Description

Tottenham Hotspur are increasingly confident they may have a realistic chance of signing Manchester City forward Savinho this month, according to reports.

The struggling north London side are prepared to back Thomas Frank with new signings during the January transfer window and have identified Savinho as a priority target.

The Brazilian was eyed by Spurs before the season, but Man City were reluctant to sell and instead tied the 21-year-old to a new six-year contract in October.

However, Savinho’s limited involvement under Pep Guardiola this season could see Tottenham try to sign the forward again in January, potentially on an initial loan.

Tottenham Remain Keen on Savinho

According to CaughtOffside, Man City are expected to sell at least one attacker this month amid the impending arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

Savinho, as well as Norway international Oscar Bobb, are reportedly seen as the two main candidates to leave, as their places in Guardiola’s pecking order could drop even further after Semenyo’s arrival.

Savinho, who was forced to miss the start of the season through injury, has made just four Premier League starts for Man City in 2025/26, registering two assists.

The £100,000-a-week forward has scored only one league goal for Man City since his arrival from Girona in the summer of 2024, netting in their 2-0 win over Leicester in December 2024.

He was forced off in the second half of the 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Thursday and is set to miss Chelsea’s visit to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Savinho Could Replace Brennan Johnson

Tottenham are an attacker short following Brennan Johnson’s move to Crystal Palace. The Wales international left Spurs for £35m earlier this week in a club-record deal for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Johnson has made only six league starts for Spurs this season, scoring two goals in the first two games of the campaign, including a 2-0 win over Man City.

The wide forward is expected to be available for Palace’s visit to Newcastle United on Sunday, where Glasner’s side will be looking to bounce back after failing to win their last four games.

Thomas Frank Under Pressure

Thomas Frank is under pressure at Tottenham following a difficult first half of the Premier League season, with just seven wins from his first 19 games.

Tottenham Must Appoint Mauricio Pochettino to Replace Thomas Frank in 2026

ENIC's Top Target: Tottenham Must Hire 'World-Class' Manager to Replace Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is coming under increasing pressure from supporters following another disappointing performance against his former side, Brentford.

The 52-year-old joined Spurs from the Bees in the summer but many underwhelming displays have followed since, including the goalless draw in London on New Year's Day.

Frank was booed when he approached the away end at the Gtech Community Stadium following the final whistle, which showed the current mood among the match-going fanbase.

While the Dane deserves some more time to try and turn the tide at Tottenham and get his team producing performances which are better on the eye, there will be question marks from ENIC whether he is the right man for the job beyond this season, and for the long-term.

One manager who could be available next summer is Mauricio Pochettino, following the 2026 North American World Cup.

Tottenham Must Bring Pochettino Back in 2026

Tottenham sacked Mauricio Pochettino in 2019 following five years in charge of the club, with the obvious intention of trying to reach the next level as Jose Mourinho was appointed as the Argentine's successor.

Neither Mourinho nor the subsequent hires of Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou - taking away the Europa League success - have really worked out, and Frank is yet to really make his mark either.

One of the main criticisms of Frank is his football, which has been described as unwatchable as his team struggle to impact the final third.

The latest goalless draw means that Tottenham have scored just two goals in their previous four matches, and fans want to see better than that. Postecoglou was sacked in the summer having played more entertaining football, but ultimately finishing in 17th position in the Premier League.

Another mid-season managerial change wouldn't be ideal for ENIC, and they would be likely be unable to convince Pochettino to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now, given he will take charge of the World Cup hosts in six months' time.

But Spurs should be sounding the 'world-class' 53-year-old out about an extraordinary second spell in charge following the tournament, with reports that the club's owners see him as the number one target should Frank get the sack.

Pochettino Wants Premier League Return

While he is happy with the job he is currently in, Pochettino has told the BBC that he would 'love' to return to the Premier League in the future.

The appeal of the Argentine is that he is a manager who the fans loved, and his appointment would be extremely well received by the majority of fans.

It would be a chance for the Spurs hierarchy to unite everyone at the club and that is exactly what they need if they want to kick on again.

Of course, the old adage is that 'you should never go back to your old club', but Tottenham and Pochettino feels like a different situation to many others.

