Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for crucial squad decisions ahead of the summer transfer window, with a few players facing uncertain futures at the club.

One of those players is Timo Werner, whose loan spell in North London is unlikely to be extended beyond this season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the situation, revealing that Spurs have already made the decision not to activate the option to sign the German forward permanently.

Romano pointed out that Werner’s time at Tottenham has not unfolded as expected, and both parties see a mutual benefit in moving on. As a result, the expectation is that the forward will return to RB Leipzig before assessing his next career move.

Speculation has also linked Werner with a potential switch to Major League Soccer, with New York Red Bulls rumoured to be interested. However, Romano noted that while there were discussions in January, nothing concrete materialized, leaving his future open to further developments in the summer.

Speaking on Market Madness, Romano said:

“Yeah, I think you’ve been nice with unlikely. I think it’s impossible. From my information, it’s something that they already decided internally.

“It was not a good season for Werner and for Spurs together. So I think it’s in the interest of both parties to try something different next season. So the expectation is for Werner to return to Leipzig and then to try a new experience.

“In terms of MLS and New York, what I was hearing in January when this rumour started for the January window is that there was nothing really concrete into it. Let’s see for the summer. In January was never really close, from what I heard.”

Werner initially arrived at Tottenham on loan from RB Leipzig in January 2024 and made an immediate impression by assisting Rodrigo Bentancur’s goal in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United on his debut. However, despite flashes of quality, a lack of consistency and injuries have prevented him from making a significant impact.

So far this season, Werner has featured in 27 matches across all competitions, largely as a substitute, registering just one goal and three assists. A hamstring injury earlier this year also forced him to miss 10 games, further disrupting his momentum.

With Tottenham bringing in 19-year-old Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on loan—with an option to buy for €55 million—it appears increasingly unlikely that Spurs will prioritize retaining the 28-year-old Werner beyond this campaign.

Manager refuses to rule out a summer move for Tottenham attacker – report

Tottenham Hotspur made several loan moves last summer to reshape their squad, with Manor Solomon among the players temporarily departing North London.

The Israeli winger joined Leeds United on a season-long loan and has since played a vital role in their promotion push.

Under the guidance of Daniel Farke, the Whites currently sit at the top of the Championship table with a three-point lead, and Solomon has been instrumental in their success.

His impressive performances have fueled speculation about a permanent move, and while Leeds are keen on keeping him beyond this season, Farke has made it clear that any decision will depend on the club securing promotion, refusing to rule out a summer move.

The German manager acknowledged that Solomon’s future remains uncertain, as it involves discussions between three parties—Leeds, Tottenham, and the player himself. He stressed that no final decision will be made until the season concludes and Leeds’ league status is confirmed.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke stated:

“I always like to be in the driver’s seat as a club but if you have a loan agreement you’re not in the driver’s seat, there are more or less three parties.

“It’s not our players, you have to totally respect they are with us, that’s great, we enjoy the time and then there is a time to speak about what the future might bring.

“It’s not during the season, especially during a crucial time. You sometimes start talks behind the scenes before the end of the season. It will be crucial for them and their mother clubs, where we will be next season. Before it’s confirmed it doesn’t make sense to make decisions. It will only be made when it’s confirmed in which league we will play.”

Solomon arrived at Tottenham in July 2023 on a free transfer after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk, signing a five-year contract. He made his Premier League debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win against Manchester United and later assisted twice in a 5-2 victory over Burnley.

Despite showing promise, the 25-year-old was sent on loan due to the competition for places in Spurs’ attacking lineup. Since moving to Elland Road, he has flourished, recording seven goals and eight assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. (Transfermarkt)

His strong performances have solidified his importance to Leeds’ promotion bid, making him a potential long-term asset for the club.

If Leeds secure a return to the Premier League, a permanent transfer for Solomon could be on the cards. With Tottenham already well-stocked in attack, the winger may be set for a fresh chapter away from North London.

