AI Has Named Tottenham Legend as the Most Underrated British Footballer of All Time - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham are one of the most successful clubs in English football. Do not let their recent silverware drought take away from the fact that they have won the sixth most trophies of all teams in the country's pyramid, which is a testament to their long-standing influence.

Spurs have had plenty to shout about in their decorated history, and that's thanks to an array of world-class talent that famously donned the Tottenham badge. Many of these stars earned recognition for their contributions, but for some in the more modern era, a lack of silverware often overshadowed their brilliance, and they were left criminally underappreciated as a result.

Now, ChatGPT has weighed in, and it has named one Tottenham legend as not just underrated by Spurs fans or the media, but as the most underrated British footballer of all time.

ChatGPT Names Glenn Hoddle as Most Underrated British Player in history

The former international had immense talent

Britain has been the origin for plenty of world-class players, and some were more underrated than others. Perhaps none were more underappreciated than Spurs icon Glenn Hoddle.

The Englishman lifted two FA Cups for the North London club, in addition to a UEFA Cup in 1984, but that was in no way representative of the talent he actually possessed.

Hoddle could be seen in a plethora of different attacking positions, but one thing remained constant - when the ball arrived at his feet, no opposition player could retrieve it unless he willed so. With such elegant technique and impeccable control of the ball, the Hayes-born man became a fan favourite for Tottenham in his 13-year tenure.

ChatGPT was full of praise when describing the quality Hoddle possessed, and here were its reasons.

Unusually Gifted Playmaker

ChatGPT said: "Incredible vision, passing range, and technique. Scored stunning goals from long range and set pieces.

Ahead of His Time

ChatGPT said: "Played with a fluid, continental style rarely seen in England at the time. Played with a grace and creativity more associated with Spanish or French football."

Impact Abroad

ChatGPT said: "Went to AS Monaco in 1987 and was pivotal under Wenger—an Englishman succeeding abroad well before it became common."

Why Hoddle was Underrated

The technician was beyond his time

In an era where British midfielders were expected to be industrious and direct, Hoddle was different. His game was built around dictating play and unleashing his creativity on the pitch - qualities more associated with those in continental Europe.

As such, his brilliance was somewhat misunderstood. ChatGPT affirmed this too, saying:

"The English game in the '70s and '80s prioritized grit, hustle, and strength over elegance and technique. Hoddle’s game was undervalued by managers, media, and even teammates who preferred more “traditional” British midfielders."

"He never fully fit into the England setup [as a result]. Managers like Bobby Robson didn’t build the team around him and often left him out. His elegance was seen as luxury, not necessity, in a national team that valued work rate and physicality."

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Glenn Hoddle managed 53 caps for the England national team in a nine-year span, scoring eight goals in the process.

ChatGPT also suggested that the media perception of the ex-Monaco star had an impact on how his career was perceived. It added: "Hoddle's quiet confidence was sometimes misinterpreted as arrogance. He was from a working-class background but had an air of sophistication in his play, which clashed with media expectations."

As the years passed by, the enthralling grasp of the football Hoddle displayed ultimately became more of a distant memory, with little tangible to show for it. It is often the older generation who remember his qualities as a player, while more recent recollections tend to rise from his time as a manager - specifically the manager of the England national team.

He held this role for three years between 1996 and 1999, but his stint was littered with controversy, and that unfortunately took away from his more pleasant playing career. ChatGPT further noted:

"His controversial managerial career, especially his England tenure and later comments, diluted the public memory of him as a player. Some younger fans know him more for TV punditry than his on-pitch brilliance."

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the Premier League queue to lure Vanderson to the Premier League after members of the Hotspur Way recruitment department have been eyeing the Monaco star despite ongoing uncertainty over Ange Postecoglou's future in the dugout, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although Spurs are preparing to face Manchester United in the Europa League final and strengthened their defensive options with the acquisition of Kevin Danso midway through the season, on an initial loan deal which includes a £20.9million obligation to become permanent, plans have been put in place to secure further reinforcements in the summer.

Postecoglou is likely to leave Tottenham regardless of whether he steers them towards silverware next week, having overseen an underwhelming domestic campaign, but the north Londoners are still pushing ahead with identifying targets before the transfer window reopens for business in the coming weeks.

