“Doesn’t touch him” Photo evidence after Tottenham vs Leeds United game speaks volumes - The Boy Hotspur
Description

It’s very much a case of never a dull moment for Spurs fans. A good few have now been blatantly called out after last night’s game against Leeds United. During the 1-1 draw against Spurs, Mathys Tel caught Ethan Ampadu with a boot to the head while attempting an overhead kick or clearance in the penalty area.

The referee initially waved it away, but VAR reviewed it and awarded Leeds the penalty (which Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted).

Post-match, Ampadu appeared in a TV interview (Sky Sports) with a clear, brutal red mark/wound on the side of his forehead — strong visual proof of contact. Leeds even posted a close-up photo on social media with a sarcastic jab at Spurs fans who claimed there was “no touch” or that he was exaggerating.

The decision was technically correct under the rules — a high, reckless boot making contact with an opponent’s head is a foul, even if accidental and even if Tel got some of the ball. Ampadu’s visible head wound provided clear evidence of significant contact.

Many Spurs fans felt it was harsh/soft, or even accidental. Tel was trying to clear the ball, and questioned if there was enough force or if Ampadu exaggerated. In fact, it was a clear foul, dangerous play, and the referee should have spotted it live. VAR got it right. Leeds posted the close-up of Ampadu’s wound to silence doubters.

He was named Player of the Match, handled the incident well, staying down until VAR did its job.

“99.9 per cent certainty” Possibly the best news Spurs fans will have heard this season? - The Boy Hotspur
Description

According to Yahoo!, many are reporting some exciting news. Luka Vušković, the 19-year-old Croatian centre-back on loan at Hamburger SV from Tottenham Hotspur, said,

“To a 99.9 per cent certainty, it was my farewell party. It’s a special moment. I’m very happy that I could help this team. And I’m very happy that I was allowed to be part of this club,”

….after scoring in HSV’s 3-2 win over SC Freiburg.

It was almost certainly his final home game at the Volksparkstadion this season. He described the emotional occasion, complete with standing ovations from fans, as his “farewell party” to a 99.9% certainty. He also noted that his family, including his brother Mario (who is currently serving a doping ban), was there to watch.

It was Yahoo! who reported previously that Luka Vušković was expected to return to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2026 after his loan at Hamburger SV ends. Vušković himself has repeatedly confirmed this: “After this season, I’ll be a Tottenham player again. I have a contract there until 2030.”

He joined Spurs from Hajduk Split in 2025 on a contract running until June 2030. He was loaned to Hamburg for the 2025/26 season for regular first-team minutes in the Bundesliga, where he’s excelled, scoring goals from centre-back, earning team-of-the-season recognition, and impressing despite a late knee issue.

Hamburg would love to keep him (on loan or otherwise), but they acknowledge they’re “in the passenger seat” — Spurs hold the cards and intend to bring him back for pre-season.

It is a fluid enough situation, and while top clubs are circling and a future sale or another loan isn’t impossible, especially if he pushes for it or Spurs struggle, current indications are strong that he will return to North London.

Exactly what must Spurs need to do now, in order to stay up? - The Boy Hotspur
Description

As things stand this morning, Burnley and Wolves are already relegated. The battle is mainly with West Ham. Nottingham Forest and others above are safer. Spurs’ relegation probability has dropped to around 20% after recent improvements. Which is a blessing after that percentage has recently been twice that.

Remaining Fixtures

May 11: vs Leeds United (H)

May 19: at Chelsea (A)

May 24: vs Everton (H)

A win today vs Leeds would be massive, it could take us to 40 points and create breathing room. Even a draw helps.

Results against Chelsea (tough) and Everton (winnable at home) will decide it. One win and a couple of draws (or better) should suffice given West Ham’s tougher run and worse GD. Back-to-back wins over Wolves (1-0) and Aston Villa (2-1), plus West Ham’s loss to Brentford, lifted Spurs out of the bottom three.

Roberto De Zerbi’s impact has helped stabilise things, which has soothed some fans’

Key factors include home form. Strong results at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium vs Leeds and Everton are essential. Goal difference is another massive issue. Spurs are on -9; West Ham is much worse (-19). This is a big tiebreaker if points are level.

Spurs have 100% benefited from the dropped points by West Ham. However, this is all about us getting our own house in order. Cut out defensive lapses, stay clinical up front, and maintain intensity under pressure.

