Description

The first half of the action has just ended between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in North London.

It has been a good few days for the club after Tottenham beat Bodo/Glimt to secure their place in the Europa League final where they will face Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have today headed into the dressing room currently trailing 1-0, when it should be at least 3-0.

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 highest score achievable for an outstanding display.

Here’s how the players rated –

Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace

Antonin Kinsky – 6

A first appearance for Kinsky since the FA Cup defeat at Aston Villa in February. Breathed a sigh of relief when he spilled the goal on his goal line. Showed good reactions to deny Sarr at his near post. Has been far busier than he would have liked.

Pedro Porro – 3

Only one of three players to retain their place from the Bodo win. Has had a difficult half up against Mitchell.

Kevin Danso – 4

Did well to get his leg in the way to block a shot from Mateta.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ben Davies – 3

Caught out of place for Mateta’s disallowed goal. Made an important block to deny Palace a shot on 30 mins.

Djed Spence – 1

Fortunate that Palace’s goal was ruled offside. He had tucked inside too much to give the visitors too much room to cross. Lost possession in the middle of the pitch, which resulted in Munoz crashing a shot against the crossbar – constantly out of position.

Pape Matar Sarr – 3

Sloppy in possession on more than one occasion.

Archie Gray – 4

Another rare outing in midfield but will be frustrated with not being able to make the most of the opportunity.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 4

Was given the captain’s armband but has not impacted the match, could not get back to stop the cross for Eze’s goal.

Mathys Tel – 5

Started out on the left but moved into the middle after Dejan Kulusevski’s withdrawal. With no creativity in midfield, has not had any decent service.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5

Operating centrally in the front three and was on the end of a whack to his knee from Guehi, which ended his match on 18 minutes.

Wilson Odobert – 3

Switched over to the left wing when Moore came on, nothing of note from the Frenchman.

Substitutes

Mikey Moore – 4

Brought on in place of Kulusevski but has been a passenger.

The Tottenham Hotspur team for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace has been revealed ahead of kick off.

Tottenham knocked Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt out of the Europa League semi final to book their place in the Europa League final to set up an all-Premier League clash where they will face Manchester United in Bilbao.

The Norwegians faced an uphill battle after their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this month after Spurs’ 3-1 win over Bodo in the first-leg tie.

Ahead of the Europa League final, Ange Postecoglou has unsurprisingly made changes to his side in order not to risk the prospect of injuries to some of his key players.

The Australian is already without three members of his Tottenham first-team squad, with James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Radu Dragusin already ruled out through injury.

Tottenham team news vs Crystal Palace

Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on Friday that Heung-min Son could return from injury to get some minutes under his belt ahead of the European showpiece later this month.

Palace are without talented midfielder Adam Wharton because of ankle ligament damage and have an FA Cup final to look forward to.

Harry Kane invites former Tottenham boss to see him lift his first trophy - Spurs Web
Description

Harry Kane’s long wait to win a trophy is over, with the striker getting his hands on the Bundesliga winners’ medal, and he decided to invite one of his former Tottenham coaches to the trophy celebrations at the Allianz Arena.

Kane will be delighted to have won his first trophy in the game, and hopefully, it is the first of many to come over the next few years.

He and Eric Dier proudly hoisted the Meisterschale along with their Bayern teammates as Vincent Kompany’s men ensured that the trophy returned to the Allianz Arena, its rightful home.

To celebrate the occasion with him, the Tottenham Hotspur legend invited someone who not only coached him in the Spurs academy but was the man who gave him his first opportunities in the first-team set-up at White Hart Lane.

Kane makes an admission about Tim Sherwood’s influence

Tim Sherwood watched Kane from close quarters as a youngster during his time with the Tottenham academy set-up.

When he was handed the head coach job on an interim basis for the second half of the 2013-14 season, Sherwood did not think twice about putting Kane into the team in place of the expensive Roberto Soldado.

The striker has not looked back since, and he has not forgotten the role that the English coach played in his career, inviting him for the trophy celebrations at the Allianz Arena.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Kane posted on the Cleats Club: “Great to invite Tim Sherwood to the game tonight. An important part of the career and journey until this point.”

Harry Kane backed to make a Tottenham return in the future

While there is no suggestion that the striker is going to leave Bayern anytime soon, Tottenham have a first refusal clause in Kane’s contract. The Lilywhites are thus in a strong position to bring him back to the club whenever he decides to end his adventure in Bavaria.