Spurs Showing Serious Interest in Vanderson

North Londoners keeping tabs on right-back's situation

Tottenham are leading the race to bring Vanderson to the Premier League for the first time in his career, according to GMS sources, after they have been showing more interest than their domestic counterparts when ramping up their plans to upgrade the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Although Ligue 1 side Monaco are in a strong negotiating position, thanks to the right-back still having three years remaining on a contract which allows him to pocket close to £50,000-per-week, Spurs have earmarked him as a potential recruit who could provide the likes of Pedro Porro with stiff competition for a regular starting berth.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Vanderson's situation and, in a significant boost, it is increasingly likely that he will be given the opportunity to embark on a fresh challenge if a bid in the region of £30million is lodged during the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

The Brazil international, who has been described as 'phenomenal' thanks to his technique and pace, has caught Spurs' eye and they are keen to secure his services even though there remains uncertainty over whether Postecoglou will still be in the dugout by the time they can enter negotiations.

But Tottenham could still face an uphill battle to convince Vanderson to head to north London as GMS sources have learned that intermediaries have set their sights on discovering whether other top clubs are prepared to enter the mix for his signature before he makes a final decision on his future.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Vanderson won six ground duels and made four tackles during Monaco's draw with Le Havre last month

Rivals Threaten to Enter Battle for Vanderson

Manchester United among sides considering move for 23-year-old

GMS sources have been told that a number of Tottenham's Premier League rivals are threatening to register their interest in Vanderson, with Manchester United alerted to his situation as head coach Ruben Amorim weighs up whether to bring in a fresh right wing-back option ahead of his first full season in charge.

But Spurs are not on course to be challenged by Liverpool for the 23-year-old as the newly-crowned champions have chosen to chase Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong despite discussing the possibility of landing the former Gremio man from Monaco following Trent Alexander-Arnold's decision to leave as a free agent instead of penning a new contract.

Manchester City may be approached by Vanderson's representatives at a time when they have been looking at Newcastle United's Tino Livramento along with Juventus duo Andrea Cambiaso and Nicolo Savona, GMS sources understand, while La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have turned his head after entering the race.

Although that could complicate matters for Spurs, they are also looking to raid Monaco's Ligue 1 counterparts as GMS sources recently revealed that they have upped the ante in their pursuit of Rayan Cherki by making fresh contact to discuss a potential switch from Lyon to the capital.

Tottenham Hotspur have put Ajax boss Francisco Farioli at the top of their managerial shortlist as their 'ideal' candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou, according to reports - with talk over the Australian gaffer's future refusing to go away after continued shambolic results on domestic soil in recent months.

Spurs lost to Crystal Palace on Sunday in a comprehensive battering by the Eagles, falling 2-0 on home turf to go 17th in the Premier League - which would be on course to record their worst-ever finish in the competition's history. And with Postecoglou walking a tightrope for his job, that has seen club chiefs put Farioli at the top of their shortlist to replace him if he's given the boot.

Ange Postecoglou will be looking nervously over his shoulder

The report by Italian journalist Rudy Galetti via TEAMtalk states that Tottenham consider Farioli to be the 'ideal' candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou ahead of the summer transfer window - despite Ajax blowing a nine-point lead with just five games to go in the Eredivisie table.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that Tottenham are considering sacking Postecoglou once the season finishes, though club chairman Daniel Levy hasn't made his final decision yet.

Spurs will understandably wait until after the Europa League final against Manchester United next Wednesday, with limited disruption to their squad needed ahead of what is their biggest game in almost six years on the continental scene. However, the report further states that Levy has been working behind the scenes to find a suitable replacement for the beleaguered Australian gaffer, who sees only relegated trio Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton below him in the table.

Farioli has become a 'serious name' at Tottenham if they do decide to sack Postecoglou, and having been talked about in Premier League circles, they see his £4.2million release clause as affordable, also fitting into the long-term vision of the club, given that he's just 36 years of age and been labelled as 'one of the best young coaches in Europe'.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Francisco Farioli has seen his Ajax side score 100 goals in just 53 games since joining.

