Tottenham must sack Igor Tudor now and appoint Harry Redknapp - The Spurs News
Description

It is now time for Tottenham Hotspur to break the emergency glass and appoint Harry Redknapp.

Igor Tudor’s interim stint in north London has churned out three defeats from three games.

Nine games remain for Tottenham to somehow salvage their Premier League status as they continue to free fall without a parachute.

With a brief break in Premier League action this weekend to allow for FA Cup games, the Lewis family must step in and relieve Tudor of his duties.

What are you doing with Igor Tudor if you are the Tottenham board after that Palace loss? 😫

These are unprecedented times for Tottenham in the Premier League era and Redknapp must be brought back to N17.

Tottenham have to part ways with Igor Tudor after Crystal Palace defeat

Gareth Bale has urged the Lewis family to break Tottenham’s wage structure, but the club require more urgent action to save them from relegation.

Would Harry Redknapp have enough in him to save Tottenham? 😬

He's done it before, could he do it again?

MORE SPURS STORIES

It should be panic stations in north London following the absolute drubbing against Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace.

The Lilywhites have undoubtedly done themselves no favours, with Micky van de Ven getting sent off.

However, the early warning signs were there for all to see as Spurs recorded just 11% possession at one point in the first half.

Only 19 days have passed since Tudor was appointed and it is already abundantly clear he is not the man to save this Spurs side bereft of any confidence.

Tottenham must look to Harry Redknapp to save them

The options are bleak, but Tottenham need someone to come in and get this side back to basics.

Redknapp has done that in the past after saving Juande Ramos’ Tottenham side back in 2008.

“Would I fancy it? Of course I would do it, without any shadow of a doubt,” Redknapp told Sky Sports last month.

“But I am a realist – I don’t live in cuckoo land. It is very doubtful if I would get the job. But could I do the job? Yeah, of course I could do the job.”

It is now nine years since the 79-year-old last sat in a dugout, where he managed Birmingham City for 13 games.

Any manager who may potentially take over from Tudor faces a difficult task, and there is no certainty Redknapp would even want the job at this stage.

Redknapp has already given Tudor some advice after he was appointed the manager last month, but the Croatian’s arrival has made no difference in the slightest.

Redknapp has previously saved Tottenham from relegation

When Redknapp took over the mess Ramos left behind in 2008, Tottenham were rock bottom of the Premier League at the back end of October.

This would pose a much more difficult task, but some may argue Redknapp would not have a lot to lose given the trajectory of this Spurs side.

Redknapp took three wins from his first four Premier League games back in 2008, which included that 4-4 draw at the Emirates.

There are some similarities with Redknapp having taken over Spurs on the back of their only other trophy this side of the millennium.

It is now March and Tottenham are still in search of their first Premier League victory of 2026.

The last throw of the dice is needed and Redknapp is the panic button Spurs will not have wanted to press.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans think Micky van de Ven has just tarnished his legacy after being shown a red card and conceding a penalty against Crystal Palace.

Spurs had taken the lead through Dominic Solanke; however, Van de Ven’s catastrophic error gave the visitors a clear passage back into the match.

Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?

Red card vs Crystal Palace…

The Eagles fully capitalised on their man advantage as Ismaila Sarr scored two goals and Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 3-1.

But following his red card, Spurs fans are now seething at the team’s acting captain for the evening for making such a costly error.

Tottenham fans think Micky van de Ven’s reputation is in tatters

Tottenham Hotspur fans now think Micky van de Ven’s reputation is in tatters following his red card against Crystal Palace.

In one of the North London club’s biggest matches in many years, Van de Ven did the unthinkable by getting sent off.

Spurs’ squad has already been decimated by injuries and Cristian Romero’s suspension, and now they have lost their other centre-back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Van de Ven could leave Tottenham in the summer, which has led fans to become even angrier about the predicament he has now left them in.

One fan said: “Thanks for the goal line clearance in Bilbao, Van de Ven, but it’s time to go.”

“Cheers for the moment in Bilbao, but you’ve just relegated us, Micky,” claimed another.

A third fan stated: “Van de Ven should never get that armband again, honestly. Such a foolish thing to do.”

If Tottenham are to sack Igor Tudor, who would YOU want to replace him?

They have been woeful under Tudor…

“Does Van De Ven need a lift to Liverpool in the morning? Happily drive him there myself,” stated an angry Spurs fan.

