Tottenham in Advanced Talks With 'Gamebreaker' Star to Replace Brennan Johnson - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with the representatives of RB Leipzig youngster Yan Diomande, and he could be tempted by a move to the Premier League in January.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Tuesday that Crystal Palace had agreed a £35m fee with Tottenham for the potential signing of Brennan Johnson. The Welsh international is yet to confirm whether he wants to join the Eagles, while Everton and Bournemouth are also keen.

If Johnson does complete a departure from Spurs, which is feeling likely at the moment, then they will be forced to find a replacement in the upcoming market. Whether Tottenham sign a ready-made star to make an immediate impact or an up-and-coming talent remains to be seen, and it appears the latter could be high on their shortlist.

Tottenham Eyeing Yan Diomande in January

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are in advanced discussions with the agent of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old is believed to be tempted by a move to the Premier League, and Spurs could look to sign him as a replacement for Johnson.

A host of other clubs are also interested in Diomande, described as a 'gamebreaker', including sides from the Premier League, but his entourage believed a move to Spurs could be ideal for regular game time. If Tottenham can manage to fend off the competition for his signature, it could be a smart addition for the north London outfit heading into the second half of the season.

Diomande Will Need Time at Tottenham

Signing players from around Europe is always a risk, as there is no guarantee they are able to adapt to Premier League football. We've seen with players at Spurs, such as Xavi Simons, that it's going to take time, with the Dutch international yet to show what he's truly capable of since his move to Tottenham.

Simons flourished in the Bundesliga, just like Diomande is doing now, but he's yet to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League. Diomande will need time to adapt and fully flourish, just like Simons, so asking him to arrive in England and make an immediate impact might be a tough ask, but there's no doubt he's a player with plenty of potential if given time to develop.

Where It All Went Wrong For Brennan Johnson at Tottenham

What Went Wrong For Brennan Johnson at Tottenham as Crystal Palace Agree £35m Transfer - GiveMeSport
Description

Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Brennan Johnson. That is the big breaking transfer news ahead of the January transfer window opening and we are likely to find out in the coming days what is going to happen with the Wales forward.

He is likely to have more than one decision to make. It is not going to be sign for Palace or stay with Spurs, because the likes of Bournemouth and Everton are also interested in his signature.

The likelihood is, however, that he will depart Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this January, bringing to an end a two-and-a-half-year association with the Lilywhites.

Why Brennan Johnson Was Signed in the First Place

Johnson signed from Nottingham Forest in a £47.5million deal in the summer of 2023.

He was an exciting forward player, aged just 22 at the time, signed to be the perfect forward for Ange Postecoglou's dynamic, forward-thinking attacking system.

He ended the 2023/24 season with 16 goal involvements in 35 Premier League matches - five goals and 11 assists - with all of those goal involvements actually coming in the last 29 games of the campaign.

Following a slow start, in which he missed three matches and failed to register a goal involvement in the other six of the first nine matches of the season, as he adapted to a new team and new style, Johnson recorded 16 goal involvements in 29 appearances.

He was the second highest assister in the Premier League that year.

He would follow that up by being Spurs' top scorer in all competitions in 2024/15, notching 18 goals this time, while still adding seven assists to his name too. That made it 25 goal involvements in 51 matches all told, with the biggest one being the UEFA Europa League final winner against Manchester United in Bilbao.

He will go down in history for scoring that goal, the strike that won Tottenham their first piece of silverware for 17 years and their first European trophy in 41 years.

Why is Brennan Johnson Not Playing Regularly for Tottenham?

Johnson has contributed to 41 goals in the last two seasons, making him one of Spurs most important forward players. So why is he now looking set to leave the club?

He has four goals to his name this season, although he has not scored in the Premier League since the second week of the season. In fairness to him, he has not played a great deal since then - just 443 minutes in the top flight.

The Welshman has been used sparingly by Thomas Frank, with the Dane preferring the likes of Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani, Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus in his frontline.