Fabio Paratici, who is returning to Tottenham as a sporting director once his ban is over, is the 'main supporter' of a potential move for Farioli, and it's his recommendation to Levy that has put the former Nice boss at the top of Tottenham's wishlist if they do sack the former Celtic gaffer in the coming week after his poor campaign in the Premier League this time around.

Tottenham Hotspur have upped the ante in their pursuit of beating Premier League rivals to the acquisition of Rayan Cherki by entering discussions over a deal to lure the Lyon star to Hotspur Way as preparations are made for the summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although Spurs have an obligation to buy Kevin Danso for £20.9million in the coming weeks and boss Ange Postecoglou is fully focused on the Europa League final against Manchester United, when the north Londoners will have an opportunity to end their lengthy wait for silverware, members of the recruitment department are pinpointing potential arrivals.

A final decision still needs to be made on whether to take advantage of a £45million option to buy Mathys Tel at the end of his loan switch from Bayern Munich, but Tottenham are still showing interest in Cherki as they go in search of bringing in further creativity and firepower in the final third of the pitch.

Spurs are Prime Contenders to Recruit Cherki

North Londoners up ante in pursuit of France under-21 international

Tottenham are leading contenders to sign Cherki when the transfer window reopens for business in the summer, according to GMS sources, after deciding to make fresh contact this month to gain more knowledge about what it would take to beat domestic rivals to his signature and get the deal over the line.

The winger is preparing to enter the final 12 months of a contract which allows him to pocket close to £65,000-per-week, resulting in Spurs sniffing an opportunity to pounce as there is an awareness that Lyon will not want to take the risk of him walking away as a free agent at the end of next season.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham are in danger of facing an uphill battle to persuade Cherki to join as, having registered 31 goal involvements in all competitions this term, he has pinpointed newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool as his preferred destination.

There have also been suggestions that the Merseyside heavyweights have enquired over the possibility of landing the France under-21 international, having seen him snub the chance to complete a switch to Paris Saint-Germain last year, which could complicate matters for Postecoglou if he remains in charge beyond the end of the campaign.

But GMS sources have learned that Tottenham are still in the hunt for Cherki and a move to north London is a serious possibility because his representatives have been leaving the door open for Premier League sides to register their interest after Liverpool have been looking to recruit Bayer Leverkusen talisman Florian Wirtz instead.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Rayan Cherki has found the back of the net eight times despite having an expected goals ratio of just 4.89 in Ligue 1 this season

Cherki May Still Need Convincing to Seal Deal

Winger not impressed with Premier League position this season

GMS sources have been told that Cherki has refused to rule out the possibility of embarking on a fresh challenge at Tottenham after they have decided to enter fresh terms, but he will need to be persuaded to sign on the dotted line as their position in the Premier League and uncertainty over who will be at the helm next season have left him unconvinced.

The 21-year-old, who has been described as a 'future Ballon d'Or winner', has decided that he wants to leave Lyon ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and his representatives have been particularly keen to explore the possibility of him moving to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

Although Tottenham are firmly in the mix to land Cherki, GMS sources understand that his agent is preparing to sound out Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Chelsea in the coming weeks in an attempt to discover their level of interest before he makes a final decision on his future.

Spurs are not only aiming to bolster their options on the flanks and, in a significant boost, GMS sources recently revealed that the capital club are in line to have an opportunity to land Dusan Vlahovic for a cut-price fee as low as £20million due to Juventus being eager to sanction the striker's departure.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are planning a bid for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer, according to Football Insider.

The north London club are currently preparing for the Europa League final where they will face off against Manchester United in a bid to end their 17-year trophy drought, while also looking to claim a place in next season's Champions League despite sitting in 17th place in the Premier League table.

The result of that game will undoubtedly affect the club's transfer plans for the upcoming summer window, but that hasn't stopped club chiefs planning ahead anyway and Eze has emerged as a top target.

Tottenham Preparing Bid for Eze

Playmaker has a £68m release clause

After helping the Eagles reach the FA Cup final and also scoring twice in Crystal Palace's 2-0 win over Spurs this past weekend, Eze is attracting big interest from some of the Premier League's top clubs.