There was yet more criticism for the defender: “Can’t wait until Van de Ven is gone. Never wanna think about him ever again.”

Finally, another claimed: “Van de Ven can leave the first day of the window, regardless of what league we are in. The captain can’t even play well or look bothered for a single game.”

Tottenham will now be without the defender for a very tough game at Anfield against Liverpool, although Romero is back from a four-game ban.

Mark Clattenburg reacts as Micky van de Ven controversy footage emerges in Tottenham v Crystal Palace - The Spurs News
Description

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has reacted to Micky van de Ven’s red card as Tottenham played Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

Things began well for Spurs as they took a lead courtesy of Dominic Solanke after Palace had a goal disallowed for a marginal offside.

After going a man up, the hosts responded quickly and scored three goals in the first half to go into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Has Micky van de Ven just tarnished his Tottenham reputation?

Red card vs Crystal Palace…

Mark Clattenburg believes Micky van de Ven deserved the red card vs Crystal Palace

Clattenburg assessed the footage that led to van de Ven being sent off, and believes that the on-field referee made the right call.

The Dutch centre-back denied Ismaila Sarr a clear goal-scoring opportunity in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Palace forward was clean through on goal and the wrong side of van de Ven, who was running back to prevent him from having a shot at goal.

However, instead of making an attempt to win the ball, the Tottenham defender pulled the Senegal international’s shirt and brought him down to the ground.

Andy Madley, the referee, rightly pointed to the spot and gave the Netherlands international his marching orders.

Speaking exclusively to The Spurs News, Clattenburg said: “This is a straightforward decision for the referee.

“Micky van de Ven pulls the arm of Ismaila Sarr inside the penalty area while having a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

“Pulling the arm is not a deliberate play for the ball, so the laws of the game expect the player to be dismissed from the field of play for such action.”

Will Tottenham sack Igor Tudor after his performance?

While it is hard to blame Igor Tudor after his team went down to ten men, the buck does stop with the manager.

Newcastle showed fight under Eddie Howe and managed to beat an in-form Manchester United side with 10 men.

However, Spurs conceded three goals in ten minutes, showing that there is no structure in place.

If the board panics, given that Tottenham are only one point away from the relegation zone, they may give Tudor an ultimatum to turn things around.

That said, they are not likely to make a hasty sacking decision on the back of a loss with ten men.

John Terry shares the one incident that made him absolutely hate Tottenham as a football club - The Spurs News
Description

John Terry has never shirked away from the fact that he doesn’t like Tottenham Hotspur.

The man who won pretty much everything there is to win with Chelsea has a real hatred for Tottenham and is constantly trying to antagonise their supporters on social media.

Who would be your preferred starting striker at Tottenham? 🫣

We've fallen a long way since the days of Harry Kane…

Terry is still keen to stick the boot into Tottenham, even in the years after his playing days, much to bemusement of a number of spectators.

Now, in a revealing interview, Terry has shared exactly why he doesn’t like Tottenham.

John Terry details the incident that made him hate Tottenham

Terry has been speaking to Flashscore about his career and football in the modern era, with talk coming towards why he hates Tottenham so much.

It would seem as though it all stretches back to when he joined Chelsea as a teenager and was forced to act as a ball boy, with Terry hating Spurs ever since.

He said: “”I hate Spurs. It’s real, honestly, it’s really clear. When I first joined the club, I remember being a ball boy when I was 14 15, and I was by the Spurs fans, and they were abusing me.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I was a kid. They were abusing me, throwing stuff at me, and it was like wow I feel it. I really feel, and that just stayed with me and also really proud of the fact we, in our time, never lost a home game against Spurs, and that’s still to say now they hate me as much as I hate them. This is fine.”

John Terry’s record against Tottenham

Given Terry’s brilliant record against Tottenham, it’s perhaps no surprise he gets so much stick from the Spurs fan base.

As Terry explains, he never lost a single home game against Tottenham, and that is an astonishing record considering how long he played for.

Terry played 32 times against Tottenham during his time at Chelsea, leading the Blues to 17 wins and nine draws, with just six ending in defeat.

Furthermore, Terry scored three goals and claimed three assists during his playing days against Tottenham.

In terms of cards, he managed four yellows and two reds against Spurs and enjoyed a stunning time of things against the club he despises the most.