Johnson has struggled to adapt to Frank's style of play in N17, although that can be said for a number of players in what has been a disappointing campaign for the Lilywhites.

The now 24-year-old was bought for Postecoglou and he flourished in that system. The Welshman became known for arriving late at the back post to score from a ball across the box from the opposite wing, doing it so well.

He cannot do that under Frank, with the Dane's attacking plans less focused on getting to the byline and more aimed at the build-up.

Brennan Johnson is a face that, at this moment in time, just does not fit. The question will be whether Frank's face continues to fit in the dugout and whether Spurs are actually letting a player leave who could floruish once more under a different head coach.

Tottenham are set to take a £12.5million hit on a player just two-and-a-half years after signing him. A player who was an important part of a trophy-winning team, no less.

The Problem Thomas Frank and the Tottenham Hierarchy Have

If Frank is backed, remains in the job for the long term and gets the team playing better, more exciting football, Spurs fans will thank Johnson for his incredible contribution, wish him well and move on.

That may not be the case, however, and there could be even more head scratching going on at having let the previous season's top scorer leave so soon.

Johnson follows Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in being the club's last three top scorers to have departed. The January transfer window will be a big one for Frank and Spurs when it comes to incoming signings.

Tottenham Eyeing 'Incredible' £87m Star as Brennan Johnson Replacement in January - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after they agreed a deal with Crystal Palace to sell Brennan Johnson, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Tuesday morning that Crystal Palace have agreed a £35m deal to sign Johnson from Spurs. Everton and Bournemouth are also believed to be interested, and Johnson is yet to make a decision on whether he wants to make the move to Palace.

As a result, Spurs will have to find a replacement if a deal with Palace goes through, but with multiple Premier League clubs keen, it looks as though Johnson could be heading through the exit door.

Tottenham Eyeing Diomande After January Exit Agreed

According to BBC journalist Mokbel, Tottenham are now looking at replacements for Johnson after a £35m deal was agreed with Palace. RB Leipzig youngster Diomande, who has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga this season, is among the possible list of replacements for the north London club.

Diomande is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming wingers in world football at the moment. The 19-year-old has produced eight goals and assists combined in just 10 starts in the Bundesliga, and he's still far from reaching his full potential.

The youngster was with Leganes last season, making six starts in La Liga, before he joined the German outfit in January earlier this year.

Time for Johnson to Move on

Johnson has started just six Premier League games so far this season, and with Spurs investing significantly in their playing squad, he's struggling to become a regular. Tottenham are set to recoup a large portion of what they paid for him, and it allows them to invest in more high-potential talent, such as Diomande.

The additions of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus in the summer have seen Johnson demoted to being just a squad player, and there's no doubt he'll be keen on playing more regularly. Keeping Johnson as a squad player would be beneficial for Spurs, but it's difficult for them to turn down a bid of £35m.

Tottenham Make £86m Bid to Sign 'One of Europe's Most Prolific Strikers'

Tottenham Make £86m Bid to Sign 'One of Europe's Most Prolific Strikers' - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer worth £86m to sign FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, according to Fichajes.net.

The Lilywhites had a busy summer transfer window which saw them bring in the likes of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani from RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, but the team has struggled so far under Thomas Frank and sit 11th in the Premier League.

Now the club are looking at further reinforcements, with a new number nine seemingly a top priority, and Spain international Samu has now emerged as a top target for the side heading into the new year.

Tottenham 'Table £86m Offer' for Samu

Aghehowa, who has been described as 'one of the most prolific strikers in Europe', has reached great heights with the Portuguese giants since his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.

The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals already this season, adding on to his 25 goals last season, and he attracted major interest from some of Europe's top clubs during the summer, although Porto stood firm on their valuation, pointing all clubs to his €100m (£86m) release clause.

However, it has now emerged that Tottenham would be ready to pay that amount to bring him to north London in 2026 and a report even goes as far as to state that an offer has been tabled.