Aston Villa want to sign James Maddison from Tottenham

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing James Maddison from Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has established himself as a player for the north London club since joining them from Leicester City. However, his performances have been inconsistent at times, and the player has attracted criticism because of that. Maddison has been labelled as Tottenham’s “main man” recently.

Regardless, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is impressed with the player, and he has identified the England international as his main target for the summer transfer window. According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham are in no hurry to sell the player, and they would only sanction his departure for a substantial offer.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa are willing to pay over the odds for the 28-year-old playmaker. They are pushing for European qualification and they need quality players in order to improve further. There is no doubt that Maddison would help them improve further. He will help create goal-scoring opportunities in the final third and find the back of the net as well.

Aston Villa do not need James Maddison

With that said, the West Midlands club already have a similar player in Morgan Rogers and he has done quite well for them so far. It will be interesting to see how they accommodate both players in the starting lineup. Maddison is unlikely to sit on the bench at Aston Villa if he joins the club. He will seek gametime assurances before committing to a move.

Aston Villa need to improve the other areas of their squad as well, and spending a substantial amount of money on an attacking midfielder does not make a lot of sense. They should prioritise the other areas of their squad. They are already well-stocked in the attacking midfield unit with Rogers and Marco Asensio (on loan).

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are keen on signing the Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has struggled for regular game time at the Spanish club, and he has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou. According to a report from Fichajes, he will cost around €40 million during the summer transfer window.

The report states that Tottenham and Arsenal are persistent in their pursuit of the player, and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done. Tottenham could use a dynamic forward who is capable of slotting anywhere across the front three and will contribute with goals and creativity.

The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his quality and potential. He has played in the Premier League before with Manchester City and he won the league title with them during his time in English football. He has the experience and the quality to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact in England.

Arsenal keen on Ferran Torres

Similarly, Arsenal need more depth in the final third as well. They have not been able to rotate key players like Bukayo Saka due to the lack of options. The Spanish international could be the ideal acquisition for them. He is capable of slotting in anywhere across the front three.

The 24-year-old will be desperate for regular game time and a move to Arsenal or Tottenham could be exciting for him. They are among the biggest clubs in the country and they could provide him with a competitive platform and more exposure.

The two clubs have the financial muscle to pay €40 million for him, and it will be interesting to see if they follow up on their interest with an official offer to sign the player in the coming months.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo at the end of the season.

They are looking to add a dynamic forward to their attacking unit and the Ghanaian International is on their radar. According to a report from Fichajes, the cherries have set an asking price of around €60 million for the attacker.

Semenyo has 9 goals and 5 assists to his name this season and he could prove to be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. Naturally, he is a right-sided winger, but he is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three. He will add goals, pace, and flair to the Spurs attack. His arrival would add some much-needed unpredictability going forward.

The 25-year-old could be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham as well. It would be a step up in his career and he would get to play alongside better players and compete for trophies in the coming seasons.

Semenyo could improve further

The winger is highly rated in the Premier League and his teammate Lewis Cook believes that he has all the ability in the world and he could go on to another level in future.

“As a team, we knew the quality he has and we saw that last year. He’s got to just keep working hard – being aggressive and being clinical,” Cook told BBC.

“He’s got a lot better at running back and helping out the team too. He’s a powerful lad and has all the ability in the world. Hopefully he can continue to show that.”

The player is still only 25, and he will only improve further with coaching and experience. He is yet to enter the peak years of his career and Tottenham would do well to secure his signature. Although the reported €60 million asking price might seem steep, the Ghanaian has the ability to justify the investment in the long-term.

Tottenham enter race to sign Samu Aghehowa

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Porto striker Samu Aghehowa at the end of the season, and they will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea according to CaughtOffside.

The 20-year-old striker has been quite impressive since he has moved to the Portuguese club and he has 19 goals in all competitions this season. He has all the attributes to develop into a top class player and it is no surprise that the big clubs are keen on him.

Former Atletico Madrid scout Javier Vidales has described the player as “very intelligent”.

