time again his defensive positoning is proving to be a problem.

Kevin Danso – 5

Had such a solid game, but got caught out for Brighton’s second goal.

Micky van de Ven – 6

Fortunate not to have scored an own goal in the first half, settled into the game better during the second period.

Destiny Udogie – 6

Had Danso to thank for Brighton not going ahead early in the second half, a decent overall performance.

Conor Gallagher – 7

Arguably his best game in a Tottenham shirt, with a lot more pressing in attacking areas.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Played 66 minutes upon his first game back after hamstring surgery, did well defensively.

Yves Bissouma – 5

Booked in the first half and was replaced by Archie Gray ten minutes after half-time.

Xavi Simons – 8

His cross for Porro’s goal was brilliant, but will be kicking himself for not taking the opportunity to put his side 2-0 ahead, but certainly made up for it with a beautiful curling effort in the 76th minute.

Randal Kolo Muani – 4

Hardly surprising that the Frenchman was brought off on 56 minutes, having struggled to get himself involved in the game.

Dominic Solanke – 5

Found himself up against the physical presence of Van Hecke, had a battle on his hands throughout the match to act as a target man.

Archie Gray – 6

Replaced Conor Gallagher in the second half, did the simple things right.

Mathys Tel – 6

On for the ineffective Kolo Muani and did far more down the right.

Joao Palhinha – 5

Came on and put himself about.

Djed Spence – 5

Came on at left-back to replace Udogie.

Lucas Bergvall – 6

Pressed brilliantly seconds after coming on to win the ball back for Xavi’s goal.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion have been in Premier League action, with the half time whistle having been blown.

This is a must-win fixture for Tottenham as they look to pull themselves away from the relegation zone having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi‘s first game in charge of the North Londoners.

Tottenham are level at 1-1 the break, with the home side taking the lead courtesy of Pedro Porro’s header, which was equalised through Mitoma.

Spurs Web have analysed the performance of each of the Tottenham players during the first half, with Premier League survival at stake.

Antonin Kinsky – 6

Continuing to deputise for Vicario after hernia surgery. Did well to claw the ball away from the head Van Hecke from a corner.

Pedro Porro – 5

Has played more than one loose pass, but certainly made up for it when he nodded home the opener. Saw a shot tipped over moments later. His positioning once again was to blame, when he left Mitoma open at the back post.

Kevin Danso – 6

Back in the starting eleven after Cristian Romero was ruled out for the season, has looked assured.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Micky van de Ven – 5

Given the captain’s armband and nearly scored an own goal, fortunately for the Dutchman, it came back off the post. Ran the risk of a VAR decision when he decided to go shoulder-to-shoulder to win the ball back in his own area.

Destiny Udogie – 6

Solid first half from the Italian, who has rarely been troubled defensively.

Conor Gallagher – 6

Has looked more energetic than in some of his previous performances

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Fit enough to make his first start since January, has looked calm on the ball and tried to break up any Brighton counterattack.

Yves Bissouma – 5

Facing his former side and started the game with plenty of energy to help with the press, but faded away. Booked on 33 minutes.

Xavi Simons – 7

Playing down the left side, has seen little of the ball. A moment of real quality from the Dutchman to dink the ball behind the Brighton defence for Porro to head home. Moments later was unlucky not to double the score.

Randal Kolo Muani – 5

Has not seen a lot of the ball down the right.

Dominic Solanke – 6

Has tried to hold the ball up against a physical Seagulls defence. Did well on 40 mins to get in behind to create the Xavi Simons chance.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton: Confirmed team line-ups as James Maddison returns - Spurs Web
Description

The Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up for the Premier League match against Brighton and Hove Albion has been confirmed ahead of kick-off.

The stage is set this afternoon for Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This encounter marks Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge in front of the Tottenham fans, who already have plans to make it a raucous atmosphere at their own ground this afternoon against the side which the Italian has previously managed.

Spurs have the worst home record in the Premier League, but they must secure their third home victory this season if they are to keep their survival hopes alive.

Rodrigo Bentancur returns from injury in a timely boost

Coming into this encounter, De Zerbi still has a few injuries to contend with. The Tottenham boss lost his captain, Cristian Romero, in Spurs’ last outing against Sunderland, with the centre-back to miss the rest of the season.

The Argentine now joins several other Tottenham players on the sidelines, including Guglielmo Vicario, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

But there is good news on the injury front following Rodrigo Bentancur’s return to training earlier this week. The Uruguayan has now been named in the squad as Spurs go in search of their first league win of 2026.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is the Tottenham team which takes to the field in N17 this afternoon:

Tottenham XI: Kinsky; Porro, Van de Ven, Danso, Udogie, Bentancur, Gallagher, Bissouma, Xavi, Solanke, Kolo Muani

Subs: Austin, Dragusin, Palhinha, Richarlison, Maddison, Tel, Gray, Bergvall, Spence

Brighton: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Boscagli, Kadioglu; Ayari, Groß; Gomez, Hinshelwood, Minteh; Welbeck.

