Tottenham make approach to Real Madrid as path clears for Rodrygo signing - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now approached Real Madrid to make a request as the chips seem to be falling in the North London club’s favour in their pursuit of Rodrygo.

Just a couple of days ago, Spurs Web relayed a report claiming Tottenham are advancing their interest in Rodrygo after the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich cooled their interest in the Brazilian.

Since then, multiple outlets have said that Spurs have pressed forward with talks over a deal for Rodrygo, who is yet to make a final decision on his future.

Now, a new report has shed light on the exact step the North London club have taken as they eye a club-record deal for the Brazilian international.

Tottenham ask for permission from Real Madrid to speak to Rodrygo

This update comes from AS, who say that Tottenham Hotspur have now reached out to Real Madrid to ‘request authorisation’ to speak to the winger.

The report does not shed light on whether Spurs have been granted permission to speak to the player, but it is asserted that the Premier League side want to make Rodrygo ‘the jewel in the crown of Thomas Frank’s project’ at N17.

Even though Madrid are ready to sell the winger, the outlet warns that it will not be a simple operation for Tottenham to complete, with Los Blancos valuing the 24-year-old at €90m (£76m).

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that there are several factors that need to be ironed out before Rodrygo becomes a Spurs player, but one factor may be working in the Lilywhites’ advantage.

Path clearing for Spurs to sign Rodrygo

AS say that Spurs have not been put off by Real Madrid’s demand and have made it clear that they ‘want to negotiate’ a deal for the pacy winger.

The report says that ‘fortune seems to be smiling on Tottenham’ in their pursuit of the Santos academy graduate. This is because until last month, it seemed like there would be a bidding war for Rodrygo.

However, Chelsea and Liverpool are now prioritising a move for Xavi Simons and Alexander Isak, respectively, while money is short at Arsenal after the club spent big on Viktor Gyokeres.

As a result, Tottenham are now emerging as the only club with the required financial resources to land the Brazilian.

Thomas Frank provides injury update on James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, and Kota Takai - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has offered an update on James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, and Destiny Udogie’s injury blow, as Tottenham continue to struggle with fitness setbacks.

With Tottenham Hotspur still involved in pre-season games, Thomas Frank continues to assess his Spurs squad ahead of the upcoming season.

His side has already landed in Asia to take on Arsenal and Newcastle United, but the manager is yet to have a fully fit squad available for him to pick from.

Dejan Kulusevski remains sidelined, alongside Radu Dragusin, Bryan Gil, Kota Takai and more recently Destiny Udogie, who missed out in the tie against Luton Town after making it into the first eleven.

Speaking to the media during his press conference in Asia ahead of the clash against Arsenal, Thomas Frank provided an update on the fitness of Destiny Udogie.

The Italian full-back did not travel with the rest of the squad following his recent knock, and now Frank has opened up on the exact injury Udogie is nursing, although he refused to put an exact timeline on how long the 22-year-old will be out for.

Frank also updated Tottenham fans on the injury status of Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Kota Takai.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Dane said (Tottenham Official): “Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately, we don’t know the scale of it – weeks. Destiny got a knee injury (in the warm-up at Luton on Saturday) that we’re assessing at the moment, which has kept him out of this pre-season tour.

“Dom is looking much better, progressing, we’ll see if it’s too early for Arsenal, but we’re positive about him. Madders is looking better and better, could also be too early for Arsenal, again, we’ll see. Rodri is back from illness, so that’s good.”

Frank is aware of injury concerns at Spurs after last season

During Postecoglou’s time at the helm, Tottenham were one of the sides in the Premier League to have been greatly affected by injuries. In fact, a recent report ranked Tottenham Hotspur second on the injury table for the 2024/25 campaign.

Thomas Frank has now admitted that he is well aware of the injury record at Spurs and has stated that he would make tweaks to ensure they are not a regular occurrence.

He continued: “I know about the injury issues, but it is a problem for every club in the world. We have a good and long pre-season, so we can push the players. We are aware of how we want to train, we need to be aligned on how we want to play and train.

“There are gym sessions, recovery and the ability to compete in all tournaments. We are aware, and we will make a few adjustments so we can compete.”

Why Tottenham have agreed to loan Mikey Moore this season as Rangers advance - Spurs Web
Description

A new report has shed light on the details of Mikey Moore’s loan move to Rangers and why the Tottenham winger chose to join the Scottish Premiership side after receiving numerous offers.

