Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is under pressure after a disappointing result against West Ham United, and David Ornstein has now claimed that 'many' Spurs players are 'dissatisfied' with the manager at the moment.

It's been an incredibly poor season for Tottenham under Frank, who arrived from Brentford in the summer. Their recent result against West Ham was particularly disappointing, with the Hammers competing in the relegation zone in the Premier League. Spurs conceded late on to a Callum Wilson goal, with their home form this campaign even more unacceptable than it already was.

Speaking on his Instagram story, Ornstein has provided an update on Frank at Tottenham, suggesting that it's a matter of 'when, not if' in terms of the Danish manager departing. The respected reporter also adds that 'many' Spurs players are currently dissatisfied with how things are going under the current manager.

"It's a critical situation for Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur. As things stand, he remains in position, and Tottenham play in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. So, possibly he gets to take charge of that. There is still a lot of goodwill behind Thomas Frank internally at Tottenham, they want him to succeed, but I think there is a great deal of realism too. There's an acceptance that that might not happen, which makes me think it's a matter of when, not if, he will go. Of course, there's a chance of a dramatic upturn, but I think that's looking improbable, especially when the fans have turned against him and the hierarchy. Also, from what we hear, many players are understandably dissatisfied, feeling that, not that Thomas Frank is out of his depth, but perhaps he wasn't the right fit for this job."

It's never a good sign when the players are showing dissatisfaction towards the manager, and it usually means that the writing is on the wall. If the squad aren't going to buy into the manager's ideas, then it's going to be incredibly difficult for them to turn things around.

Time for Frank to Leave Tottenham

There are a host of reasons why Tottenham should be looking to move on from Frank, and the players being dissatisfied is the latest. Spurs currently sit in 14th position in the Premier League table, while their home form ranks them in 17th position.

Although it doesn't really matter where the results come from, producing just two wins from 11 Premier League games in front of your own fans simply isn't good enough. There are thousands of fans paying a lot of money to watch them every other week, and the performances from Frank's side at the moment are worthy of being sacked.

The report also includes a mention of Mauricio Pochettino, who is believed to be another option for Spurs, but any move would have to wait until after the World Cup, with their former manager currently in charge of the USA.

There's no doubt Tottenham need further reinforcements in the January market, on top of Conor Gallagher, especially after selling Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. The future of Frank being up in the air can't be helping them in pursuit of options, and Tottenham need to speak out about the manager's future at the club.

A potential target might be concerned by all the media speculation surrounding the future of Frank, not knowing whether he's going to be in charge for the remainder of the season if they sign on the dotted line. Spurs also face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, so a decision has to be made in the coming hours if they are going to relieve him of his duties.

"That's fair, no problem in that sense. As long as they are backing the players, doing everything they can, to support them and drive them forward, that's what we do, and we will keep going forward."

Frank has retained the backing of the Spurs hierarchy throughout a tumultuous season, but tensions are getting frayed and according to TalkSport there are talks behind the scenes now as to whether to stick with him or sack him.

Will Thomas Frank Be Sacked?

Frank's future is hanging in the balance, with a final decision to be made by CEO Vinai Venkatesham, who sent an open letter to the Tottenham supporters on Saturday morning - a message that did not mention Frank.

Tottenham take on Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, knowing a win would guarantee them a spot in at least the play-offs for the last 16. Whether Frank is still in the dugout remains to be seen, however.

There are plenty of names in the frame to replace him, should he be sacked and one manager who will forever be linked with a return to the club is Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian was arguably one of the most successful Spurs managers of the modern era - despite not winning a trophy - getting the team playing the Spurs way in an entertaining five-year spell in north London.

He will guide the USA at the World Cup in 2026 but will become a free agent thereafter, leading to plenty of speculation that he could make a heroic return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the 2026/27 season begins.

Mauricio Pochettino Dreaming Of Return

Pochettino is understood to be open to returning to Spurs this summer, and has spoken about having unfinished business at the club in a number of interviews before.

"In the bottom of my heart, I still feel the same, I would like one day to come back" he said. "Not because of my ego, it is because my feeling is I would like one day to win with Tottenham. We were so close, and it was so painful.

"Now Tottenham is a club with an expectation to win because if you see the facilities – training ground or stadium – now you can see it is about winning trophies.