With Terry hating Spurs with all of his being, it will be no surprise that he’s keen for the club to drop into the Championship this season, and it’s up to the team to ensure that doesn’t become a reality.

Pedro Porro airs Tottenham’s main weakness that fans have voiced for months - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s main weakness has been highlighted by Pedro Porro and it is what fans have been saying for a long time.

Despite battling relegation, it was an underwhelmingly quiet winter transfer window for Tottenham, with only Conor Gallagher signed.

Pedro Porro has admitted his dream signing for Tottenham would be Barcelona midfielder Pedri.

Relegation could absolutely decimate this squad! 😫

Who do you think would be the first out of the door in the summer?

A midfielder to play between the lines and progress the ball forward is exactly what fans have been asking for since the summer, with the players seemingly sharing that view.

Pedro Porro shares Tottenham transfer demand as supporters

Frustratingly, Porro also admitted he dreams of a top club move at a time when Spurs are fighting for their Premier League survival.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Porro named Pedri as his ultimate signing for Tottenham.

What GRADE would you give Conor Gallagher’s signing at Spurs?

MORE SPURS STORIES

“If I could bring one player to Tottenham, it would be Pedri; I’d give the whole team for him,” said Porro.

Injuries aside, Tottenham’s current midfield options consist of:

However, questions lie over whether any of these players hold the ability to provide a pass that can cut through the lines.

Tottenham’s progressive passing issues

A big issue for Spurs this season has been a lack of creative passing coming from their midfielders.

The absence of James Maddison, and the struggles of Xavi Simons, has placed a big emphasis on the midfielders in north London to provide an ability to progress the ball forward.

This issue is highlighted through using Squawka’s player comparison matrix, with Tottenham’s lack of progressive passing there for all to see.

Although comparing Spurs’ midfielders to a player of Pedri’s calibre is massively unfair, his ability to play forwards highlights just how one-dimensional Tottenham’s midfield has become.

Long gone are the days of players like Luka Modric and even Christian Eriksen, where the lock can be unpicked with a swoop of the right foot.

Tottenham’s midfield has become stale and redundant of ideas in how to turn defence into attack, and it is costing them dearly.

Against Fulham at the weekend, Palhinha managed a mere 54% pass accuracy, with only three of his attempted 10 passes in the Fulham half successful.

Regardless of whether Spurs stay up or face relegation, a midfielder who can actually progress the ball will be needed over the summer.

Tottenham rival Manchester United for striker who has more shots at goal than Dominic Solanke

Tottenham rival Leeds for striker who has more shots at goal than Dominic Solanke - The Spurs News
Description

Dominic Solanke will be the main source of Tottenham goals between now and the end of the season, but reinforcements might be forthcoming next season.

First, Spurs must try to win a Premier League game for the first time in 2026 tonight against Crystal Palace, but it would appear plans are in place behind the scenes.

Who would be your preferred starting striker at Tottenham? 🫣

We've fallen a long way since the days of Harry Kane…

Tottenham’s recruitment in the summer left a lot to be desired, with the January window hardly proving any more fruitful for the North Londoners.

It would seem as though Spurs have every intention of surviving the drop and then entering the market in the summer with news of a striker link now emerging.

Tottenham want Jonathan David

According to Team Talk, David is on the shortlist of Tottenham, Leeds, Manchester United and Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.

David’s move to Juventus hasn’t quite gone according to plan, with just seven goals coming from his 37 appearances for the Old Lady.

The striker hasn’t always been considered a first-choice striker in Serie A, and it would appear that his next port of call could see him rock up in England.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham currently have Richarlison and Dominic Solanke within their ranks at the moment to play as the lead striker.

However, it would seem as though David is being targeted as a new option for next season should Tottenham ensure Premier League survival.

David shoots more than Dominic Solanke

Who Scored claims that this season alone, David shoots on goal more often than Solanke and that does bode well for Tottenham.

Getting shots away and being clinical have been issues for Tottenham this season, and signing a player who should help in that sense would be ideal.

At 26-years-old, David has a lot of experience in France and Italy, and perhaps crucially, he’d arrive with his best years about to commence.

Solanke hasn’t been able to stay fit for a prolonged period since he came to Tottenham and with that in mind, it’s no surprise to see a new striker targeted.