According to various sources, Thomas Frank has reluctantly agreed to let Moore go out on loan after the teenager expressed a desire to play regular football next season.

It had emerged over the last week that several Champions League clubs are interested in loaning Moore, but it appears that the 17-year-old has now decided on his next destination.

Over recent days, Rangers had emerged as the clear frontrunners to land Moore, and the Tottenham man is now expected to be on his way to Ibrox for the season.

Will Rangers have an option to buy Mikey Moore from Tottenham?

Sky Sports have now revealed on their live transfer blog that Moore is now expected to complete a loan switch to the Glasgow giants.

However, they confirm that Rangers will not have an option or an obligation to buy the attacking midfielder, who is very much part of Tottenham Hotspur’s long-term plans.

The outlet says that Spurs and the player both believe that a season of regular first-team football would aid his development.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Tottenham academy graduate rejected several offers from the Championship to move to the Scottish club.

Will this change Spurs’ summer transfer objectives?

While Moore would have likely got some game time if he had stayed, there is no doubt that a full season of first-team football would be ideal for his long-term development.

Thomas Frank will be hoping that the youngster returns next summer ready to challenge for a place in his starting eleven.

Predicted Tottenham XI to face Arsenal as Mohammed Kudus makes North London Derby debut - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to continue their pre-season preparations with a high-profile fixture against Arsenal, taking place at the Kai Tak Sports Park in China. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Arsenal on Thursday.

This will be Thomas Frank’s first encounter with Arsenal since taking charge of Tottenham, and even though the fixture may be labelled a friendly, both sets of supporters will expect a spirited display.

The former Brentford boss will want to make a strong impression and could look to stamp his mark on a rivalry that has not favoured Spurs in recent times.

Tottenham’s last victory over their bitter rivals came in a friendly clash back in August 2021, and with Arsenal’s recent dominance in this fixture, there is added motivation for Frank to get one over Mikel Arteta’s side.

With that in mind, here is our predicted Tottenham XI to face the Gunners in China.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Arsenal

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Vicario and Antonin Kinsky have been sharing minutes in pre-season so far, with both featuring in the clashes against Reading and Luton Town, getting 45 minutes each. That could very much carry on against Arsenal.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: At right-back, we expect Pedro Porro to take his spot right there, as he continues to learn his new role under Thomas Frank.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Argentine looks set to remain at Tottenham and has been a part of two of Spurs’ last three pre-season games. He should be at the heart of the defence against the Gunners.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: This should be the first time the Dutch centre-back would partner up with Romero in pre-season, as we expect Frank to go full strength.

Left-back – Djed Spence: Spurs are very thin in the left-back position, something that became evident when Frank announced his pre-season tour squad. Davies is the next option to come in given Udogie’s absence due to injury. Regardless, we should see Spence fill in on the left.

Pivot Midfielder – Archie Gray: Gray was given a run in the tie against Luton Town in the holding midfield role. The youngster did the basics right and tried to be tidy with the ball. He should continue there against Arsenal.

Pivot Midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Gray could be joined by a fellow youngster in Lucas Bergvall, who could feature in the pivot alongside Gray or further high up the pitch.

Attacking Midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: Thomas Frank could very much get creative in his setup, using a 4-3-3 holding where he plays one pivot and uses Bentancur and Bergvall as two eights. Bentancur was expected to feature in one of the double-header friendly clashes on Saturday, but missed out due to a knock. We expect him to return to the XI this Thursday.

Left-winger – Heung-min Son: This could very much be Heung-min Son’s farewell tour if the Korean does secure a move to MLS side LA FC. As such, we expect him to feature in this clash and a lot more in Tottenham’s tour of Asia, given the contracts and agreements Spurs have with investors.

Striker – Mathys Tel: The young Frenchman could lead the line here, given that Solanke is nursing a knock. Solanke could also very much start from the off if he passes fit.

Thomas Frank’s comments on Heung-min Son seem telling despite Tottenham exit rumours - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has broken his silence on Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham, offering a measured yet hopeful take on where the club captain fits into his long-term plans.

Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain, after reports emerged in recent days that the Korean star is attracting interest from elsewhere.

LA FC are currently the most interested party this summer, with the MLS side very keen on securing the services of the Tottenham captain.