A £68m release clause exists in his current contract at Selhurst Park, and according to Football Insider Tottenham are now looking to make a bid to make him cross London and switch blue and red for white. However, the club are currently planning to make an opening bid that is below that value.

While Eze is under contract until 2027, it has been reported that he has informed the club hierarchy at Palace that he is ready for a new challenge elsewhere and they won't stand in his way if they receive an acceptable offer, and GMS sources understand he is open to a move to Spurs.

Described as a "superstar" in the past, Eze is also said to be a target for Manchester United this summer - although the Red Devils are closing in on a deal for their preferred option Matheus Cunha.

It's expected to be a busy summer window at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro linked with exits, while Spurs are keen to strengthen their attack as Richarlison and Timo Werner are expected to leave too. Contact has been made for Lyon sensation Rayan Cherki, while it's also expected that manager Ange Postecoglou will move on regardless of the result in the final.

Tottenham Hotspur are on course to have an opportunity to recruit Dusan Vlahovic for a smaller fee than the release clause written into Ipswich Town star Liam Delap's contract as Juventus are desperate to offload the Hotspur Way target during the summer, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Dominic Solanke became the most expensive acquisition in Spurs' history when the north Londoners went in search of fresh firepower less than 12 months ago, thanks to completing a £65million switch from Premier League rivals Bournemouth, but boss Ange Postecoglou and influential figures behind the scenes are on the hunt for reinforcements.

Although Kevin Danso will become a permanent member of Tottenham's squad in the coming weeks, due to there being a £20.9million obligation to buy the central defender at the end of his initial loan move from Lens, there remains a desire to improve their options in other areas of the pitch.

Spurs Ready for Chance to Seal Vlahovic Deal

Serbia international eager to test himself in Premier League

Tottenham could sign Vlahovic for a cut-price fee this summer, according to GMS sources, with Juventus potentially prepared to accept an offer as low as £20million after he has struggled to rediscover his best form and given indications that he wants to embark on a fresh challenge in the Premier League.

The striker is edging towards entering the final 12 months of a contract which allows him to pocket close to £320,000-per-week at the Allianz Stadium, resulting in Spurs and other interested parties sniffing an opportunity to pounce when the transfer window reopens for business during the summer.

GMS sources have been informed that Juventus are hoping to secure up to £35million for Vlahovic, having seen him find the back of the net 14 times in all competitions this season, but there is an awareness that their determination to find a buyer may result in them accepting a proposal at a fraction of the price if Tottenham or another suitor comes calling.

The 25-year-old Serbia international has been described as 'world-class' by Bologna head coach Vincenzo Italiano, underlining his ability in the final third of the pitch, and Spurs are tempted to head to the negotiating table as they go in search of securing fresh competition for first-choice frontman Solanke heading into next term.

Tottenham have been made aware of Vlahovic's situation, GMS sources have learned, and they could choose to up the ante in their pursuit when he is touted around clubs during the final weeks of the campaign even though he has struggled to live up to the hype of being one of Europe's most sought-after marksmen when he joined Serie A giants Juventus.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Dusan Vlahovic registered seven shots and grabbed two assists during Juventus' win over Lecce last month

Postecoglou to Face Competition for Vlahovic

Decreasing demands likely to lead to battle for 25-year-old

GMS sources have been told that Juventus' decreasing demands for Vlahovic could result in Tottenham facing stiff competition for an agreement as Chelsea, Newcastle United and West Ham United are more likely to enter the race if Manchester United win the battle to land Delap in the coming weeks.

The Ipswich goal-getter has a £30million release clause that is due to become active thanks to his current employers' relegation to the Championship, but Juventus' decision to refuse to rule out doing business for less than that figure will catch the eye of clubs aiming to head into the 2025/26 campaign with additional ammunition.

Chelsea have been tracking Vlahovic for a prolonged period and West Ham are in the market for two new forwards, GMS sources understand, while Galatasaray are contemplating whether to sign him as a replacement for Victor Osimhen when he returns to parent club Napoli following a productive loan spell.