Pedro Porro shares his transfer ‘dream’ as Tottenham face relegation - The Spurs News
Description

Pedro Porro has admitted he has dreams of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world as Tottenham Hotspur battle relegation.

Igor Tudor is in desperate need of his Tottenham side to pull out their first three points in the Premier League since the turn of the year.

The gap to the bottom three was reduced to just one point on Wednesday night after West Ham United’s victory over Fulham.

Where does Pedro Porro ranks among these Premier League right-backs?

Porro has just returned from injury and has a big role to play in keeping Tottenham afloat, but he could not help commenting on his future amid the uncertainties in north London.

Pedro Porro dreams of big club transfer amid Tottenham struggles

Gareth Bale recently praised Porro for his display in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.

The Spaniard has been one of many Spurs players to underwhelm for large parts of the season, though.

Relegation could absolutely decimate this squad! 😫

Who do you think would be the first out of the door in the summer?

MORE SPURS STORIES

“When you’re little, you dream about a lot of things, but day to day I focus on my reality, and when you think about playing for the best teams in the world, you know you still have things to improve,” Porro told Cadena SER.

These comments come just hours before Tottenham kick off in the Premier League against Crystal Palace.

Porro returned to the starting XI to face Fulham at the weekend and will be expected to lead the charge against the threat of relegation in these final months of the term.

Real Madrid previously showed an interest in Porro, but the Spaniard’s performances this season are not that of what is required to play for a top side like Madrid.

Tottenham players could be in for summer transfer shock

If some of Tottenham’s players are expecting to depart for bigger and better things this summer, they could be in for a rude awakening.

Porro has returned just two assists in the Premier League for Tottenham this season and played his part in a side that has conceded 43 goals.

Thomas Frank actually dropped Porro against Wolves earlier in the season, which only highlights he is not quite as highly thought of as he may expect.

This will be the second season in which Porro is finishing at the bottom end of the table, and that is unlikely to go unnoticed by the top clubs he is alluding to.

Gareth Bale shares what the Lewis family must change for Tottenham to succeed - The Spurs News
Description

Gareth Bale has admitted the Lewis family are holding Tottenham Hotspur back by not competing financially.

The infrastructure at Tottenham has been there for years, with the stadium opening up back in 2019, but the club have regressed since.

People across the Premier League believe Tottenham must be sold in order to move forward away from the Lewis family.

Relegation could absolutely decimate this squad! 😫

Who do you think would be the first out of the door in the summer?

Despite having a significant PSR cushion, Spurs have been unwilling to break their strict wage structure over the years, which Bale thinks is costing them dearly.

Gareth Bale urges Tottenham to break wage structure

It has been suggested that Spurs are paying Conor Gallagher £200k-per-week as they finally look to end their wage structure.

There’s an argument that in itself is maddening, but Bale thinks Spurs won’t progress until they compete with other big clubs’ wage offers.

“I would say money. Maybe they don’t pay as much as United. If you look at the wage bill, it’s lower, and I think there’s a reason for that,” Bale said on the Stick to Football podcast.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Who is your dream appointment for the next permanent Spurs manager? 🫣

“You can attract good players, but I always say now: buying a £50 million player isn’t what it used to be. You have to be spending £80 million, £90 million, or £100 million now just to get a good player. So maybe it’s just the money and the wages; you’re not attracting that bigger player who can do a job here and now.

“Also, they always seem to buy young, hoping they’re going to grow into something bigger. That has worked in the past. For example, with me and a few other players, but they’re an established club now.

“They have the stadium, they have the training ground, and they have the fan base. They need to be buying bigger players and maybe paying a bit more.”

Talk of wages and transfers is now irrelevant until the summer as Spurs are fighting for their Premier League status.

The pressure grew on Tottenham on Wednesday night, with West Ham’s victory closing the gap to the drop zone to just a single point.

Years of poor management at board level is coming back to haunt the Lilywhites.

Tottenham’s wage bill set to be eased with summer departures

Amanda Stavely remains keen to purchase Tottenham from the Lewis family as part of a consortium bid, like she did with Newcastle United.

However, this could soon become a very different club, with the coming months potentially set to see many key players depart.

Relegation will naturally see a host of players depart, but even surviving may not be enough to keep some of the top players.

Micky van de Ven is believed to want out of Spurs after being left disappointed by the last two Premier League campaigns.