He said: “When talking about Samu, people tend to focus on physical condition. But it goes much further than that. He is not just a robust striker, who plays with his back to goal and keeps possession of the ball, distributing it to his teammates. He is very intelligent. Playing with just him is like playing with two attackers but having only just one.”

Tottenham need to add more quality and depth through the attacking unit and signing another striker would be a wise decision. Aghehowa has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in English football and he could form a solid partnership with Dominic Solanke. The striker was linked with Tottenham before he joined Porto.

The 20-year-old is more than just a goal-scorer, and his ability to hold up the ball and bring others into the play, will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. However, he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and Porto could easily demand a premium for him.

Arsenal and Chelsea want Samu Aghehowa

Arsenal need to bring in a reliable finisher as well. Gabriel Jesus has not been able to score goals consistently, and they need to bring in an upgrade on the Brazilian international. It remains to be seen whether they can win the race for the Spanish striker. As far as Chelsea are concerned, Nicolas Jackson has shown improvement this season, but the Blues need more depth in that area of the pitch.

It will be interesting to see where the highly talented Spanish striker ends up eventually.

Doctor shares concerning update on Tottenham star Cristian Romero

Tottenham Hotspur continue to grapple with injury setbacks this season, with several key players spending extended periods on the sidelines. One of the most pressing concerns is vice-captain Cristian Romero, who has been out of action for nearly three months due to a hamstring injury.

His absence has been a significant blow to Ange Postecoglou’s defensive setup, leaving Spurs without one of their most dependable figures at the back.

Doctor: Cristian Romero may have suffered a re-injury

According to sports science and physical therapy expert Dr. Rajpal Brar, Romero is currently recovering from a Grade 3 muscular injury. The severity of the issue, coupled with the amount of time he has already missed, raises concerns about the risk of re-injury should he return prematurely.

Dr. Brar pointed out that there is no clear-cut timeline for Romero’s return, as it largely depends on how well he responds to training and match preparations.

He further explained that the Argentine defender would need at least three to four days of full first-team training before being considered fit for match action.

Speaking to Tottenham News, the doc remarked:

“This sounds like a Grade 3 muscular injury but the tricky part is how much time he’s missed this season and if this is a re-injury.

“There’s no guaranteed timeline for when he will be able to start with minimal injury risk, it all just comes down to how he responds to bounce matches and consistent minutes in matches.

“I think it’s still unlikely he’s back in time for the next one. If he is to be fit, he’ll need at least three to four days of full first-team training.“

With Tottenham gearing up for a crucial Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, it remains highly doubtful that Romero will be available for selection. His prolonged absence has left a noticeable gap in Spurs’ defence, particularly in high-stakes encounters where his leadership and aggressive style of play would be invaluable.

Since arriving at Tottenham from Atalanta in 2021—initially on loan before making his move permanent in 2022—Romero has cemented himself as one of the league’s most formidable centre-backs. His performances earned him the role of vice-captain for the 2023–24 season.

Unfortunately, injuries have hampered his contributions this season, restricting him to just 14 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored once. Despite his recent fitness concerns, the club are reportedly set to offer him a new bumper contract.

Spurs will be eager for his return as they aim to make a deep run in the Europa League while stabilizing their league form.

Mikey Moore expected to be back for Europa League clash vs AZ Alkmaar

Tottenham Hotspur may be dealing with another injury concern as uncertainty surrounds the fitness of young winger Mikey Moore.

The promising teenager was notably absent from Spurs’ squad during their recent 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League, raising questions about the reason behind his omission.

Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has suggested that Moore’s absence was likely due to a minor injury rather than a selection decision by Ange Postecoglou. Given that the 17-year-old had played in four of Tottenham’s last five matches, his sudden exclusion seemed unusual.

While the setback is not expected to be serious, Tottenham will be eager for Moore’s swift recovery, particularly with a vital Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar approaching.

With Timo Werner unavailable for European competition, Moore could have a key role to play in the upcoming knockout rounds.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham stated:

“I don’t think Moore will be feeling any type of way about being left out.

“He might have suffered a small knock because you’ve got to remember before the game against City, Moore had started four out of five.