Chris Sutton believes Kane will be tempted to return to Tottenham one day and finish his career at the North London club.

However, that day appears a long way away at the moment, with the 31-year-old no doubt keen to win a lot more trophies in Munich and seal his legacy.

Description

Harry Kane is over the moon that Spurs managed to secure passage into the final of the Europa League, with the former Tottenham striker admitting that he will be cheering the Lilywhites on in the final in Bilbao.

After a long wait, the England captain finally won his first trophy last week as Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga Champions, and Spurs fans on social media were delighted to see Kane end his silverware drought.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to end their own 17-year trophy drought as they take on Manchester United in the final on May 21.

The Lilywhites have come close to winning several major honours over the last decade and a half, but have always tended to fall at the final hurdle, as Kane himself will be painfully aware of.

Harry Kane says Tottenham players should be proud

Kane pointed out that reaching the Europa League final is no mean feat, particularly considering the struggles Spurs have had in the Premier League.

He admitted that the final is a huge game for the club, and he will be cheering on his former side on against the Red Devils.

When asked about Tottenham’s passage into the final, Kane said on the Cleats Club: “It feels great to be honest. Obviously, big congratulations to Spurs. I know it’s been a tough season in many ways, but to get to a Europa League final is no easy feat.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They should be proud of themselves. Obviously, one more game to go, a big game for the club. I’m obviously wishing them all the best, and I’ll be watching them in a couple of weeks.”

Can Spurs follow Kane’s lead and break their curse?

Harry Kane’s infamous trophy curse has now officially been broken, and Tottenham will hope that they can now do the same in Bilbao.

While Spurs players may feel the burden of the club’s disappointing recent history when they step out onto the pitch in the final, they will know that they can beat Man United, having done so thrice already this season.

Spurs fans, being eternal pessimists, would certainly not be confident going into the final, but they can dream that their side can pull off something special.

Tottenham predicted Europa League final with secret message 11 months ago - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham predicted it all along – a Europa League final in Bilbao that was teased way back before a ball had even been kicked.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a disastrous Premier League campaign, one that even the most pessimistic of supporters would not have predicted.

At the time of writing, Tottenham are firmly rooted in 16th place on the Premier League table, but despite their horrid league campaign, they have secured a place in the final of the UEFA Europa League.

On Thursday, May 8, Tottenham beat Bodo/Glimt 2-0 at the Arctic Circle, sealing a 5-1 aggregate win and setting up a final tie against English rivals Manchester United.

Tottenham predicted the Europa League final in Bilbao

Indeed, for all the anguish and frustration Spurs supporters have endured this season in the league, it was pure elation for the travelling fans after the club confirmed their place in the final at San Mames.

However, what has taken many by surprise is the idea that the club might have had this outcome in mind all along – a theory sparked by the launch of this season’s away kit.

During the kit announcement video released last summer, eagle-eyed fans spotted a curious closing message on screen that read, “Holiday special: Destination Bilbao, Spain” – a detail that felt innocuous at the time, but has now taken on new significance.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bilbao, of course, is the venue for this season’s Europa League final, and Tottenham have now earned their spot there, just as the club’s kit video seemed to foreshadow.

Spurs fans prepare for Bilbao trip after Europa League charge

Tottenham supporters are understandably ecstatic to see their team fighting for a major piece of silverware, especially in a season that has offered very little to cheer about domestically.

Ticket details for fans hoping to travel to Bilbao have now been released, with 14,770 tickets allocated to Tottenham – this includes 25 pairs for wheelchair users and an additional 15 pairs of easy-access seats.

For those who cannot make the trip to Spain, the club will host a watch-along event at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, May 21, giving fans a chance to come together for what could be a historic night.

The dream ending to this rollercoaster of a season would be for Tottenham to lift a trophy that has eluded them for years – and in doing so, turn a campaign of despair into one of unexpected glory.

Tottenham receive early loan enquiry from West Brom to sign forward next season - Spurs Web
Description

New reports state that West Brom have set their sights on Tottenham forward Jamie Donley, with the Championship club enquiring about a potential loan deal for next season.

Jamie Donley has certainly impressed at Leyton Orient this season, with Donley named Leyton Orient’s Player of the Season earlier this week.

For a youngster experiencing his first taste of senior football, it is a standout achievement – one the 20-year-old Tottenham loanee can be proud of, particularly given the demands of League One football.