Spurs are in a strong position to stay up compared to a few weeks ago, but they can’t afford slip-ups — especially at home. Win (or at least not lose) vs Leeds today, and they’ll be heavy favourites to survive. A couple more positive results should seal Premier League status for 2026/27. The financial and sporting hit of relegation would be severe, so expect full commitment.

West Ham are in serious danger, but not mathematically relegated yet. They must get results in their final two matches while hoping Tottenham slips up. It could go to the last day, on May 24. The massive issue for the Hammers is goal difference. They have conceded far too many goals, and that could well be what ultimately seals their fate.

Paul Barber lavishes praise on De Zerbi

“I think the fans will really respond” high praise indeed from a life long Tottenham fan - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Tottenham appointed De Zerbi as head coach on 31 March 2026 on a long-term (five-year) contract. He replaced Igor Tudor – who had only been in the role briefly – as Spurs’ third manager of the 2025/26 season.

Spurs were struggling near the relegation zone at the time, so the appointment came with high expectations for both short-term survival and a return to an attacking, high-pressing style.

“Roberto and I talked about Tottenham when we worked together at Brighton, because it was one of the clubs he looked to when he was growing up, for the flair, “the game is about the glory”, the Bill Nicholson way. He was very aware, going into Tottenham, not only the size of the club and the expectations, not just on staying up this season, but the way they play, and what the fans expect there. I think he’s a good fit there, he is a fantastic coach, a really good person, an intense character. I think the fans will really respond to his way of coaching the team from the technical area.”

This quote is from Paul Barber (speaking on The Sports Agents), Brighton’s CEO (and a lifelong Tottenham supporter). He worked with Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton (where Barber was instrumental in appointing him after Graham Potter left) and gave these comments praising the Italian as a strong fit for Spurs.

Barber’s comments highlight De Zerbi’s long-standing admiration for Tottenham’s tradition of flair and “the glory” (echoing Bill Nicholson’s famous philosophy). His awareness of the club’s size, fan expectations, and playing identity. This is a personal endorsement of De Zerbi as a high-intensity, technically focused coach who should connect well with the Spurs faithful.

De Zerbi is known for his proactive, possession-based style with high pressing and attacking flair — which aligns with what many Tottenham fans have historically wanted, even if results have been mixed in his previous roles (Brighton, Marseille, etc.).

Early days under him at Spurs will see him focus on climbing the table while building longer-term momentum.

Vicario to Inter?

Report confirms no verbal agreement at all and this Tottenham deal could still stall - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Tottenham’s brush with relegation is all too much in the public eye. For example, over the last few days, there’s actually been a bust-up between fans over who they want to win over West Ham and Arsenal as rivalries bristle against which side is wished the most amount of ill will. It feels inevitable that stay up or drop-down, that we will be looking at a lot of transfer activity this summer. Players such as Van de Ven and Cristian Romero are not seen as long term stayers, plus the club will need to free up cash given the financial chaos that follows the club off the green stuff.

One name repeatedly linked with a move is that of Guglielmo Vicario. It was widely reported that the Italian had agreed a move back to Italy; however, Matteo Moretto is saying that his Inter connections feel that there is no deal in place at all.

Furthermore, Inter are looking to Josep Martínez or even Filip Stankovic instead.

The background to this story is pretty straightforward. Inter saw Vicario as a long-term option to replace the aging Sommer, and the Spurs man was expected to leave Tottenham this summer regardless of whether Spurs stay up or go down, per multiple reports. Juventus were also said to be interested earlier, but that Vicario prefered Inter.

Now it emerges Inter might stick with current No. 2 Josep Martinez as the starter next season, given Yann Sommer’s contract expiring, to free up budget for other positions. Inter are also said to be “cheering” for Tottenham’s relegation, which could lower the fee.

This season has been challenging for Vicario and Spurs, with a high goals-conceded tally reflecting defensive issues, though he remains a regular starter. Vicario is known for his shot-stopping (especially close-range reaction saves), distribution from the back, and bravery in build-up play. His save percentage this season is on the lower side amid Tottenham’s defensive struggles, but he has been a reliable No. 1. He has also earned Italy caps during his Spurs tenure.

I guess we will have to wait.