The manager led Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019 and no manager has come close to doing the same since, albeit Postecoglou's Europa League triumph will live long in the memories.

Pochettino Back to Spurs Written in the Stars

For many reasons, Pochettino coming back to Tottenham does feel written in the stars, and he would bring an attractive style of play for fans to enjoy once again.

Spurs don't feel like they're going anywhere under Frank at the moment and while he perhaps does deserve a full season to give him time to implement his ideas, the feeling right now is that it won't work long-term.

In that regard Tottenham don't have anything to lose with Pochettino, and he might be the best and most realistic fit for them in the summer of 2026.

Even when Pochettino left it felt as though he would be back managing them one day, and that moment might not be too far away. Watch this space.

Tottenham Want to Sign Brazil 'Gem' Souza From Santos

Tottenham Working to Sign Second Brazilian Star Alongside Savinho in January - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to sign Brazilian left-back Souza from Santos during the January transfer window after reports from his home nation, according to journalist Tom Barclay.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, Spurs could make a second move to try and bring Manchester City winger Savinho to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month to strengthen Thomas Frank's attacking options, having failed to agree a deal during the summer.

The City forward has been described as a 'dream' target to replace Brennan Johnson, who completed his switch to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on Friday.

But Savinho might not be the only Brazilian player who the north Londoners attempt to sign in the next few weeks, with interest in the 19-year-old Santos player confirmed.

Tottenham Keen to Sign Souza

Reports from Brazil in recent hours had alluded to Tottenham's interest in the teenage full-back, with suggestions they've even made an official bid for his services.

While Barclay hasn't confirmed if things have gone that far, the Sun journalist says Spurs do have an interest in bringing the 'gem' to the club in the next month.

Despite his tender years, Souza has already made 38 appearances for Santos - who Neymar also represents - scoring one goal and providing four assists.

Souza Has Been Heavily Praised

Interest from Tottenham and other clubs is no surprise given the rave reviews Souza has been getting in his homeland.

According to scout Antonio Mango, the defender has a 'sweet left foot' and has been described as enthusiastic, tenacious, aggressive and energetic.

Meanwhile, South American football journalist Nathan Joyes believes that the 'athletic' teenager's attacking numbers would drastically improve if he was part of a better squad.

Tottenham Need More Depth at Left-Back

Tottenham's current options at left-back are Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Djed Spence, although the latter's natural position is on the opposite flank.

With Davies' contract expiring at the end of June and with the Welshman looking set to depart, it is no surprise to see that the north London outfit may be looking to bring in a new player.

With a left-back and an attacker on the agenda, it could be a busy month of incomings for Tottenham as they look to push themselves up the Premier League table and boost their Champions League hopes in the second half of the season.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have checked on Levante striker Etta Eyong as they aim to bring in reinforcements in the final third this month, according to MailOnline.

Spurs are soon to be one attacker down, with Brennan Johnson edging closer to leaving the club already this window. GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that a deal for Johnson to move to Crystal Palace is now done, while his medical was scheduled for Thursday night.

The north London club will receive a fee in the region of £35m for Johnson, and they could allow them to strengthen their squad over the coming weeks. Johnson enjoyed an impressive season under Ange Postecoglou in terms of his final third production, but he's struggled to make too much of an impact this term under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Eyeing Forward Reinforcements in January

According to a report from MailOnline, Tottenham have checked on Levante striker Eyong as they search for new attacking additions ahead of the second half of the season. Spurs want to add better forward options during the January transfer window, and the sale of Johnson means a new attacking signing might be necessary.

Eyong has scored five goals and provided one assist for Levante in La Liga this season, while he also contributed with three goals and assists combined for Villarreal before leaving the club in the summer. He's already making a significant impact at senior level at the age of 22, and he's currently at the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon.

Eyong is a natural striker, so he wouldn't be a like-for-like replacement for Johnson, but he would certainly improve Tottenham's attacking options this month.

Tottenham Need Another Winger

Eyong, described as 'special', would be a strong addition to Frank's attacking options, but there's certainly an argument to suggest that they need a winger as more of a priority, particularly with Johnson heading through the exit door. Frank's current centre-forward options include Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani, and Dominic Solanke, so it's not a position they are in desperate need of strengthening.