GMS sources recently revealed that Tottenham vice-captain Cristian Romero is in line to push for a move to Atletico Madrid regardless of whether he enjoys Europa League final glory next week, which will come as a blow for Postecoglou at a time when he is determined to upgrade his squad.

Tottenham Hotspur could look to oust their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi, according to reports - with Daniel Levy keen to add a steeliness to his defence that has been missing for almost the entirety of the domestic campaign.

Should Lucumi make his way to north London, he'd be moving having appeared in almost 100 Serie A games for Bologna, alongside appearing in seven Champions League games this season and scoring his first goal in the competition, coming against Lille back in late November - and that experience will be beneficial for Tottenham.

Report: Tottenham Have 'Active Interest' in Jhon Lucumi

The north London club have been particularly poor in defence this season

The report by TBR Football has stated that Tottenham have taken an 'active interest' in Bologna star Lucumi - with the Colombian stopper having been 'outstanding' for the Serie A club so far in his time in Emilia-Romagna.

Lucumi's performances have seen him become a target for major European clubs over the past two seasons, and he now looks set to make the move across the continent in the summer months after being called 'ridiculously impressive' last season.

The 25-year-old only has one year left on his current deal in Italy, and so a summer move looks to be on the cards, with Bologna not wanting to lose their centre-back star for nothing in 2026, especially if he has a strong World Cup with Colombia, which they will feature in should they pick up two more wins in the qualification process.

Having fielded interest from fellow Italian clubs Inter Milan and Juventus, it's now seen Premier League clubs take an interest in the 'phenomenon's services, with Tottenham among the English sides to have sent scouts to watch the Cali-born star. Intermediaries of the player are talking to a number of clubs ahead of a potential move, and have informed them of the player's situation.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jhon Lucumi has 28 caps for Colombia, but he's yet to score for the national team.

Tottenham star Cristian Romero has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, which would leave Ange Postecoglou with just Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso in their backline - which would not be a deep enough, or good enough, defence for Tottenham to move forward after their horror show of a campaign.

'Levy Didn't Want Me to Start Harry Kane – Spurs Were Ready to Sell him for £600k’ - GiveMeSport

Summary

Daniel Levy's reign as Tottenham chairman has seen its fair share of ups and downs.

Levy nearly made one of the biggest mistakes of his career involving Harry Kane.

The striker was almost sold before becoming a club legend.

Regardless of whether they are competing for a place in Europe's elite competition, or floundering in mid-table or even lower, one thing is certain when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur over the last quarter of a century: everything goes through Daniel Levy. The Spurs chairman has hardly made himself a popular figure since being introduced to the club in 2001, but it is because of him that some of the biggest landmarks in their history have taken place.

Without Levy, Spurs may not be home to one of the most brilliant stadiums in all of Europe. Managers like Harry Redknapp and Mauricio Pochettino may have never stepped through the doors in North London and helped progress the club to a genuine member of the Premier League's big six. For all the frustration that surrounds him, there's no doubt he has brought plenty of positives.

That is not to say that every decision he has wanted to make has been a success. But perhaps none have been as catastrophic as the one he almost made on Harry Kane. Kane is a bona fide Tottenham legend, having broken the club's all-time goalscoring record and emerged as one of the greatest number nines of his generation while representing the Lilywhites. However, things could have looked very different for both him and Spurs had Levy gotten his way.

Former Spurs Manager Reveals That Levy Wanted to Sell Kane

The striker's valuation was incredibly low at the time

Someone who has more experience than most in dealing with Levy is former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood. A former Premier League winner as a player at Blackburn, the ex-midfielder took over at White Hart Lane having been the club's assistant between 2008-2013. Among things that Sherwood was credited with was rediscovering Emmanuel Adebayor's former, as the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker had well and truly fallen down the pecking order at the club.

He was also one of the first people to give Harry Kane his break in the Spurs first team. Up until the 2013/14 season, the Englishman had failed to pull up any trees and had featured in some rather unremarkable loan spells for the likes of Norwich City and Leicester.

Safe to say, not many would've predicted what would become of the finisher, least of all Levy. Sherwood revealed in an interview with Simon Jordan that Spurs actually received an offer for Kane worth £600,000. Better yet, the chairman wanted to accept it.