Porto have made it clear that unless the release clause is met, there is no chance they will sanction an exit for Aghehowa in the January transfer window, which means Spurs may have no choice but to do so if they want to bring him in for the second half of the campaign. However, a deal could potentially be agreed ahead of the summer, which would help Spurs to beat off the competition for his signature.

Tottenham Must Move Quickly for Samu

It's clear that a new striker is something that Spurs should be pushing hard for. Richarlison is the top scorer this season but there are doubts over his long-term future, while Kolo Muani's performances are unlikely to have convinced anyone to make the loan permanent, and Dominic Solanke's injury woes are surely a concern.

A lot of top clubs brought in a new striker last summer which could clear the path a bit for Tottenham to go for Samu, but they are highly unlikely to be able to get a clear run at him such is his quality, and pre-agreeing a deal in January could be their best bet.

An £86m offer is absolutely no joke and if they are ready to pay, then Porto will certainly be ready to do business, and it may just finally give them their Harry Kane replacement.

Tottenham Ready to Make 'Very Significant Offer' for Adam Wharton

Tottenham Ready to Make 'Very Significant Offer' to Sign 'Phenomenal' Star - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their interest in Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton in 2026 with a 'very significant offer', according to TEAMtalk.

Thomas Frank's side have struggled to find some momentum this season and currently sit 11th in the Premier League table following a 1-0 win over Palace at the weekend, and Spurs are still keen to strengthen their squad further despite a strong summer window.

Now the north London club are looking at pushing ahead with an ambitious move for the England international midfielder in 2026 in order to beat off stiff competition from rival clubs.

Tottenham Ready to Bid for Adam Wharton

Wharton, who has been described as 'phenomenal', is considered to be one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League, and a move away from Selhurst Park has become a hot topic in recent seasons.

After Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze were both sold for big fees in recent seasons, Wharton is expected to be the next big-money departure from the Eagles, and there is strong interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

But Tottenham are ready to enter the race too and are prepared to make a 'very significant offer' to convince both player and club to strike a deal with them instead.

Palace don't want to lose Wharton this summer, and he is currently under contract until 2029, which leaves them in a strong position for any negotiations. They are also expected to lose Marc Guehi on a free transfer, while manager Oliver Glasner is not expected to renew his contract before it expires in the summer, which means big change could be coming.

But Spurs are keen to bolster their squad further, and there is an acceptance that a big offer could see Palace become more open to a move.

Wharton Move Would Be a Statement of Intent

Tottenham were able to bring in Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani last summer ahead of stiff competition, and that should give the club some hope that they could do it again in a race for Wharton.

However, unless they really step up their performances on the pitch quickly, then it will be difficult to convince him that it's the right place for him to continue his development and then potentially even move on to even bigger things.

A very big offer could be the best way for them to blow other teams out of the water, and also potentially making the move in January rather than waiting until the summer could be key for them, but it won't be easy to do.

Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham: Premier League Player Ratings and Match Highlights - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Tottenham thought they had taken the lead after just 17 minutes, but their goal was ruled out due to Lucas Bergvall being in an offside position in the build-up. Despite having the goal chalked off, the visitors would've taken confidence from it due to how easily they carved open the Palace defence with Pedro Porro's cross and how Richarlison had so much space from close range.

Just minutes before half-time, Spurs had the ball in the back of the net yet again, but this time it stood. Like the first time they had the ball in the net, this was another very simple yet effective move. Porro once again whipped a phenomenal cross into the box, and after a few headers from Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison, the move was kept alive, and Archie Gray ended up guiding a very simple header past Dean Henderson to make it 1-0.

The first half came to a close with Spurs in a 1-0 lead.

In the 75th minute, Spurs thought they had doubled their lead to 2-0. Richarlison, who had the ball in the back of the net in the 17th minute, but had it disallowed due to being offside, had the same thing happen to him yet again. Mohammed Kudus put an outstanding ball into the box with the outside of his boot, and once again, the Brazilian was there to meet it, but after a VAR review, he was judged to be offside, and the match restarted at 1-0.