“First priority get the chuckle brothers out” prominent Spurs insider pulls no punches - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Paul O’Keefe @pokeefe1 is a prominent Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) insider and transfer news aggregator on X/Twitter, with over 170,000 followers, so if you’re a Tottenham fan looking for transfer gossip or inside scoops, Paul is one of the go-to accounts in that niche.

The chaos surrounding Spurs has been deafening at times, with not just fans, but betting companies and pizza firms cracking jokes at our expense.

The lack of a long-term footballing vision and strategy has been a key factor in the failure. Successive managers bring their own ideas, but none stick due to frequent sackings and inconsistent support. Critics note no clear methodology like rivals (e.g., Arsenal or Liverpool). Daniel Levy (long-time chairman, stepped down in September 2025 after ~25 years) was praised for financial stability and the new stadium but criticised for prioritising business and property over sustained on-pitch success.

If we stay in the division they really need to treat this as the severest warning shot ever and be serious this summer. Under this coach they have a chance. First priority get the chuckle brothers out.

— Paul O Keefe (@pokeefe1) May 3, 2026

Most fans were excited by the stadium, but then realised that it was much better than the football which was being served up. Paul’s sentiment sums up how many will feel, particularly in respect of the board, as Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham have infuriated supporters.

Post-Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs tried various profiles, including Mourinho, Conte, Nuno, Postecoglou, Thomas Frank, Roberto De Zerbi, Igor Tudor, with little lasting success. More managers sacked than home wins in parts of the period underlined the failure. Postecoglou delivered the Europa League but was axed after a dismal league finish. Subsequent hires like Frank failed quickly; Tudor’s short stint also disappointed.

Our view is that the Chuckles need to be sacked, and that the Lewis Family needs to tell us what their actual plans are.

Spurs have monitored De Cat for months

Bids for Tottenham target expected to be around €35M upwards - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Nathan De Cat is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about young talents ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window. The 17-year-old Belgian midfielder has impressed with Anderlecht and is now firmly on the radar of Europe’s elite clubs. Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham have all monitored him closely this season, while Manchester City and Chelsea are reported to have conducted detailed background checks. Interest is not limited to England, as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig are also said to be following his progress.

De Cat has already made his debut for the Belgian national team, earning one cap, which highlights his potential at the international level. He is under contract with Anderlecht until June 2027, and his current market value is estimated at €25 million.

However, the club’s asking price has risen, with reports in March and April 2026 suggesting a valuation between €35 to 40 million. Earlier in February, Brighton had a bid exceeding €20 million rejected, underlining Anderlecht’s determination to secure a higher fee.

In England, Arsenal and Liverpool view him as part of their long-term squad planning, while City and Chelsea have intensified scouting efforts in recent weeks. Tottenham’s name has also been frequently mentioned in connection with the player. In Germany, Bayern Munich’s interest is considered particularly strong, with Vincent Kompany’s presence at the club seen as a potential influence. Dortmund and Leipzig, known for investing in young prospects, are also keeping a close watch. Meanwhile, in Spain, Atlético Madrid are reportedly attracted by De Cat’s physical strength and tactical discipline, while Real Madrid are said to be more cautious in their approach.

Financially, Anderlecht’s stance is clear: negotiations will likely begin at the €35–40 million range. With De Cat turning 18 this summer, he will be eligible for a move across Europe, opening a significant window of opportunity for both the player and interested clubs.

Our view

Tottenham, via sporting director Johan Lange and scouts, have monitored him for months and view him as an “ideal deep-lying playmaker” to bolster their midfield long-term alongside talents like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.

Reports from late March to late April 2026 indicated Spurs were ready to bid around £30m.

Interest aligns with Spurs’ strategy of signing high-upside young midfielders. However, competition is fierce. Recent reports note that Tottenham’s pursuit has gotten harder due to growing interest from bigger-spending clubs: Premier League: Manchester City and Chelsea stepping up; also past links to Man United, Brighton, and Aston Villa.

Tottenham have ‘expressed formal interest’ to beat Chelsea to South American jewel - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign River Plate attacker Ian Subiabre.

The 19-year-old striker is a target for Chelsea, and Tottenham have already ‘expressed formal interest’ in signing him. He could cost around $15 million in the summer, according to Soy del Millo, and Tottenham have the financial muscle to get the deal done.