Son only turned 33 years old a few weeks ago and is well along in age. The Korean forward also has just under 12 months left on his current deal, which is set to keep him at Hotspur Way until the summer of 2026.

Thomas Frank outlines plans for Tottenham forward Heung-min Son

Thomas Frank, speaking in his latest press conference ahead of Tottenham’s match against Arsenal, has now shed more light on Son’s situation at Spurs.

The Dane has now revealed his plans for Heung-min Son amid links with the MLS, stating that the Korean remains a valuable asset to Tottenham and is a player who can help the team in different situations.

Thomas Frank said (via football.london): “I think everyone knows that Son has been one of the best players at Tottenham in the past 10 years. I think he’s been hugely successful from the left wing.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I also think he’s had some fantastic games down the middle as a number nine. So it’s important to have players who can play in more than one position, and it’s about having your best players on the pitch and available.

“So the thing about Sonny is that he will always score goals, and it’s just about getting him in those situations.”

Son recorded 11 goals and 11 assists last season for Tottenham and ended the campaign in the best possible way, lifting his first piece of silverware in a Lilywhite shirt after Spurs’ Europa League triumph.

What Son’s future could mean for Spurs’ attack

Rumours suggest that Tottenham are open to parting ways with Son if the right offer comes in for the versatile forward.

However, it is also claimed that Tottenham are not actively looking to push Son out of the club, preferring that he departs on his own terms if he chooses to do so.

Spurs reportedly make a minimum of £60 million each year from having Son in the squad. If the South Korean were to leave, Tottenham could look to sign a marquee forward to help replenish that income stream.

Still, it remains to be seen if this is a farewell tour for Son or not, as many fans feel now may be the right time for Tottenham to cash in.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will take their fierce rivalry to unfamiliar territory this week, as the north London derby headlines Spurs’ pre-season tour of Asia. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and Arsenal on Thursday.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour of Asia is set to kick off with a north London derby clash against Arsenal, offering fans a rare taste of the rivalry outside English soil.

This encounter will be the first-ever north London derby played abroad, a historic moment for both clubs, as they square off in front of a global fanbase, thousands of miles away from the traditional backdrop of the Emirates or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs come into this fixture having played three warm-up matches in England, although results have been less than convincing, with only one win in three – a 2-0 victory over Reading – followed by a 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers and a goalless stalemate against Luton Town.

New manager Thomas Frank will now look to ramp up preparations with two matches in Asia before concluding pre-season with a glamour tie against Bayern Munich in Germany.

When and where is the game?

The match will take place at the Kai Tak Sports Park Stadium on Thursday, 31 July 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 PM (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal in the UK

For fans in the UK, the north London derby will not be broadcast live on television. However, supporters can stream the game via SpursPlay.

Tottenham and Arsenal team news for Asia clash

Arsenal will be without several key players heading into the clash. Gabriel Jesus remains sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, while Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber are both recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. Meanwhile, Riccardo Calafiori is also expected to miss out due to a muscle issue.

Tottenham Hotspur also have their fair share of injury concerns. Bryan Gil is dealing with a knee problem, Dejan Kulusevski is nursing a more serious knee injury, while Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon are both recovering from muscle and calf issues, respectively. Radu Dragusin, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury, will also play no part in this tour.

Spurs Web prediction for Tottenham vs Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur’s record in the north London derby is rather poor and disappointing, and that would be something new boss Thomas Frank would be looking to change.

While it is not a competitive match, getting one over Arsenal would always matter a great deal to Tottenham fans, who would want to see their side show some fighting spirit.

The head-to-head record favours the Gunners, as Arsenal have not lost to Tottenham in their last six meetings, winning five and drawing one in that time. It being a pre-season fixture, we expect a draw in this tie.

10 records Harry Kane still holds at Tottenham Hotspur, they may never be broken

10 records Harry Kane still holds at Tottenham Hotspur, they may never be broken - Spurs Web
Description

Let’s take a look at the extraordinary records Harry Kane still holds at Tottenham Hotspur, and whether anyone is ever likely to beat them.

Tottenham Hotspur may have moved into a new era under Thomas Frank, but Harry Kane’s time at the club is far from forgotten.

It’s been two years since the English striker made his emotional move to Bayern Munich, yet many of his numbers remain untouched, and quite frankly, untouchable.

Here are 10 records Kane still holds at Spurs, along with whether anyone is realistically on course to dethrone the king.