Richarlison's second disallowed goal was the last action of the match, and Spurs saw it out to take all three points in a 1-0 victory.

Match Highlights

Crystal Palace Player Ratings

GK: Dean Henderson - 5.5/10

Hardly had a thing to do during the match, both in terms of saves and with the ball at his feet. Henderson could've potentially commanded his box better for Gray's goal.

RWB: Nathaniel Clyne - 5/10

Really struggled defensively up against Spence. The experienced defender played with plenty of energy, but wasn't great either defensively or offensively.

CB: Jefferson Lerma - 7/10

Put in a really solid performance despite playing out of position. Lerma was good with the ball at his feet and defended aggressively, which made life for the Spurs forward line difficult.

CB: Maxence Lacroix - 6.5/10

Had several really good chances to score from close range, but didn't convert them. The Frenchman was good in possession of the ball and never really put a foot wrong defensively.

CB: Marc Guehi - 7.5/10

Good with the ball at his feet and never put a foot wrong defensively, but like one of his defensive partners, Lacroix, Guehi also had a really good opportunity to score, but failed to convert it.

LWB: Tyrick Mitchell - 7.5/10

Defensively, very good and managed to deal with Kudus very well. Mitchell was not only defensively solid, but he also managed to get up and down the left flank all throughout the match and cause problems for the Spurs defence offensively.

CM: Adam Wharton - 7/10

As always, Wharton was a calm and composed head in the middle of the park for Palace. The youngster tried to take plenty of risks to play a ball through the Spurs defence, but they stood firm.

CM: Will Hughes - 7/10

Decent in possession of the ball and battled really well in the midfield.

RW: Yeremi Pino - 5.5/10

Quite ineffective in the final third and was easily dealt with by Spurs' back line. Pino got on the ball plenty of times, but was sloppy with it.

ST: Jean-Philippe Mateta - 6/10

Had a very good first half, but was pretty much anonymous in the second half. Mateta's hold-up play in the opening 45 minutes was superb, but in the second half, the Spurs back line completely shut him down.

LW: Justin Devenny - 5.5/10

Played with plenty of energy, both offensively and defensively, but didn't create anything with the ball at his feet despite seeing quite a bit of it.

SUB: Edward Nketiah - 5.5/10

Came on and played with energy, but for the most part was quite ineffective.

SUB: Christantus Uche - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Romain Esse - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - 6.5/10

Had just two routine saves to make in the first half of the match. Outside of that, the Italian hardly had a thing to do, both in terms of saves and with the ball at his feet.

RB: Pedro Porro - 7/10

Unlucky not to have had an assist to his name after 17 minutes due to Richarlison being in an offside position. Porro was solid defensively and caused the Palace defence some problems with his crosses into the box.

CB: Kevin Danso - 7.5/10

Had quite a shaky first-half performance up against Mateta, but stayed resilient and kept the big forward out of the match in the second half. The Austrian made countless important defensive actions, such as blocks and clearances.

CB: Micky van de Ven - 7.5/10

Like his centre-back partner, Danso, van de Ven also dealt with Mateta well and produced plenty of important defensive actions.

LB: Djed Spence - 7.5/10

Brilliant both defensively and offensively. Spence looked to make things happen every time he got on the ball, which gave Spurs plenty of positivity going forward.

CM: Archie Gray - 8/10 (Man of the Match)

The match winner. Not only did the 19-year-old net the all-important goal, which secured Spurs all three points, but he also put in a solid midfield display, and his energy and defensive abilities were key.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - 7/10

A solid midfield performance. Bentancur didn't have much to do in possession, but he stayed organised and made Spurs hard to break down.

CM: Lucas Bergvall - 6/10

Substituted off after just over an hour played due to an injury. During his time on the pitch, Bergvall touched the ball just 24 times and never really got involved.

RW: Mohammed Kudus - 6/10

Was unfortunate not to have an assist to his name after putting a wonderful cross into Richarlison, but unfortunately, he was in an offside position. Kudus didn't have as much creative impact on the match as he typically does, and struggled to get the better of Mitchell.