"That's why I would like one day to come back with all the possibilities again to build something special. If that doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. But that is my feeling, and it didn't change. It is always going to be a special club for me."

Schade Could Be Ready to Explode

Spurs' attack is full of players who are currently seemingly on the verge of exploding into superstardom, and Schade would be another who fits that bill.

Players like Xavi Simons and Kudus have performed well at other clubs with smaller expectations, but their performances so far with Tottenham have been relatively underwhelming. A deal for Schade, especially at that price tag, would bring the same types of risks and not necessarily be an upgrade on what they already have.

Glasner spoke to the media after the game and criticised the Palace board, claiming he felt 'abandoned', and blasted their decision to sell Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi just one day before games at different points this season.

But with Frank's time at the club surely nearer to an end than ever before, it would make a lot of sense for Spurs to test the waters and look to bring Glasner in now for the second half of the campaign, to try and save their season.

Described as 'world-class', Glasner came in to Palace midways through their season in 2024 and saved them from a relegation battle before turning them into FA Cup winners the following season and playing European football.

A similar outcome for Spurs would be considered a miracle at this stage, and the board should be doing all they can to convince Glasner himself and Palace that a parting of ways before the summer is best for all involved.

Glasner Not Glamorous, But Effective

Some Spurs fans may have reservations about the style of football that Glasner could bring, considering his pragmatic approach at Palace, but he has previously shown at Frankfurt that he is adaptable and capable of playing free-flowing, attacking football too.

It's also fair to say that Tottenham aren't in a position where they can be overly picky right now. Results must be the priority, and Glasner wins more often than he doesn't. With a squad as talented as the one available at Tottenham, he could work wonders.

Tottenham and Santos have agreed a deal worth in the region of £13m for the 19-year-old, who looks set to be confirmed as the Premier League club's latest signing.

According to Teixeira, the money brought in from Spurs for Souza will be used to balance the books, settle debts and try and avoid any further sanctions from FIFA.

The most important of those is regarding Joao Basso, with Portuguese club Arouca filing a lawsuit with FIFA about a €2.6m missing payment.

He said, via ESPN Brazil:

The effort is always the same to balance the debts. We have already paid R$ 130 million in transfer bans in 2024, and others were avoided through agreements. Arouca didn't even agree to talk to Santos, who even sent a representative to Portugal," he reported.

Why Souza Deal has Taken Longer Than Gallagher

Tottenham actually agreed a deal to sign Souza before negotiations started with Atletico for Gallagher, so why has it taken longer to happen?

The first reason is that once an agreement has been reached between the two clubs, a medical then needs to be organised for a player who is travelling from Brazil.

As confirmed by Alasdair Gold on Friday, Souza has completed his medical but now various paperwork associated with signing a player from South America is taking time to get the green light.

“I think Spurs, in this window, are certainly going to look for opportunities with attacking wide players, and Savinho is unfortunate.

“Because I think there's probably a real possibility they would have gone big for him, especially after they missed out on Semenyo, who obviously went to Man City.

“But Savinho is now now injured, isn't he? So that's kind of another one off the list.”

Savinho, who was also forced to miss the start of the season through injury, has made just five Premier League starts for Man City in 2025/26, registering two assists.

The ‘incredible’ forward has scored only one league goal for Pep Guardiola’s side since his arrival from Girona in the summer of 2024, netting in their 2-0 win over Leicester in December 2024.

Semenyo, meanwhile, has made an early impression at his new club, netting for City in their back-to-back wins over Exeter City and Newcastle in cup competitions.

The Ghanaian forward has 12 goals and four assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season, and scored the winning goal in the 3-2 win over Tottenham last week, in his last game as a Bournemouth player.

Tottenham are planning to sign a new wide forward in January amid injuries to key players, with Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall and Richarlison all sidelined at the moment.

After registering 15 goal contributions in 32 league appearances and firing Monaco into Champions League qualification last season, Akliouche has endured a difficult 2025/26 campaign, both individually and at club level.

The £50m-rated forward has registered just three goals and two assists in 16 league appearances for the struggling Monegasque side, who sit ninth in the Ligue 1 standings after 17 games.

Following his impressive 2024/25 campaign, Akliouche was rewarded with a maiden call-up to the France national team and has made five appearances in World Cup qualifiers, scoring once.