Ian Subiabre is a special talent

Subiabre is highly rated across South America and in Europe. He is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a world-class player with the right guidance. Multiple clubs are keen on him, and Tottenham needs to act quickly in order to get the deal done.

They could use more quality in the attacking unit, and the 19-year-old would be a long-term investment for them. He could develop into a key player with the right guidance. The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be exciting for him. Dominic Solanke has not been able to find the back of the net regularly, and Tottenham need more competition for places.

Subiabre could improve Spurs

Subiabre can operate as a striker or a winger. His versatility would be an added bonus. He will add peace, flair, and goals to the Tottenham attack. He has the technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League, and the North London club could groom him into a future star. The $15 million investment could look like a massive bargain in future.

Chelsea are looking to secure his signature as well. They have the financial muscle to pay the asking price, and they are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the player to turn down a move to their London rivals.

Tottenham have ‘expressed interest’ in signing £43m-rated ‘very good’ wide man - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign the Juventus left back Andrea Cambiaso at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has been excellent for the Italian club and has been hailed as a “very good” player. He is at the peak of his career, and he could make an immediate impact in the Premier League if he joins the North London club.

Spurs could use Andrea Cambiaso

It is no secret that they need more quality at left back. They have recently been linked with players like Andrew Robertson. They need to replace Ben Davies and find an upgrade on Destiny Udogie.

Cambiaso could be the ideal acquisition. He has been a reliable performer in the Italian top flight, and multiple clubs are keen on him. According to a report from Tutto Juve, Tottenham have ‘expressed interest’ in signing the player.

Cambiaso would be a superb signing

He will cost around £43 million in the summer. However, the asking price could drop if Juventus fails to secure Champions League qualification next season. Tottenham have the financial muscle to pay £43 million for the player, and it remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature.

He is a reliable defender, and he will help them going forward as well. He can operate as a wing-back and a defensive winger. Cambiaso has 3 goals and 4 assists to his name this season.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be tempting for the Italian international. He has the qualities to thrive in England, and he could establish himself as a key player for Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the North London club needs to secure Premier League safety to attract top-quality players like him. They are currently 17th in the league table, just one point above the drop zone.

Micky van de Ven's future

“My information is” a positive shift on one Spurs contract will surely have fans buzzing - The Boy Hotspur
Description

Tottenham has been in a surprise relegation battle in the 2025/26 Premier League season with just a few games left, but recent wins have improved their odds of staying up. More than one player’s future appears closely tied to whether they remain in the top flight. Micky van de Ven has roughly three years remaining on his current deal, with no release clause reported.

Micky’s salary is in the region of £90,000–£100,000 per week, and Tottenham would likely demand a significant fee, and reports have mentioned £60M–£100M+ if he were sold.

Micky van de Ven is contracted to Tottenham Hotspur until 30 June 2029, a six-year deal signed upon his arrival from Wolfsburg in August 2023.

A recent report from journalist Ben Jacobs, as of ~2–3 days ago, indicates van de Ven is “extremely open” to signing a new contract if Spurs avoid relegation this season. He is reportedly very happy with current manager Roberto De Zerbi, whose arrival has boosted both his mood and the team’s survival chances.

“You have a profile like Micky Van de ven that Spurs really want to fight to keep if they go down. That’s going to be very difficult, but I tell you something, if Tottenham stay up, my information is that Micky Van de Ven is extremely open signing a new deal.

“Now he’s very happy with Roberto De Zerbi as manager, and De Zerbi coming in has enhanced the chances of Tottenham staying up, that Van de Ven signs a new deal, and [Cristian] Romero still goes.”

At 6’4″ with exceptional pace for a centre-back, he excels in recovery defending, covering ground, and contributing offensively. It is worth noting that he’s scored goals from set pieces and open play. Micky’s stats are impressive: with roughly 32 Premier League starts, 4 goals, 1 assist, high minutes (~2,773 in PL), solid tackling/interceptions/clearances, and involvement in clean sheets. He’s been a regular starter under varying managers.

Our View

As ever, this news from Ben Jacobs has been grasped in the most positive light. The core message is that he’d be keen to sign a new deal. But that’s only if we stay up. That’s a pretty one-sided take. One could equally say that Micky is off, without a look over his shoulder, were we to go down.