ST: Richarlison - 8/10

A real nuisance for the Palace defence to deal with. The Brazilian provided the assist for Gray's goal and was a constant handful to deal with due to his pressing and movement.

LW: Randal Kolo Muani - 5/10

Quite ineffective on the left wing. Kolo Muani didn't really get involved in the match and never even had an attempt at goal.

SUB: Joao Palhinha - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Wilson Odobert - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Radu Dragusin - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

SUB: Brennan Johnson - N/A

Didn't do much after coming on.

Thomas Frank Must Now Make Ruthless Call on Spurs' Randal Kolo Muani

Angry Spurs Fans Have Lost All Faith in 'Awful' Footballer Who Was 'Shocking' vs Crystal Palace - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur alleviated some of the pressure on Thomas Frank with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace but the overall consensus is that he got one of his team decisions wrong.

Archie Gray scored the only goal of the game with a 42nd minute header to register his first senior goal and put the visitors ahead. It was a closely-fought affair from then on with both sides going close and Richarlison twice had goals ruled out for offside.

Frank ended the year on a high with his side getting their first win since beating Brentford on December 6th. But there are still question marks over some of the manager's calls, such as using a summer signing on the wing.

Crystal Palace 0-1 Spurs: Kolo Muani Experiment Isn't Working

Frank continues to put Randal Kolo-Muani on Tottenham's left wing and the French striker isn't performing well in the role. He was a sight for sore eyes at times at Selhurst Park, rarely beating his man and failing to complete any of his four dribble attempts.

Kolo Muani who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain after a successful loan at Juventus has played in a left-wing role earlier in his career. But the 27-year-old doesn't look comfortable out wide and he made little to no impact with 26 touches, less than Frank's goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Wilson Odobert came on for Kolo Muani in the 63rd minute and with a winger available it's odd to see Frank persist with the France international. Tonight's display should serve as a wake-up call for the Danish coach especially when last season's top scorer, Brennan Johnson is on the bench but seemingly up for sale.

Spurs turn their attention to Frank's former club Brentford next (January 1) where he'll make his first return to the Gtech Community Stadium since leaving the Bees for the Lilywhites. If he wants to keep the winning momentum going, it's clear from tonight's showing, that he needs to make the ruthless decision and axe Kolo Muani and place his faith in either Odobert (pictured above) or Johnson.

Kolo Muani Frustrates Spurs Fans

While Spurs fans were in a jubilant mood overall after watching their side get back to winning ways, they were still unimpressed with Kolo Muani's outing. Many were calling for the French forward to be brought off at half time, including one who wanted Mathys Tel to come on for the second half:

"My god Kolo Muani has been awful.Get Mathys Tel on in the 2nd half."

One fan gave a grim verdict of the striker who was handed a 5/10 rating by GIVEMESPORT:

"Kolo Muani is so so bad."

Another supporter called out the entire team but pointed out Kolo Muani's lack of composure on the ball:

"Like every game recently. We are not a football team and I cannot understand how the players cant do more.Kolo Muani is incapable of controlling a football. Gray doesn’t show for the ball enough. Constant bad decisions. But I guess we are winning so whatever."

One echoed this:

"Kolo Muani allergic to possession?"

Another fan highlighted the former Eintracht Frankfurt man playing out of position:

"Kolo Muani shocking. Take him off or change his position."

One added:

"Who signed off on the Kolo Muani signing?"

Kolo Muani joined Spurs on loan from PSG and a return to the Parc des Princes is desired by one fan come the end of the season:

"I’m okay with Kolo Muani never playing a minute for us again."

Another added:

"I've never seen Kolo Muani do a single noteworthy thing in his spurs career."

One fan was dissapointed with the Frenchman's performance:

"Palace just seem to want it more than us. Kolo Muani has been woeful aside from that run just now."