Orient as a team have also held their own, with the O’s squeezing into sixth place in League One and keeping their promotion hopes to the Championship alive as they eye the play-off route. They recorded a 2-2 draw with Stockport in their home leg on Saturday afternoon.

West Brom make move for Tottenham forward Jamie Donley

Jamie Donley is expected to return to Spurs this summer, with the club planning to assess the next phase of his development and whether he is ready to be integrated into the first-team setup.

Donley himself has made no secret of his ambition next season, stating that he would love to stake a claim for a place in the Tottenham first team heading into the new campaign.

However, a step up to the Championship appears likely, with reports now stating that West Brom has now enquired about the youngster’s availability.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to a report by West Brom journalist Charlie Haffenden, the Baggies are keen on a straight loan deal for the versatile forward, who has scored eight goals and provided 10 assists during his time with Leyton Orient.

His tweet on X reads: “Understand West Brom have enquired about Tottenham Hotspur forward Jamie Donley’s availability ahead of next season. #WBA interested in a straight loan. The 20-year-old has scored eight and assisted 10 on loan at League One side Leyton Orient this season.”

Why a Championship loan makes sense for Jamie Donley and Spurs

Given his numbers this season – eight goals and 10 assists in League One – it comes as no surprise that West Brom are circling around Jamie Donley, with his blend of creativity and intelligence in the final third standing out.

The natural next step for the youngster would be a move to the Championship or potentially even a top-flight side abroad, where the level of competition would allow him to sharpen the edges of his game.

West Brom are unlikely to be the only side interested once the window opens. If Leyton Orient do manage to seal promotion via the play-offs, do not rule out a return bid for the 20-year-old either.

Bodo/Glimt star reveals Cristian Romero put him in his place after Tottenham goal - Spurs Web
Description

Cristian Romero’s fiery exchange with Jostein Gundersen during Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Bodo/Glimt has now been revealed, with things getting a little heated during the game.

Tottenham Hotspur did what was expected of them when they went visiting Norway to take on Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their Europa League campaign.

A 2-0 win at the Arctic Circle saw Spurs claim a 5-1 aggregate victory over the Norwegian champions across the two legs.

It was a cagey affair with Bodo/Glimt having the majority of the possession with 69% on the night, yet Tottenham put in one of their most complete displays of the season, keeping a clean sheet while also limiting Glimt to just two shots on target.

Cristian Romero was involved in a heated exchange with Jostein Gundersen

Before the clash, the Glimt players were giving it large to Tottenham, stating that Spurs’ pressing was like that of a mid-table Norwegian side, insisting that it was a part of Tottenham’s game they were looking to exploit.

After a goalless first half, Dominic Solanke struck in the 63rd minute, before Pedro Porro got his name on the scoresheet six minutes later.

As the Tottenham players celebrated, it has now been revealed by TV2 that Spurs star Cristian Romero had a heated exchange with Bodo/Glimt’s Jostein Gundersen on Thursday night.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The incident is said to have taken place when Romero and his teammates were celebrating Porro’s goal in front of the Norwegian club’s fans. This did not please Gundersen, who had a verbal spat with the Tottenham defender.

The news outlet got in touch with the 29-year-old Norway international, who insisted he did not like what he saw from Tottenham.

Gundersen said: “I feel like they are trying to get on our nerves. I did not like that. That is football. After the match there was a ‘handshake’ and a good atmosphere.

“He [Romero] first started with some comments to me, and then I responded. He said something like ‘you guys should not talk so much’. It was in the heat of the match. Then we will put it behind us.

“The referee said we should not argue, and we had to calm down. He did not want anything like that. If we went to each other, we would get a card.”

Spurs one step from European glory after booking a place in the Europa League final

When asked what he thinks of Spurs getting upset with him, the defender said: “I think we should take it as a compliment. They were nervous about how it would go. They took us very seriously. It meant everything to them.”

Tottenham have now booked themselves a place in the final of the Europa League, a tie set to take place less than two weeks from now.

Tottenham may have to fight Saudi club to land new top manager target - Spurs Web
Description

A Premier League manager, who is high on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer, is attracting interest from a Saudi Pro League club and may receive a life-changing financial offer.

Some outlets have reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are expected to turn their attention to Marco Silva after learning that their top managerial target, Andoni Iraola, is leaning towards staying at Bournemouth.

According to a recent report by Football Insider, Silva is open to taking the Spurs job this summer, with the Portuguese coach thought to be looking for a new challenge after four years in Craven Cottage.