There's no doubt Tottenham do need to do business after a disappointing start to the campaign, but the January window is notoriously difficult to do bring in players at the right value.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans booed manager Thomas Frank following their 0-0 draw with Brentford on New Year's Day.

The Lilywhites were looking for consecutive wins for the first time in the Premier League since the opening two games of the season, but failed to create any real clear-cut chances and were instead held to a goalless draw for the first time since May 2022 by Frank's former side.

The Danish manager has come under pressure for his style of play in recent months since taking over as manager from Ange Postecoglou in the summer, and the most recent performance seems to have rubbed fans up the wrong way once again.

Tottenham Fans Boo Thomas Frank

After the game, the Spurs squad went over to the away section of the crowd to applaud the fans, and were joined by Frank and his coaching staff.

Journalist Alasdair Gold revealed that he got booed by the fans as he did so, and now footage has emerged from within the crowd where those boos are very audible, as Frank claps and then quickly walks away before showing any kind of reaction.

Results this season have not been good enough for the north London side, and they currently sit 12th in the Premier League at the halfway stage of the season, with just seven wins and 27 goals scored in their 19 games.

That's despite Frank spending big in the summer to bring in the likes of Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus to bolster his attacking options, as he looked to build upon their Europa League triumph.

Frank Needs Goals to Turn Fans Around

There's an easy way for Frank to win the fans back and get them on side, and it starts with scoring more goals and actually playing to win games, rather than not lose them.

Too often this season the team has failed to be threatening, and it leads to fans questioning decisions from the management. Despite their troubles in front of goal, Frank continues to play three more defensive-minded midfielders on a regular basis, but he must abandon that principle and instead start looking to play on the front foot.

Should the team start to score more goals, by default they will then start to win more games, and that will then see fans become more accepting of the situation. Without that though, his days in charge are beginning to look numbered.

Tottenham Lining Up Savinho as 'Dream' Brennan Johnson Replacement

Tottenham Want £70m 'Dream' Johnson Replacement, He's Keen to Join - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have identified Savinho as their 'dream' Brennan Johnson replacement with the January transfer window now open, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.

Johnson is on the verge of sealing a £33.5m move to Crystal Palace after being told by Spurs manager Thomas Frank that he was no longer in his plans, with a medical taking place on Thursday night.

Now the north London club will work on bringing in a replacement before the February 2 deadline.

Tottenham had been in for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo - who is now expected to join Manchester City - before removing themselves from the race after the Ghana international told them he wasn't interested in joining.

Now, they could test City's resolve again by making a second move for Savinho this month.

Tottenham Need 'Serious Money' to Sign Savinho

Tottenham were prepared to pay more than £70m to bring the Brazil international in from the Etihad during last summer's transfer window, but the move was blocked by Man City CEO Ferran Soriano.

Spurs would need to offer a similar fee to £70m, which was deemed attractive by City before they decided the player wasn't for sale, again in mid-season to have any chance of entering negotiations to complete a transfer.

According to Jacobs, writing in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter, the north Londoners could test City's resolve again this month for a player who was keen on joining them just a few months ago.

Tottenham Need Savinho

Despite adding the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to their frontline during the summer, things haven't really clicked well for Tottenham in the final third.

At the halfway mark of the Premier League season, they have scored 27 goals in 19 matches and Frank was booed by some supporters following the dull 0-0 draw with his old club Brentford on New Year's Day.

Spurs need an injection of quality and pace to offer something different in their attack when Johnson leaves, and Savinho would provide the answer as he loves to constantly run against and harass defenders.

The 21-year-old is able to play either on the left or right wing and while he isn't the finished product yet, Pep Guardiola has tipped him to go on to become a 'top-class' player.

Crucial Week for Thomas Frank's Future

After another unwatchable display against Brentford, Frank now faces a defining week which could impact his future as Tottenham manager.

Currently lying in 12th position in the Premier League standings, Spurs host seventh-placed Sunderland at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, before travelling to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Those two league games are followed by a third round FA Cup tie at home to high-flying Aston Villa, as the north Londoners look to secure a win against Unai Emery's side in their bid to win a domestic trophy.