Odobert (above) came on and put in an impressive cameo appearance that should see him displace Kolo Muani on the left side of Frank's attack. His pace was a real issue for the Palace defence and a front-three of the Frenchman, Richarlison and Johnson could be the way to go for the North Londoners heading into the new year.

Tottenham Loanee Luka Vuskovic Wins Award After Incredible Sportsmanship

Tottenham Loanee Wins Award and Hailed as a Hero After 'Saving Opponent's Life' Mid-Match - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luka Vuskovic, who is just 18 years of age, has been hailed as a 'hero' for saving the life of Eintracht Frankfurt's Rasmus Kristensen during their meeting with Hamburger SV on December 20, with the teenage sensation earning an esteemed Bundesliga award in the process.

Signed from Hadjuk Split in 2023, Vuskovic spent another two years with his boyhood club before moving to north London. Over the summer, as a way of getting senior minutes under his belt, the impressive 18-year-old was sent out on loan to Hamburg, and he's impressed in Germany's top flight.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Luka Vuskovic set a 5-year record in Europe's top five leagues by winning 18 aerial duels in a single Bundesliga match for Hamburg against Union Berlin.

Since his temporary switch, the highly thought-of Vuskovic has played 13 back-to-back 90 minutes, establishing himself as a key member of Merlin Polzin's side. Although he'll be returning to Thomas Frank in 2026, he's becoming a favourite in Germany – and his latest life-saving actions have added to that.

Tottenham's Vuskovic Earns Bundesliga Award for 'Life-Saving' Actions

Following his summer move, Vuskovic found himself sat on the bench for his side's league opener, a 2-0 loss to St. Pauli, but he's not missed a Bundesliga minute since. He started alongside Daniel Elfadli in their 1-1 draw with Frankfurt and his actions around the 65th minute have been praised the most.

The aforementioned Kristensen challenged for a ball with Hamburg's Miro Muheim before hitting the turd and lying motionless – and Vuskovic was quick to rush to his aid, ensuring the ex-Leeds United defender didn't swallow his tongue.

The Dane was soon back on his feet and, following additional checks, he was allowed to continue before being substituted moments later. Vuskovic's actions were branded as heroic and “potentially life-saving” and his response is all the more heroic given he is just 18 years of age.

Speaking to talkSPORT, European football expert Andy Brassell said: "He was a hero at the weekend when they played Eintracht Frankfurt. Ramus Kristensen smashed into Muheim, one of Vuskovic's Hamburg teammates, and they both looked in a pretty bad way."

"Despite only being 18, Vuskovic ran across and made sure Kristensen wasn't swallowing his tongue. He was super quick-thinking and lauded for that. It's just in keeping with the way that he's been, not just really good for a team, their aim really is to avoid relegation.”

Vuskovic, born in 2007, won the Bundesliga’s Fair Play Moment of the Month as a result of his quick-thinking, which prevented the prone Kristensen's airways being obstructed. In the footage, it's clear the Spurs loanee is putting his arm into Kristensen's mouth to stop his counterpart from swallowing his own tongue. Vuskovic, on the incident, said:

"I've never done anything like that before, but I've seen other players help out on the field in this way. In that moment, I saw the player lying motionless on the ground. I didn't really think much about it – I just wanted to help right away."

Can Vuskovic Work His Way Into Spurs' Starting Line-Up?

Those of a Tottenham Hotspur persuasion will be pleased to see that Vuskovic's loan spell is not only allowing him to play more minutes – but he is performing well in said action... but can he become a key part of the first-team picture in the English capital? Easily.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are, understandably, the go-to partnership at the heart of the backline for new manager Frank, with the likes of Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso behind them in the pecking order.

In March 2025, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Spurs were happy with Vuskovic's development on loan at Belgian outfit KVC Westerlo – but they still decided to send him out again for the 2025/26 campaign. There is more of a chance, however, that he'll stay put next term, with him looking to work his way into the heart of Spurs' porous defence.

