Fabrizio Romano reveals huge Savinho twist after Tottenham’s rejected offers - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano’s latest update comes as a major blow to Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.

It is public knowledge that Tottenham tried until the final days of the summer window to land Savinho, but in the end, they were unable to get a deal for the Man City star over the line.

This is despite claims that Savinho was keen on joining Spurs in the summer, but the Manchester club refused to allow the Brazilian to leave.

It has been reported by a number of sources over recent weeks that Tottenham will try again to land Savinho in January, but the Lilywhites may have to give up on the winger following the latest development over his future.

Man City closing in on Savinho agreement despite Tottenham bids

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to confirm that Pep Guardiola’s men turned down two offers from Spurs for the 21-year-old in the summer.

However, he explains that Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho may be over after the latest development on the player’s future.

Romano asserts that Man City are closing in on an agreement with the former Girona man over a new deal.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The contract talks between the club and Savinho are now said to be at an advanced stage, with the Brazil international set to pen a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham have already identified a Savinho alternative

On the back of this update, it looks like Thomas Frank’s men will have to give up on their dream of signing the Man City star.

It would appear that the Lilywhites have already moved on, with reports over recent weeks suggesting that Tottenham have identified Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas as an alternative to Savinho.

Truth about rumoured world-record £4.5 billion bid to buy Tottenham Hotspur revealed - Spurs Web
Description

The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has revealed whether there is any truth to reports that Tottenham Hotspur have received a world-record takeover bid from an American investor.

Earlier this month, Spurs confirmed that they rejected two approaches to buy the club, including one from PCP International Finance Limited, headed by former Newcastle United chief Amanda Staveley.

On Thursday, it emerged that a 12-person consortium, headed up by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick, launched a takeover bid worth £3.3 billion to buy Spurs.

It was explained that, in addition to the offer, the consortium had set aside an additional £1.2 billion to be spent on improving the Spurs first-team squad, bringing the total potential expenditure to £4.5 billion.

Tottenham have not received any new takeover bid

However, The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has now claimed that Spurs are yet to receive any new offer for the club, despite the rumours about the bid from the American consortium.

We know this because the 13 per cent shares of Tottenham, which is not owned by ENIC, remain publicly traded, which means the club is subject to the UK Takeover Code.

As a result, any expression of interest in buying the North London club or any offer must be lodged with the Takeover Code panel and made public.

MORE SPURS STORIES

So far, the Lewis family trust has not been made aware of any other interest in buying the club following the two rejected offers earlier this month.

The Lewis family are open to outside investment in Tottenham

Delaney adds that a source close to the Lewis family reiterated on Thursday that the club is not for sale.

However, interestingly, he explains that even though ENIC do not want to give up control, they are open to external investment into the club.

The journalist asserts that this is because the main focus of the Lewis family is on providing the required support to the top brass at Tottenham in order to achieve on-field success.

Chris Sutton predicts nervy Tottenham score against ‘desperate’ Wolves in the Premier League

Chris Sutton predicts nervy Tottenham score against 'desperate' Wolves in the Premier League - Spurs Web
Description

Chris Sutton has made his score prediction as Tottenham Hotspur host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League and he does not believe it will be a straightforward win for the home team.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed bag of results this season. They recorded a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night for the third time, but not every match has been so straightforward.

Spurs defeated Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad, which seems like comfortable margins. However, Pep Guardiola’s team had enough goalscoring opportunities to get something out of the game. Likewise, Tottenham’s win over Villarreal started to become a bit nervy in the closing stages of the match.

There have also been fixtures where Spurs have failed to secure a victory, including the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth before the international break. Most recently, Tottenham came back from two goals down against Brighton & Hove Albion, but were still unable to find the goal which would have secured all three points.

Chris Sutton predicts a narrow Tottenham win over Wolves

There have been occasions when a Spurs win has looked in doubt, but Thomas Frank and his team have managed to scrape a victory. It is for this reason that Chris Sutton believes Tottenham will defeat Wolves, even if they are not at their best.

He told BBC Sport: “Things are getting desperate for Wolves after five straight defeats in the league, but it is hard to make a case for them getting anything here.

“Tottenham showed great resilience to come back late on to rescue a point at Brighton last week. They have got that side to them now where you feel they can get something from games, even when things go wrong for them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I was at their Champions League win over Villarreal when they huffed and puffed but still got the job done. This game might not be entirely straightforward for them either, but I am expecting the same outcome.”

Chris Sutton’s prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Spurs have an abysmal record against Wolves

Sutton’s prediction may not prove too popular amongst Tottenham supporters. After all, Wolves sit rock bottom of the Premier League table.