Tottenham Lead Race for Conor Gallagher, He Wants to Join in January

Tottenham Lead Race to Sign £200,000-a-Week Star in January, He Wants to Join - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United lead the January race to sign Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher, according to TEAMtalk.

Spurs and United are both looking to bolster their midfield this month and see the England international as a strong and attainable target.

Gallagher only joined Atletico Madrid in a £35m deal from Chelsea 18 months ago but his future with the LaLiga giants is in doubt with his minutes limited under Diego Simeone this term.

It means a return to the Premier League could be on the cards at the start of 2026 with no shortage of interest from top-flight clubs.

Conor Gallagher Wants Premier League Return

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham and Manchester United are in pole position to bring the 25-year-old back to English shores this month, and Atletico are willing to sell the Englishman for the right price.

Thomas Frank sees Gallagher as the ideal addition to his Spurs midfield, with the north Londoners being long-term admirers of the Epsom-born star, even when he was with rivals Chelsea.

Gallagher is said to be enthusiastic about a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, given his London roots and the fact he would be able to play Champions League football with them this term.

Spurs might not have everything their own way in their bid to land Gallagher though, with Ruben Amorim's Red Devils also frontrunners to land him before the February 2 deadline.

There are other Premier League suitors too in Newcastle United - who can offer top-level European football - as well as Everton and West Ham United, with the latter looking to shake up their squad to stave off relegation to the Championship.

Gallagher's priority is to play regularly to force his way back into Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the North American World Cup this summer, which could play a key part in any negotiations.

Gallagher is Ideal Mid-Season Tottenham Signing

The January transfer window is notoriously difficult to find the right players on the right deal, but Gallagher is a rare good opportunity for Spurs.

As mentioned, he's not a new target for the north London club as they have been tracking him for years, so it would be far from a mid-season panic buy.

Tottenham have felt for many years that the £200,000-a-week star can add something for them in the middle of the park, and now they may have the ideal opportunity to finally land him.

Spurs have sometimes struggled in that area of the pitch this season, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha's partnership there criticised at points during the current campaign.

The positive of bringing Gallagher in is that Spurs and Frank know that not only are they getting a proven Premier League player who offers high work rate, leadership and a goal threat from midfield, but he is also going to be highly motivated and ready to go that extra mile in every game to catch Tuchel's attention.

What Else is Happening at Tottenham in January?

The major story at the start of January has been around the future of Brennan Johnson, who looks to be on course to join Crystal Palace - it could even happen before the weekend.

Description

Tottenham are keen to reignite their interest in signing Maghnes Akliouche in January, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Spurs are desperate to strengthen their squad following a disappointing start to life under Thomas Frank in North London.

Despite finishing 17th last term, expectations were high for Tottenham after winning the Europa League last term. However, this season has been a struggle, with Frank's side sitting 13th in the Premier League.

A series of injuries to key offensive players including James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski have left them light in the final third and as a result, they're keen to add genuine quality in a bid to add some extra sparkle into a side who have struggled at times this term.

With the search underway for creativity, Tottenham are considering a move for a player whom they have admired for some time.

Tottenham Chase Maghnes Akilouche

Tottenham are interested in a move to sign Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco. The versatile attacking midfielder was a target for the club in the summer, signaling that he is hight up the club's wishlist.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has scored three goals and provided five assists for the French side in 22 appearances. Since progressing through the club's youth set up, he has 41 goal contributions in 118 games. He has also scored once in five senior appearances for France's national team.

The report also states that Spurs are interested in RB Leipzig’s teenage winger Yan Diomande, Kenan Yildiz of Juventus and Man City star Savinho.

Akilouche Could Be Brennan Johnson Upgrade

While Akilouche is just one of a number of targets being considered, Spurs are keen to strengthen this area after making a decision on Brennan Johnson's future. Totteham have accepted a £35million offer from Crystal Palace for the wide forward witth the decision now up to the player to decide where his future lies.

Described as having "a left foot made of gold", Akilouche would bring real quality to Tottenham's attacking line. His pace, trickery and flair make him a real handful and someone that would undoubtedly flourish under Thomas Frank.