It has been revealed that Silva’s contract has a £8m release clause, which means that any interested club need not negotiate with Fulham if they are prepared to pay the fee.

Marco Silva emerges as a top target for Al Hilal

Sky Sports have now revealed that Al Hilal are prioritising a move for the Fulham head coach, having identified him as the man to replace the recently sacked Jorge Jesus.

However, the report says that Silva is not considering making the jump to the Middle East at the moment and is happy in the Premier League.

It is revealed that Al-Hilal offered the former Everton boss a two-year deal worth £40m two years ago, which he rejected. While there remains a possibility of the Saudi club making a similar eye-watering offer this time, it is thought that he is not thinking about leaving England right now.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Interestingly, Sky Sports do not just reference Tottenham’s interest but actually asserts that Marco Silva is now ‘one of the favourites to become the Tottenham Hotspur head coach’ if the North London club decide to part ways with Postecoglou.

Fulham’s latest move suggests they fear losing Silva

The Portuguese coach has one year left on his contract, but it does not appear as if the West London club are confident he will see it out.

Just a couple of days ago, it emerged that Fulham have started looking for a potential replacement for Silva.

The report claimed that the Cottagers are considering an approach for Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl, which is perhaps a clear indication that they fear losing their manager at the end of the season.

Tottenham demand £5m more than English club are offering for winger - Spurs Web
Description

The race for one Tottenham Hotspur winger is now heating up, and one newly promoted Premier League side only have to iron out a small difference with the North London club to land the player.

Spurs will be delighted with how Manor Solomon has performed on loan at Leeds, with the winger putting himself in the shop window by playing a key role in helping the Yorkshire club win the Championship title and secure promotion to the Premier League.

It thus comes as no surprise that Leeds are now working on a deal to sign Solomon permanently ahead of their return to the top-flight.

However, according to various sources, Daniel Farke’s men are expected to face competition domestically, as well as from abroad, for Solomon, as the race for the Tottenham man heats up.

Leeds hoping to bring down Tottenham asking price for Manor Solomon

TBR Football have now confirmed that Tottenham will allow the 25-year-old to depart this summer, with the proceeds from his sale going down as pure profit on the PSR front since he was signed as a free agent.

The report confirms that Leeds are keen to add Solomon to their squad on the back of his exemplary performances this season.

However, it is revealed that while Tottenham Hotspur want £20m for the wide-man, Leeds are hoping to get him for closer to £15m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by naming Marseille and Everton as Leeds’ main competitors in the transfer race, but the Spurs man is thought to prefer a switch to Elland Road.

Message coming out of Leeds about Solomon is clear

On the back of his impressive showing on loan, Leeds fans on social media are desperate for Solomon to remain at the club.

The Leeds head coach has also sent some positive messages recently, with Daniel Farke hinting that Leeds had begun working on a deal to sign Solomon.

It would appear that the newly promoted club are determined to sign the winger, but Spurs will be hoping that an ensuing bidding war can push up the price.

What Tottenham have already told Mathys Tel about his future - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly already spoken to Mathys Tel’s representatives about their plans for the forward this summer on the back of his improved showing over recent weeks.

While the 20-year-old did not hit the ground running at Spurs, that is perhaps to be expected of a youngster getting his first taste of the Premier League, particularly given that he arrived at a club who have been in disarray for much of the season.

The on-loan Bayern Munich man has started delivering over recent weeks, and Ange Postecoglou has praised Tel for his impact of late, admitting that he and his coaching staff have been delighted with the attitude and application the forward has shown.

However, reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham do not plan on activating the £45m option to buy Tel and instead want to renegotiate a discounted deal with Bayern.

Tottenham tell Mathys Tel what their plans are

According to TBR Football, Spurs have now opened talks with the France Under-21 international’s entourage over his future.

The report claims that the North London club have indicated to the forward’s representatives that they would like him to stay beyond the summer.

It is revealed that Tel has settled very well at the club and is enjoying his time in London, and Tottenham have been impressed enough to sign him permanently.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, this update also suggests that Spurs do not intend to pay the full £45m and are hoping to land the youngster for closer to around £30m.

What is Bayern Munich’s stance on Tel?

TBR Football indicate that Bayern are keen to offload Tel this summer if he expresses a desire to join Tottenham Hotspur permanently.

The Bavarian side are trying to put together a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and need to sell some players to do that, with the French forward expected to be sacrificed.