However, Spurs have an awful head-to-head against Wolves. The visitors of Saturday’s clash have won five of the past 10 meetings between the sides, while Tottenham have only won four. Wolves have won four of their last five matches against each other, with Tottenham’s last win coming more than three years ago.

Wolves did defeat Everton in the Carabao Cup, so they will be feeling positive going into this game. It is therefore important that Spurs find their attacking flair and avoid a repeat of their last home fixture in the Premier League.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Wolves as Thomas Frank makes 8 changes - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham return to Premier League action this weekend with a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and all eyes will be on Thomas Frank’s team selection as he looks to build on recent momentum. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Wolves.

With Wolves at the bottom of the Premier League table and still searching for their first point of the season, Spurs will be eager to make a statement at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It is back-to-back home fixtures for Tottenham following their comfortable 3-0 win against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup, where Frank rang the changes and handed valuable minutes to several squad players.

With Frank making wholesale alterations in midweek, there is every expectation that he will once again shuffle his pack for the Premier League outing, though some names remain nailed on. Let’s see how Thomas Frank could line up this weekend.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Wolves

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Kinsky marked his first start of the season with a clean sheet against Doncaster Rovers, and while it was a solid showing from the Czech international, Vicario is expected to return between the posts despite his mistake in the draw with Brighton.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: The Spaniard featured in midweek but is unlikely to be rested, with Frank likely to stick with him on the right once more.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The captain was handed a breather in the Carabao Cup but should slot straight back into the starting XI here.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman has been in fine form under Frank and is expected to partner Romero again after sitting out the Doncaster tie.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Udogie impressed against Brighton in the league but was rested in midweek, with Spence filling in at left back for 75 minutes, before the Italian replaced him. Regardless, we expect Udogie to start against Wolves.

Pivot midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: With Tottenham playing at home against a struggling Wolves side, we do not expect Frank to go for a two-defensive-pivot pairing. Palhinha could be rested, while Bentancur anchors the midfield and dictates play from the base.

Centre-midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: The Swedish youngster impressed off the bench against Doncaster, registering an assist, and could be trusted from the start as Spurs look to stay on the front foot.

Centre-midfielder – Xavi Simons: After making his first start in the number ten role last time out, where he created the most chances in just 60 minutes, Simons could be handed his first Premier League start in the same position.

Right midfielder – Mohammed Kudus: The Ghana international is expected to return to his usual role on the right and provide attacking thrust.

Striker – Richarlison: With Muani and Solanke still sidelined and Tel failing to take his chances, Richarlison should lead the line once again.

Spurs return to Premier League action under the lights this weekend, with Thomas Frank’s side hosting Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and Wolves.

Tottenham Hotspur step back into Premier League duties after their midweek Carabao Cup involvement, which brought a comfortable 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers at home, ensuring progress in a competition that Thomas Frank will quietly fancy having a run in.

It was another solid display that highlighted the depth Frank has at his disposal, with Spurs showing composure and efficiency against a lower-league opponent.

Now, however, the attention returns to the bread and butter of the Premier League, and it is another home fixture, this time against a Wolves side still searching for their first point of the campaign.

When and where is the game?

Spurs will face Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, 27 September 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham vs Wolves in the UK

Supporters in the UK will be able to watch Tottenham vs Wolves live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, with coverage beginning shortly before kick-off.

Tottenham and Wolves team news

Tottenham remain without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Yves Bissouma, who are all sidelined through injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

There are also question marks over Randal Kolo Muani, Kota Takai and Dominic Solanke, although the trio are edging closer to a return.

As for Wolves, Andre is a doubt with a calf issue, while Enso Gonzalez is ruled out until at least January 2026 with a knee injury.

Spurs Web prediction for Tottenham vs Wolves

On paper, this is the sort of fixture Thomas Frank’s side should be winning, particularly against a Wolves team that has endured a miserable start to the season under Vitor Pereira.

Wolves have lost all five of their opening league fixtures and remain rooted to the bottom of the table without a single point, which highlights just how fragile their confidence will be heading into this game.

Tottenham, meanwhile, sit in third place and will want to shake off the frustration of their recent draw against Brighton by returning to winning ways, and given the form guide, it feels like the perfect opportunity to do so.

Joao Palhinha says his gut feeling about Thomas Frank at Tottenham has been proven right

Joao Palhinha says his gut feeling about Thomas Frank at Tottenham has been proven right - Spurs Web
Description

Joao Palhinha is delighted that his opinions of Thomas Frank have been proven correct after working with the Danish coach at Tottenham.

While things soured at times last season under Ange Postecoglou, the Australian was still a very popular figure among large swaths of the Spurs fan base.