"It's 100% true. I walk off the training pitch on a Friday and say to Harry 'you're going to play tomorrow.' And he looked at me as if to say 'about time.' As soon as I got into the training complex, Franco Baldini comes over to me and says to me 'the chairman wants to see you.'

"He escorts me to his office and he asks me 'what's the team tomorrow?' I knew what was coming. As soon as I mentioned Harry he says: 'Not Soldado? Not Ade?' I say, 'no no, Harry.' Then he proceeded to tell me that they're not sure he's Premier League standard."

Sherwood went on to say that it was Baldini's (former technical director) opinion that Kane was not good enough to lead the line for Spurs and that they were prepared to accept the bid from Leicester.

Sherwood would end up ignoring suggestions that the Englishman shouldn't play and the rest, as they say, is history.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Kane scored three goals and managed two assists in 13 games under Sherwood.

Kane Sold For £86.4 Million to Bayern

Spurs received 14,000% more than what they nearly sold Kane for

In the end, Levy will be counting his pennies and pounds in glee after not making what would’ve been a costly mistake by selling Kane at that period of time. After developing into a truly world-class striker, Kane would eventually leave the club in 2023 to join Bayern Munich as he searched for silverware that had slipped his grasp up until that point.

The fee was reported to be around £86.4 million for the striker's services, which was exactly a 14,000% increase from the £600,000 Spurs were initially willing to sell him for. It made Kane the second-highest sale in the club's history, while also making him one of the most expensive players ever in British football.

Description

Tottenham have made contact with Olympique Lyonnais about signing playmaker Rayan Cherki this summer, according to Le Parisien.

The Lilywhites have had their worst domestic campaign of this century and currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League with 20 defeats from their 36 games this season, but have also reached the Europa League final and have the opportunity to end their 17-year trophy drought while also claiming Champions League football for next season.

But work is already underway to bolster the squad for next season regardless of what competitions they are playing in, and the club have made their move to bring in the 21-year-old sensation.

Player has agreement to leave Lyon

With some question marks over the future of captain Heung-Min Son, as well as the futures of attackers Timo Werner, Richarlison and Mathys Tel being up in the air, it's clear that the attacking department is likely to be strengthened.

According to reports in France, the north London club are one of several who have made contact to bring in Cherki this summer after it emerged that there is an agreement for him to leave the Ligue 1 side on the cheap.

Cherki, who has been described as a "future Ballon d'Or winner" by The Athletic's Alex Barker, signed a new contract with Lyon last summer and has gone on to have the best season of his career with 12 goals and 19 assists in all competitions. However, part of the agreement for him to sign a new deal was that he would be allowed to leave on the cheap this summer, with a fee of just £19m mooted.

While Lyon are in dire need of extra finances to avoid a relegation to Ligue 2, they are unable to demand more money for their star man as it's stated that if they don't honour the agreement they would be subject to further financial penalties.

Tottenham could now look to take advantage of that by bringing him in, but they will have to hope to beat off competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and clubs in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to step up their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, journalist Sebastien Vidal has revealed.

The Lilywhites are reportedly ‘making moves’ for the England U21 international, who has no shortage of suitors across Europe amid his likely exit from the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham could face competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle, Brighton, Everton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, as well as Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen, for the talented 21-year-old.

McAtee is unlikely to have a long-term future at Man City after struggling for regular minutes under Pep Guardiola this season and has just over a year left on his contract, which runs until June 2026.

Tottenham to Step Up James McAtee Interest

Looking to advance past Premier League competition

According to Vidal, Man City are open to McAtee’s departure this summer, and their stance has put a host of Premier League sides on alert, including Spurs.

McAtee, praised as ‘special’, has made just nine starts for Man City across all competitions this season, with three of those coming in the Premier League.

He has been productive in under 1,000 minutes of game time, scoring seven goals in 27 total appearances.

McAtee was targeted by Leverkusen in January, but City rejected the reigning Bundesliga champions’ loan bid, which included an option to buy for £25m.

He spent last season on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 32 appearances.