Kane’s 280 goals in all competitions is still miles ahead of the next closest contender. It took him 13 years and countless screamers to overtake Jimmy Greaves (266).

How likely is it to be broken one day? – 1/10

Heung-min Son is closest, but he’s 32 himself and still over 100 goals behind. It would take a striker joining Tottenham at a very young age, staying for a decade, and hitting huge numbers every year without fail.

Yes, FIFTY-SIX in a single year. That 2017 Kane run was Messi-Ronaldo levels of madness.

MORE SPURS STORIES

How likely is it to be broken one day? – 1/10

A new striker would have to average nearly a goal a game across 12 months. That would need an insane run of form across all competitions. Only time will tell.

Arsenal fans hated facing him for a reason. Kane bagged 14 goals in just 19 derbies. No surprise Spurs haven’t won one since he left.

How likely is it to be broken one day? – 3/10

No one looks likely. Son has eight, but again, age is not on his side. Once again, someone would have to start playing for Spurs at a young age and average a goal a game across seven years to even equal Kane. Or, god forbid, someone does an Emmanuel Adebayor and plays for both teams.

Kane loved a match ball. He bagged 8 of them during his time in North London.

How likely is it to be broken one day? – 4/10

It’s hard to see anyone come close to this, but it is far more achievable than some of the other records in Harry Kane’s back catalogue.

He first scored 30 league goals in the 17/18 season. He then did it again in the 2022/23 campaign (when the club was in shambles). Kane still managed 30 Premier League goals.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 6/10

It’s not difficult to imagine a player going on a crazy run to break the 30 mark, even if it delves into one-season-wonder territory. We expect this record to tumble at some point in the next 10 years.

Kane scored 112 Premier League away goals while at Spurs. As a matter of fact, this tally also stands as the highest by any player in Premier League history.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 2/10

No one currently playing for Spurs has even hit 100 total Premier League goals apart from Son, let alone away from home.

Tottenham featured in Europe every season during the Mauricio Pochettino era, and Kane made the most of it being the starting striker. Most impressively, the majority of his 45 goals came in the Champions League, against Europe’s best. No Spurs player has ever been more reliable under the lights.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 3/10

This one not only requires an incredible level of consistency and longevity, but it also requires Tottenham to keep qualifying for Europe every single season.

In December 2017, Kane smashed in eight goals in a single month, a record haul that included back-to-back hat-tricks against Burnley and Southampton and remains Spurs’ highest ever monthly total.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 7/10

A team typically plays five to six league matches in a busy December. To beat Kane’s eight, a player would need to average at least 1.3 goals per game, even in a maximum six-match festive schedule. It sounds difficult, but someone is bound to hit a crazy purple patch eventually.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 4/10

It would take years of consistency. Nobody in the current Tottenham squad is on that kind of trajectory.

The English skipper became England’s all‑time top scorer whilst at Spurs after overtaking Wayne Rooney’s 53 goals.

How likely is it to be broken one day? 1/10

Spurs do have several young English forwards: Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore, and Will Lankshear. But they’ll need to remain at the club and earn a regular spot in the England national team in order to break this record.

Tottenham haven’t replaced Harry Kane yet

For all the goals and memories Harry Kane gave Spurs, his biggest legacy might be just how hard he is to replace. Of course, a few Spurs players have stepped up in moments, but no one has come close to matching Kane’s consistency or the ability to carry the team.

While Kane is off in Munich, breaking more records and finally lifting trophies, Spurs fans are still rooting for one of their own. However, unless Tottenham’s academy is hiding another generational No. 9, most of these records won’t be touched for a long, long time.

How much Tottenham would have to pay West Ham to land Lucas Paqueta this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may be handed a great market opportunity after being snubbed by Morgan Gibbs-White, with a new report claiming that Lucas Paqueta’s asking price has been slashed.

It emerged on Saturday that Gibbs-White had agreed a new deal with Forest, which came as a massive setback to Tottenham, who had worked on the deal for the last two and a half weeks after activating the midfielder’s release clause.

It remains to be seen which alternative the Lilywhites now turn to, with sources now reporting that Spurs may have missed their chance of signing Xavi Simons, who appears to be on his way to Chelsea.

Some Tottenham fans want to see the club sign Lucas Paqueta, and it was also suggested recently by TBR Football that Spurs may consider the West Ham attacking midfielder as an interesting market opportunity.