That was demonstrated by the number of Spurs fans who were fuming with the decision to sack Postecoglou, with many believing that he had earned the right to have a third season.

However, Frank has managed to win over both the players and the Tottenham fans in no time, and Palhinha has now suggested why that might be.

Joao Palhinha raves about Tottenham manager’s qualities as a human

While positive results at the start of his tenure have certainly helped Frank win people over at Tottenham, it is also partly down to his personality, with the 51-year-old coming across as an extremely likeable guy.

Palhinha has revealed that even from the outside, he always felt that the Danish coach was a kind person and admitted that his gut feeling has proven to be correct.

When asked about working with Frank, the Portuguese international told Sky Sports One on One podcast: “For me, I followed Thomas at that time from outside because I didn’t know him. I never met him before. I just played against him when I was in Fulham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But when I was looking at him, he always looked like a coach with the right human [side]. For me, now that I’m sharing the pitch, these moments with him, for sure, that is his best quality. Apart, of course, [from] the other tactical really good things that he has.

“But the main for me, and the most important thing in the coach, is to be a real human being, like to be a great person, I think is the main thing probably that coach needs to be, need to be the best quality and make easy for us to players to speak, not just with him, but each other, the environment inside of the club. I think it’s a really good thing that not just me, but also my teammates have felt since he arrived.”

Spurs players have bought into Thomas Frank’s methods

It is clear from the way the Tottenham players are speaking about Frank that they have not just been won over by his personality but also his tactical nous.

Last week, Guglielmo Vicario said that Tottenham now know exactly what to do in each phase of play much better than they did last season.

David Bentley urges Tottenham to raid London rivals for England international

David Bentley urges Tottenham to raid London rivals for England international - Spurs Web
Description

David Bentley would love to see Tottenham show ambition by raiding Crystal Palace for one of their star players.

It has been widely reported that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Spurs, and Tottenham are seemingly on the lookout for a new number six.

Over recent weeks, it has emerged that Tottenham may test Atletico Madrid’s resolve to hold onto Conor Gallagher in January.

According to some sources, Spurs are exploring the possibility of bringing Ruben Neves back to the Premier League, while various outlets have suggested that Thomas Frank’s men are also big fans of Man United’s Kobbie Mainoo.

David Bentley urges Tottenham to sign Crystal Palace star

Based on these transfer links, it appears that the North London club are looking at midfielders with Premier League experience, and Bentley has now thrown another name into the hat.

The former Spurs winger admitted that he would love to see the Lilywhites raid Palace for Adam Wharton.

Bentley said on talkSPORT: “I think he (Frank) has a strong squad, defensively it looks strong. I think in the midfield, I like maybe the boy at Crystal Palace, the left-footed boy.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Someone like that who could sit in front and just dictate games. He’s being touted to Real Madrid and stuff like that, but if you can nip in and get a player like that, I think that advances you on.”

Tottenham have held talks regarding Adam Wharton

According to reports, Tottenham reached out to Palace over Adam Wharton late in the summer window, but the Eagles made it clear that their star man is not for sale.

However, the same report explained that the 21-year-old is also on the radars of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, thus making a deal very difficult for Spurs to do.

We have heard suggestions that, following the exit of Daniel Levy, Tottenham are ready to change their transfer strategy and target elite signings.

Spurs fans would feel that there is no better way for the Lewis family to signal their ambition than by greenlighting a big-money move for a player like Wharton, who is wanted by the biggest clubs in Europe.

£3.3billion takeover of Tottenham Hotspur launched with further £1.2billion set aside towards transfers

£3.3billion takeover of Tottenham Hotspur launched with further £1.2billion set aside towards transfers - Spurs Web
Description

A US consortium has launched a £4.5billion takeover of Tottenham Hotspur to take ownership of the club from ENIC.

There has been change at Tottenham in recent weeks after Daniel Levy stepped down as chairman with the Lewis family deciding to move on the 63-year-old, who had been in charge of the North London club for close to 25 years.

The offer is from a 12-person consortium which is being headed up by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick, who earlier this year came close to agreeing a deal to take over the Maserati MSG Formula E racing team.

Earlier this month ENIC insisted that Tottenham were not for sale in the wake of Levy’s exit to quell any speculation that moving on the chairman was part of a potential exit plan.

Tottenham are subject of world record takeover bid

The offer consists of a £3.3billion offer to purchase the club, along with a further £1.2billion which has been set aside for improving the playing squad, according to The Sun.

Earick is said to have assembled an investment panel consisting of eleven others who have experience in putting money into NFL and NBA franchises across the pond.

The transfer war chest would be made available to Thomas Frank from the January transfer window and would see the funds allocated towards wages, fees and agent payments.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He also has a £250million stadium naming rights deal in place for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, something which has not been achieved since the venue opened six years ago.