Spurs have lacked that spark this season and if they can find it in January, it could do them the world of good. Securing European football is a must for Frank's side and if they can complete this deal, it could really aid their push.

Medical Booked: 'Rapid' Star Could Play for Crystal Palace v Newcastle as Deal Agreed - GiveMeSport
Description

Crystal Palace are hopeful that Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson could play for the club against Newcastle United this weekend, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Eagles agreed a fee worth £35m for the Wales international earlier this week but were waiting to find out if Johnson would be willing to make the move, with a number of other clubs showing an interest ahead of the January transfer window opening.

But the club has now booked a medical for the next 24 hours for Johnson, with a hope that the 24-year-old could make his debut as early as the Premier League game against the Magpies at St James' Park.

Medical Booked for Brennan Johnson

Johnson, who has been described as 'rapid', has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank at Spurs, despite scoring the winning goal in the Europa League final back in May to hand the club their first trophy in 17 years.

With Palace struggling with the fixture schedule recently, Oliver Glasner has made it clear to the club that he is keen to bring in reinforcements during the January window and GMS understands that Johnson was the club's top target.

A deal has been agreed between the clubs, and the player is expected to travel for a medical imminently ahead of potentially debuting on Sunday. The £35m deal will be a club-record signing, surpassing the £27m they spent on Christian Benteke in 2016. It also represents a good value deal, with Johnson having signed for Spurs for £47.5m in the summer of 2023 from Nottingham Forest.

Johnson could go straight into the lineup if a deal is completed in time, with Eddie Nketiah injured, while Ismaila Sarr is currently representing Senegal at AFCON.

Sunderland Made Late Hijack Attempt

GIVEMESPORT sources can reveal that Johnson has now given his green light to a move to Selhurst Park, and that's despite Sunderland making a late attempt to hijack the move with a bid.

The Black Cats have been excellent since their promotion to the top-flight and currently sit seventh in the table, but have lost a number of key players to AFCON this month. Regis Le Bris is keen to keep the momentum and wanted to bring the Welsh forward in, but he has opted for Palace instead.

Everton and Bournemouth, who are looking to replace Man City-bound Antoine Semenyo, were also both interested in the winger, but it's Crystal Palace who have won the race for his signature barring a late twist in the tale.

Semenyo Alternative: Tottenham Could Move to Sign 'Elite' Brazil Star in January - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur could be ready to revisit their interest in Manchester City star Savinho once Antoine Semenyo's move from Bournemouth is completed, according to the Daily Mail.

Thomas Frank's side were keen to sign the Brazil star in the summer as they looked to strengthen their attacking options, but Man City opted against selling him and even convinced him to sign a new long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2031.

But so far this season the 21-year-old has managed just four starts in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola's side, and after missing out on a deal for the Ghana forward Semenyo to City, Spurs could be ready to make another move for him.

Tottenham Eye Savinho Again

Savinho, who has been described as 'elite', has found himself behind Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku in the pecking order this season, but his quality is still undeniable and he has managed to register two assists from his seven starts in all competitions.

With the World Cup to come next summer, he is likely to want to play more regular football and with Semenyo opting for a move to the Etihad Stadium, he is likely to fall even further down the pecking order in the second half of the season.

Tottenham made a play for Semenyo themselves, but were politely declined, and it's reported that they could now look at a move for Savinho again should he be made available for a transfer. In the summer, it was reported that the club were willing to 'obliterate' their transfer record to sign him, and Savinho was open to making the move to north London too before it was blocked by City chiefs.

It's unclear if City would now be more open to allowing him to leave, although there is also interest in Oscar Bobb from Borussia Dortmund which could see the numbers of the squad reduced too, while Omar Marmoush is another option to potentially be sold.

Savinho Would Be Perfect for Tottenham

Any player that is described as extraordinary by Guardiola must have something about them, and the fact he isn't playing regularly at Man City shouldn't be used as a stick to beat him with.

But Savinho's electric style is something that would be perfect in the Spurs attack alongside Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus, and if a deal is there to be done, then the club should be doing everything they can to get it over the line.

Frank could use an injection of pace and quality into his forward line, and it would also show the club are backing him heading into the new year too, despite a tough run of results recently.