“Therefore, it would be unusual if he was suddenly left out of the squad, and he hadn’t suffered an injury of some sort. As a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has suffered a small knock.

“However, I expect to see him return to the squad against AZ Alkmaar, because Timo Werner is of course now ineligible in the UEFA Europa League.”

Mikey Moore has had a breakthrough season

Moore has been one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from Tottenham’s academy in recent years. His rapid rise continued with the signing of his first professional contract in August last year, followed by his European debut in September—a 3-0 victory over Qarabağ FK in the Europa League.

Moore further underlined his potential by scoring his first senior goal earlier in January, setting a new record as England’s youngest-ever scorer in a major European competition.

This season, the talented winger has already made 18 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists. However, his campaign has been disrupted by injuries, including a two-month absence due to a virus that forced him to miss 14 matches.

With Tottenham still in contention for silverware in the Europa League, Moore’s return to action would provide a significant boost. Postecoglou will be hoping to have the teenager available for the crucial first leg against AZ Alkmaar.

Tottenham considering making £138m bid to sign Premier League duo

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a significant summer transfer window, with manager Ange Postecoglou prioritizing key signings to bolster his squad. As the North London club looks to strengthen ahead of the new season, Crystal Palace duo Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze have emerged as primary targets.

According to reports from GiveMeSport, Spurs are considering a combined bid of £138 million for the highly-rated pair.

Tottenham eyeing summer move for Crystal Palace duo

The club has long admired Eze and previously attempted to sign the attacking midfielder last summer. The 26-year-old, whose contract at Selhurst Park runs until 2027, has been a standout performer in the Premier League, showcasing his technical ability and goal-scoring prowess.

This season, Eze has registered six goals and seven assists in 28 appearances across all competitions, further solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most exciting playmakers.

Tottenham are also keen to secure the services of Marc Guehi after failing in their attempts to sign him during the January transfer window. The club reportedly submitted a bid close to £70 million in the final days of the window, but the offer fell short of Palace’s valuation and was swiftly rejected.

They ended up signing Kevin Danso on loan instead from Lens, who has made an instant impact with strong performances at the back, earning praise from the manager and pundits.

While Spurs have an option to make his loan deal a permanent one, Guehi remains a big target for the club. The 24-year-old English defender is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in the league. Since his £18 million move from Chelsea to Palace in 2021, Guehi has been a rock in defence, attracting interest from multiple top clubs.

The report claims that Tottenham are keen to assess whether Guehi and Eze would be open to a move before launching formal bids. Palace, understandably, will be reluctant to let go of two of their most prized assets, but Spurs are expected to test with substantial offers in the coming months.

Eze’s arrival would inject much-needed creativity into Postecoglou’s attacking setup, while Guehi’s defensive solidity could provide long-term stability at the back.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Spurs to see if they can complete these high-profile signings and further strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their defensive unit with the signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton.

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old central defender, and they could look to make a move for him in the summer. It is no secret that they need a quality central defender and the Southampton star could prove to be the ideal acquisition. They have been linked with multiple defenders recently.

He has shown his quality in the Premier League with the Saints, and he will want to compete at a high-level next season. Southampton are likely to go down to the Championship and the 23-year-old defender will not want to compete in the second division of English football.

Multiple other Premier League clubs are keen on providing him with an exit route. Newcastle, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Brighton and West Ham are all keen on the player.

The defender is highly rated and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He could develop into a key player for Tottenham with the right guidance. He has been previously described as ‘incredible’ by the Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the deal across the line. They need to add more quality and depth to their defensive unit if they want to fight for major trophies.

Harwood-Bellis would be an asset for Spurs

Meanwhile, Harwood-Bellis is more than just a good defender. He is a threat from set pieces and his ability to build from the back would add a new dimension to the Tottenham defensive unit. The 23-year-old has all the tools to develop into a top class Premier League defender and Tottenham could help him fulfil his tremendous potential.

The opportunity to join the North London club could be quite exciting for the player and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can work out a deal.