Levy had been hoping for a £25million-a-year stadium sponsorship package over a 25-year period which would have generated a world-record £375m, but was never able to get the deal over the line.

A source close to Earick told SunSport: “Brooklyn and his team think everything is in place at Tottenham already.

“Spurs has a world class stadium and training ground, the infrastructure is all in place.

“But with the investment they are ready to make, it will be the final step to turn the club into winners on the pitch as well.”

Initial talks were held between Earick and Daniel Levy, however, discussions have accelerated following the boardroom change at Tottenham.

What Kobbie Mainoo is now thinking amidst Tottenham’s transfer interest

What Kobbie Mainoo is now thinking amidst Tottenham’s transfer interest - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have a lot of work to do to convince Kobbie Mainoo to swap Old Trafford for N17 in January.

Through the summer transfer window, it was reported that Spurs may be ready to pounce on Man United starlet Kobbie Mainoo, but the youngster ended up staying put at Old Trafford.

The speculation has not stopped since the closure of the transfer window, with Tottenham and Newcastle United being backed to test the waters for Mainoo in January, as he continues to struggle for game time at Old Trafford.

Some journalists have even said that Spurs are one of the Man United star’s most likely destinations, even though the 20-year-old has also been mooted as a target for the likes of Real Madrid.

Kobbie Mainoo’s current focus comes as a blow to Tottenham

Manchester Evening News have now offered Tottenham Hotspur a blow by revealing that, for the moment, Mainoo remains focused and determined to win back a place in United’s starting eleven.

The report says that the midfielder is now working extremely hard in Carrington and doing everything in his power to impress manager Ruben Amorim.

The England international has even changed his private chef and is working with a private coach in an attempt to improve his game.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet says that Mainoo is desperate to play regularly for United and is highly motivated to get back into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.

What Ruben Amorim has said about Kobbie Mainoo

Tottenham will also not take heart from Rubem Amorim’s recent comments, which suggest that the Portuguese coach is not trying to get rid of the midfielder.

Amorim made it clear that he believes in Mainoo a lot and challenged the youngster to keep improving.

The Man United boss said about the Spurs target (via MEN): “Like a lot of guys, he wants to play more. I didn’t have a conversation with him before the window closed – I did this week.

“Because I don’t want Kobbie Mainoo thinking that I was having any conversation with him just to hold on to him. I don’t want that feeling. I believe a lot in Kobbie, but some of you think that Kobbie Mainoo is already done (the finished article). I think he can do so much better, he can improve in a lot.

“I think for some guys it is enough (their talent), but for him it is not enough. Maybe it’s not fair, but I think I’m helping Kobbie Mainoo, and that’s it. He will have opportunities like the other guys.”

Tottenham receive bittersweet news in pursuit of former Premier League midfielder - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur want to bring a former Premier League midfielder back to England, and a new report has shed light on the chances of that happening.

Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham in January, with the Mali international’s current deal running out next summer.

Spurs are seemingly on the lookout for a replacement, with several reports claiming that Conor Gallagher is on Spurs’ radar ahead of the January window.

The Lilywhites are also eyeing another midfielder with plenty of Premier League experience. It emerged last week that Tottenham are plotting to bring Ruben Neves back to England, a little over two years after he made a big-money move from Wolves to Al-Hilal.

Ruben Neves may be open to Tottenham move but there is one problem

TBR Football have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Neves, and they have handed the Lilywhites’ chances of securing the 28-year-old a boost.

They say that the Portugal international is seeking to return to Europe as he believes that he is only just coming into his prime years as a player.

However, the report explains that a transfer next summer is more likely for Neves than a move mid-season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet also asserts that Spurs could face competition from Newcastle and Man United, both of whom are also being kept informed of the midfielder’s situation.

Neves does not have his heart set on a Premier League return

TBR Football also spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who revealed that the former Wolves man does not want to swap Saudi Arabia for Europe, and would ideally prefer a return to England.

However, the journalist explained that the Al-Hilal man is also open to moving to Portugal, Spain or Italy, and is not restricting his options to the Premier League.

When asked about Neves’ future, Bailey told the publication: “I am told that Neves thinks there is ‘unfinished’ business in England – he had a wonderful time at Molineux and he is still highly respected.

“But it is not a given that he moves back to England. A return to Portugal would be considered whilst there is strong interest in Spain and Italy too – he is not going to be short of options.

“It is believed that Neves, given his substantial earnings during his stay in Saudi Arabia, won’t be looking for similar wages – he is in a good position that he will be able to choose the best club for him – this move will not be about the finances.”