Spurs must capitalise as rivals apply pressure in survival race

Spurs simply cannot afford to drop any more points, given the form their relegation rivals are in at the moment.

Leeds United put a foot in safety following their win against Manchester United last gameweek, leaving Tottenham to battle with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers are up against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, while Forest are set to take on Burnley on Sunday. Victories for both of these sides, coupled with failure to win today for Spurs, will see their relegation rivals pull further away.

Tottenham may have found their next Fraser Forster in 35-year-old free agent target

Tottenham may have found their next Fraser Forster in 35-year-old free agent target - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in free agents continues to grow ahead of the summer window, with another experienced name now emerging on their radar.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a couple of free agents ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to rebuild their squad.

Spurs are said to be interested in signing Marco Senesi on a free this summer, with fresh reports stating that Tottenham are in pole position to land the Argentine despite interest from a host of clubs.

The same has also been reported regarding Andy Robertson, who is set to depart Liverpool as a free agent this summer, and Tottenham are once again favourites to land Robertson.

Tottenham transfer interest in Karl Darlow emerges amid free agent search

But Tottenham’s interest in free agents is not set to stop there, with The Telegraph now revealing that another out-of-contract star this summer is of interest to Spurs.

It is claimed that Leeds United’s Karl Darlow is now on Tottenham’s radar, with the Lilywhites’ interest stemming from a need to bolster their homegrown quota.

The 35-year-old is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season, having featured for Leeds 16 times this campaign and conceded 20 goals.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs do have Guglielmo Vicario, Antonin Kinsky, and Brandon Austin as their goalkeeper options this season, but that number could well reduce, as Vicario is heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Many Tottenham fans, however, are far from pleased with the recent links to Darlow, with some supporters believing this signals the club is settling for a Championship spot.

Spurs are currently embroiled in a full-on relegation scrap and are now in the bottom three, making relegation to the Championship a very real possibility.

There is also a chance that, should they go down, several of their top stars could depart the club in search of top-flight football.

Guglielmo Vicario has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, who are keen on securing his signature, while club captain Cristian Romero’s future remains uncertain.

Of course, if Spurs were to go down, it would be hard to lure top stars, making links with players like Darlow all the more understandable.

Tottenham breathe sigh of relief after Hamburg threatened to take a ‘risk’ on Luka Vuskovic - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will be breathing a sigh of relief after the latest developments in Hamburg regarding Luka Vuskovic’s injury.

Vuskovic keeps putting up astonishing numbers for Hamburg on loan this season, and his consistent displays at the back are one of the main reasons why HSV look on course to remain in the Bundesliga.

The Croat has been tipped to be a starter for Tottenham next season, with Spurs fans excited about the potential the 19-year-old has shown in Germany this season.

However, the Lilywhites may not have been too pleased to hear what HSV were planning to do with their prized asset.

Hamburg said they are willing to risk Tottenham starlet Luka Vuskovic despite injury

Vuskovic suffered a knock in his knee, which kept him out of the club’s 4-0 defeat at Stuttgart last weekend, and reports indicate that Tottenham’s medical team are in contact with Hamburg about the centre-back.

A report in Bild (as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed on Friday that the Spurs youngster has not trained with his Hamburg teammates this week.

Instead, Vuskovic has been ‘receiving treatment’ for his knee and has been doing individual rehab sessions in the gym.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, concerningly for Spurs, HSV boss Merlin Polzin suggested ahead of the game that the club may risk the teenager, given the magnitude of the game.

Polzin is quoted by Bild as saying ahead of the Werdner clash: “Luka is continuing his rehabilitation. I remain optimistic. We’ll do everything we can to make sure he’s available before we leave. He came back from the international matches two or three weeks ago with a few minor niggles. Even just one training session was enough for him to play a great game.

“We’re trying everything. We’ve been able to gradually increase his workload. We’ll see how he’s doing after Friday’s training session. Given the importance of the game, we’d take a small risk. But it shouldn’t be without reason.”

Relief for Spurs as Hamburg opt against risking Vuskovic

It is unclear whether Tottenham got in touch with Hamburg regarding the youngster after Polzin’s comments, but they will be pleased with the outcome.

Vuskovic is already valued at over £50m, according to reporters and the Lilywhites certainly would not have wanted the youngster to risk a serious injury.

Spurs fans will be relieved that the centre-back has not been included in Hamburg’s matchday squad at the Weser Stadium this afternoon.