Tottenham 'Pushing' to Sign Manchester City Star Omar Marmoush

Tottenham 'Pushing' to Sign £370,000-a-Week Star in Ambitious January Move - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham are hoping to capitalise on Man City's move to sign Antoine Semenyo by plotting a deal for his teammate.

Spurs are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window with attacking reinforcements top of Thomas Frank's list of areas to develop.

Man City have been named as Semenyo's preferred destination as the £65million release clause in his contract looks to come into effect on January 1st, meaning that a deal could be completed before too long.

That could pave the way for Spurs to sign an attacker of their own in the shape of Man City forward Omar Marmoush.

Tottenham Eye Marmoush Deal

Tottenham are pushing to sign Omar Marmoush in the January window, according to Caught Offside.

The Egyptian forward is facing an uncertain future under Pep Guardiola with Semenyo likely to head for the Etihad Stadium next month. Should that deal occur, Marmoush could drop further down the pecking order.

Hailed as 'world-class', the 26-year-old is under contract with Manchester City until the end of the 2028/29 season, earning £370,000 a week.

Since joining Man City, Marmoush has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 40 games for the club. Joining from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, he registered an impressive 37 goals and 20 assists in just 67 appearances before joining Manchester City in January 2024.

Spurs Face Battle To Snap Up Marmoush

There's no doubt that Omar Marmoush would be a top-level signing for Tottenham. Spurs are missing the presence of an elite forward and the Egyptian star would undoubtedly offer some genuine quality to Thomas Frank's forward line.

Whether they can pull off a deal, however, is very much up in the air.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Marmoush and while starts have been minimal this season, he's still seen as a big part of Man City's plans.

If City do pull off a deal to sign Semenyo, it could change things. The Bournemouth star can play as an out-and-out striker, while also playing off the flanks, which makes him a truly versatile option for Guardiola.

Marmoush could be available as a result, but there's no doubt that a deal would cost Tottenham a large sum having only arrived 12 months ago for a fee worth £59million.

Paying anything near that sum would be a significant outlay for Spurs and as a result, it could be tough to tempt City to sell.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are among several Premier League clubs monitoring 'explosive' winger Yan Diomande, according to GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The young wide player has attracted increasing attention following his performances at club level and on the international stage, with scouts from England now keeping a close eye on his development.

Premier League clubs monitoring Yan Diomande

Speaking about Diomande, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the winger is being followed by a number of Premier League sides.

“I’m told there are several Premier League clubs following this boy,” Romano said. “He’s playing for Red Bull Leipzig, doing very well, also for Ivory Coast at the AFCON.”

Diomande currently plays for RB Leipzig and has also been representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, where his performances have further raised his profile among scouts.

Romano highlighted the winger’s key attributes, pointing to his pace and dribbling ability as standout qualities.

“He’s a very talented winger with dribbling, with pace,” Romano added. “He’s a very good player, very good talent, very interesting, with big potential.”

Romano went on to explain that interest in Diomande is widespread and not limited to just one or two clubs. However, he confirmed that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both taken concrete steps to scout the player in person.

“For young man Diomande, what I can tell you is that among many clubs, it’s not only about these two,” Romano said. “But among many clubs, recently Manchester United and Tottenham were on a mission to scout this boy.”

The update confirms that both clubs have watched Diomande - valued at more than £87m according to Florian Plettenberg - as part of their wider scouting activity, placing him firmly on their radar.

‘A talent to watch for the future’

Romano stressed that Diomande is viewed as a player for the future rather than someone being discussed in immediate transfer terms.

“He’s considered a talent to watch for the future,” Romano said.

While Romano did not suggest that talks, negotiations or bids are underway, his comments underline the growing level of attention around the Leipzig winger. The situation, as described, remains focused on scouting and monitoring rather than movement.

With several Premier League clubs following his progress and confirmed scouting interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, Diomande’s performances for both club and country have ensured he remains one of the young players being closely watched. For now, his development continues to be tracked, with his potential clearly recognised at the highest level.