A huge summer lies ahead for Spurs, and it remains uncertain which way the remaining months of their season will go on the pitch.

Description

Richarlison could be in his final few months at Tottenham, as a summer exit cannot be ruled out.

The Brazil international has faced fitness issues since his big-money move from Everton back in 2022.

However, he has still shown up with crucial goals when the chips are down, and is a starter whenever he’s available.

Who would be your preferred starting striker at Tottenham? 🫣

We've fallen a long way since the days of Harry Kane…

Richarlison’s future will hinge on Tottenham’s Premier League status

According to Express journalist Ryan Taylor, the Brazilian’s future will depend on whether or not Tottenham can avoid relegation from the Premier League.

As things stand, they are just a point away from the relegation zone, with both West Ham and Nottingham Forest picking up points in mid-week.

Relegation would change things for Richarlison and if he decides to leave, he would not be short on potential destinations.

It’s understood that teams on three continents are willing to take a punt on the 28-year-old at the end of the season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Richarlison has another year left at Tottenham…

Would YOU sell cash in on him in the summer?

Richarlison has suitors in Saudi Arabia and Brazil, while MLS sides are also keen to secure his services.

Taylor told Wake Up Spurs: “I mean, obviously, it will depend on whether ultimately Spurs are a Premier League club.

“We know there’s kind of been interest from Brazil, MLS as well, Saudi Arabia.

“So I do think a decision needs to be made at the end of the season on Richarlison.

“I just don’t quite see him as that reliable striker that consistently produces, unfortunately, which is a shame because when he does play well, he had that purple patch under Ange.”

How much can Spurs get from Richarlison?

At the end of the season, Richarlison will have another year left on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If Tottenham are in the Premier League and he still wants to leave, they could command north of £25m, potentially even over £30m.

However, if there is a Saudi side that desperately wants the 28-year-old and he has agreed terms with them, the Lilywhites could go closer to £40m, as well as sides in the SPL can pay top dollar for players.

These undoubtedly are interesting times and it remains to be seen how things unfold.

Tim Sherwood thinks there are three players Tottenham should immediately recall from loan

Tim Sherwood thinks there are three players Tottenham should immediately recall from loan - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire straits right now, and Tim Sherwood is calling on three players out on loan to save their skin.

Spurs are yet to win in 2026 in the Premier League and there are just four points between the club and West Ham, who currently sit in the final relegation place.

🤔 Next summer, should Tottenham Hotspur KEEP or LOAN Mikey Moore?

Tottenham have been abysmal once again domestically this season and also crashed out of the FA Cup in the third round, with the Champions League and a survival bid the only things left for Spurs this season.

Sherwood knows all about managing Tottenham and now he’s suggested the three loan players who could save the team’s season if they were to be called back from their loan spells.

Tim Sherwood wants Mikey Moore back at Tottenham

Sherwood has been speaking to the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast and he believes Moore, on loan at Rangers, along with two other loanees, can save Tottenham.

He believes Moore, along with Ashley Phillips, currently at Blackburn and Luka Vuskovic, who is on loan with Hamburg, can save Tottenham in their fight to avoid relegation.

He said: “No one fancies him (Mikey Moore) at the moment. They probably say they would argue and say we will just send him out and gain experience. But I would argue well he’s better than probably what you’ve got.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So bring him back and play games because not only would he be better in my opinion than some of the players you’ve signed and are in your squad, you also had a shocking injury crisis.

“So, not only Mikey Moore, Vuskovic should have been brought back from Hamburg in my opinion, who’s played pretty much every game. He’s scored about five goals as well. He’s a big centre back. Phillips, the boy they signed from Blackburn, who’s on loan, and he plays every week at Stoke. He should have been brought back. Not brought back for no reason, but brought back to play”

Tottenham have to do better with younger stars

Tottenham have to stop letting quite so many young players out on loan, and the likes of Moore, Vuskovic and Phillips could have all been helping out this season.

In the case of Moore, Vuskovic and Phillips, all three are playing regularly, and perhaps the trio should have been kept in North London to aid Tottenham in the event of any injury issues.

All three would have got some minutes this season and given the current crisis, things could hardly have been any worse than they already have been.

Sherwood makes a lot of sense regarding these three players, although the chances of recalling them are very slim, and it looks as though Tudor will have to work with what he’s currently got instead.