West Ham slash Lucas Paqueta’s asking price as Tottenham search for midfielder

The Daily Mail have now claimed that the East London club are ready to sell the 27-year-old for a cut-price fee this summer after missing out on an £80m payday for him two years ago.

At the time, the FA’s investigation into spot-fixing allegations against Paqueta prevented the Brazilian from completing a move to Man City.

However, the former Lyon man is in line to be cleared of all charges, and Graham Potter’s men are ready to cash in on him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Even though Paquetta still has two years left on his contract at the London Stadium, West Ham are ready to accept just £30m for him this summer.

Could Spurs sign a second West Ham star in the same window?

Mohammed Kudus became the first player to make a move from West Ham to Tottenham Hotspur in 14 years since Scott Parker made the move in 2011.

Given that the two clubs put their differences aside to agree on a deal for the Ghanaian, one would assume that the Hammers will be open to dealing with the Lilywhites again.

Manchester United receive contact from Tottenham about deal for academy graduate - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly quickly moving on from the Morgan Gibbs-White snub and have now initiated contact over a deal for the Nottingham Forest star’s England teammate.

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that over the last week, an increasing number of sources are now crediting Tottenham Hotspur with a serious interest in a Man United youngster, whose future at Old Trafford is in doubt.

It has been reported that Kobbie Mainoo is on Tottenham’s radar after the youngster fell down Rubem Amorim’s pecking order during the final months of last season.

Some sources have claimed that Spurs have a realistic chance of landing Mainoo this summer as the youngster’s talks with Man United over a new deal have hit a stalemate.

GiveMeSport have now claimed that Spurs have made their first contact over a deal for the Man United youngster as his contract issue remains unresolved.

The report asserts that Thomas Frank’s men love the versatility that the 20-year-old offers, and they have now launched some informal enquiries to understand how difficult a deal for the youngster would prove to be.

The North Londoners have been keeping an eye on the midfielder’s contract situation and have now decided to initiate contact.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is unclear if Spurs received any encouragement, with the report making it clear that Man United are not actively seeking a buyer for the England man at the moment.

Tottenham hope Man United change Mainoo transfer stance

GiveMeSport reveal that the hope at the North London club is that the Red Devils would be tempted to cash in on the midfielder if the contract standoff drags on.

The North London club see Mainoo as a great market opportunity, given that he is currently on a modest salary and has expressed a desire for regular game time.

Ahead of the World Cup year, the youngster may want to prove his value to Thomas Tuchel, and Spurs are hoping that this tempts the youngster to consider an exit from Old Trafford this summer.

Tottenham could swoop for Italian starlet as Inter Milan hesitate on transfer - Spurs Web
Description

Inter Milan’s latest transfer decision may open the door for Tottenham Hotspur to land one of the best young centre-backs in Italian football.

With Fabio Paratici still heavily involved in Tottenham’s transfer pursuits this summer, we know that the club will be keeping a close eye on the Serie A market, given the 51-year-old’s expertise and contacts in Italian football.

Over the past few days, some sources have indicated that Tottenham are considering making an offer for Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni.

The 18-year-old has impressed everyone with the composure he has shown in Serie A, and he is expected by many to be a mainstay of the Italian national side in the future.

As expected, it turns out that Tottenham Hotspur would have seen off plenty of competition to land the teenager this summer.

Tottenham may push ahead with Giovanni Leoni move after Inter Milan’s decision

A new report from the print edition of Corriere dello Sport has now revealed that Inter, who were previously the favourites to land Leoni, are now prioritising a move for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

This has opened the door for Tottenham and other Premier League clubs to tie up a deal for the young centre-back, who is said to be keen on swapping Parma for a Champions League club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leoni is also on the radars of Liverpool and Newcastle United, with all three Premier League sides now ‘gathering information’ about the young defender.

Parma want €35m (£30.3m) for their young starlet, and the report says that the English trio will not have any issues meeting their valuation.

Tottenham’s centre-back pursuit may depend on Luka Vuskovic decision

Now that Cristian Romero appears likely to stay at Tottenham, signing a centre-back is perhaps not as urgent for Spurs as it was a few weeks ago.

Some journalists have suggested that Thomas Frank may decide against signing a centre-back after being impressed by Luka Vuskovic, who has looked the part in pre-season.
