Former Rangers star Graham Roberts has revealed he is battling prostate cancer - with the Ibrox great now aiming to raise money via a fundraiser set up by his daughter to treat the illness.

The 66-year-old spent two season with the Light Blues between 1986 and 1988, scoring three goals in 69 appearances to help Graeme Souness' all-conquering side win both the league title and a Scottish League Cup.

A no-nonsense defender who was renowned for his leadership on the pitch, Roberts arrived in Govan following a successful six-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur, where he won two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup in 1984.

After leaving North London, the six-time capped England international then moved to English rivals Chelsea and was part of the side that lifted the old Second Division title in 1989.

He also turned out for West Brom and a string of English lower league clubs before hanging up his boots in 1999. Roberts embarked on a coaching career thereafter and later had a spell in charge of Clyde and the Nepal national team.

Graham Roberts provides health update amid ongoing prostate cancer battle

In a heart-breaking message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he has provided an update on his fight against prostate cancer and has asked fans for donations for the charity, Prostate United ahead of taking on a challenge.

His post read: “I'm undergoing radiotherapy treatment and brachytherapy for prostate cancer and would love to raise money for this charity.

“This October, my daughter is walking 5km each day and I am going to try and do as much as I can as well. Please donate to this," followed by a link to the fundraising page.”

On the Prostate Cancer website, Hollie wrote: “My dad Graham Roberts is currently undergoing radiotherapy treatment and brachytherapy for prostate cancer.

“Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes - that’s half a football match. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

“This October, I’m joining Prostate United by walking, 5km every day with my fellow football fans to help save men’s lives. Dad is also going to try and walk each week as well after his treatment.

“Sponsor me to help fund lifesaving research for men and their families affected by this disease. Thank you.”

Summer signing Mikey Moore made his Rangers debut against Alloa Athletic at the weekend, slipping straight into the starting lineup for the Premier Sports Cup clash at Ibrox.

Moore, who recently celebrated his 18th birthday, signed for the Light Blues on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the month. Brought in the bolster Rangers’ creativity, the winger wasted no time contributing to the goalscoring action on Saturday.

Moore provided the assist for Rangers’ opening goal as Nedim Bajrami got their side ahead just 13 minutes into the clash. Russell Martin praised Moore’s ‘intent with the ball’ after the match and told the media he planned to ‘keep him free’ and ‘let him express himself’ on the pitch.

Mikey Moore ready for European action with Rangers

Moore spoke to the media after his Rangers debut, with focus now shifted to their Champions League play-off clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday.

The Light Blues will host the Belgian side at Ibrox for the first leg of this high stakes clash and Moore is ready to do his bit for the team, should he be called upon during the match.

“It’s a massive game, as every game is when you play for Rangers so I’m excited for it. I saw some of the games in the earlier rounds and it’s been good to qualify so it’s a massive opportunity for me and all the boys so yeah, I can’t wait to go out there.”

Mikey Moore on Ibrox atmosphere ahead of huge Rangers clash

Moore was then asked whether he made the trip to Ibrox last December, when the Gers hosted Tottenham in their Europa League clash. The game ended 1-1 thanks to an opening goal from Hamza Igamane but Dejan Kulusevski clawed the equaliser back later on. The gripping clash brought the noise in Glasgow as Rangers were unfazed by the Premier League and the return of former rival manager Ange Postecoglou after his departure from Celtic.

Moore admitted he did not travel with Spurs as he was out injured at the time but heard from his teammates inside the dressing room about the electric atmosphere at Ibrox.

“At the time I was out for a bit so I couldn’t come up but I was watching on the TV, I was fuming that I couldn’t [make it],” Moore continued. “When they came back, they said it was one of the best atmospheres they’ve ever played at. So I think when I heard about Rangers, that came straight into my mind and I remembered all the good things the boys said so I can’t wait to play in that sort of atmosphere.”

Rangers will get the first leg of their play-off clash with Club Brugge underway on Tuesday, August 19th at 8pm. Martin and co will be hoping to snatch an early advantage, similar to their previous wins over Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen.

A man with a foot in both Rangers and Tottenham camps reckons the Light Blues have struck gold with their recruit from Spurs.

Mikey Moore’s international clearance has been granted and he debuted on Saturday in a 4-2 Premier Sports Cup win against Alloa Athletic. It’s a timely introduction for the winger, giving boss Russell Martin more options ahead of Champions League play-off clashes against Club Brugge. There is also a four point gap in the Premiership to claw back and derby against Celtic to navigate before August is out.

Former Rangers and Tottenham star Alan Hutton follows both his ex sides closely, on punditry duty for Premier Sports at Ibrox on Saturday. Having watched Moore develop and be rewarded with a new deal at Tottenham, he believes the recently turned 18-year-old has the talent to get Rangers fans off their seat. Hutton also reckons he will have the mentality to cope with the demands of Rangers, having experienced similar at his parent side.

Alan Hutton on why Mikey Moore is strong Rangers signing from Tottenham

The ex Scotland international said: “It’s been building up, fans been waiting for weeks to see him. I think he comes as a guy with so much potential and for me what I love about him is he plays with such freedom. At one so young he believes in his ability, he can play right across that front line.

“I like him on the left because I think he can take the ball in, he wants to come inside, he wants to link up, he moves with real pace and he's clever. He can see a pass and he wants to get on the end of things so I can imagine why the Rangers fans are desperate because they know what he's capable of. So I'm really looking forward to seeing him because there's some huge games coming up for Rangers.

“I know they'll be focusing on this one but in the weeks to come he will be needed and if you give you that little spark, that's something different to unlock a defence. That's what Rangers have been looking for.

Seamless transition from Rangers to Tottenham

“He’s playing in front of huge crowds down there, big stadiums, environments that he's going to thrive in. It's probably the next level for him now, stepping out, coming to a club where the expectation is all so high to go and prove himself. And I just think he's got all the qualities needed to be a top professional and I think he'll do well here.

Former St Johnstone and Queen’s Park boss Callum Davidson was also on the panel and added: “He's a young lad, there's a lot of pressure playing here as well. Alan knows probably more than anybody, there's a lot of pressure playing here.

“So hopefully we can see his attacking player, hopefully you can see him go past people, excite the Rangers fans. That's what they're looking for.

Rangers are closing in on the signing of Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Mikey Moore on a season-long loan.

The Europa League winners will send the 17-year-old attacking starlet out a first senior loan spell this season and Ibrox is his expected destination after Russell Martin held direct talks with Spurs official to convince them that a move to Rangers would aid he development best.

And despite stiff competition from a host of English Championship clubs including Sheffield United and Hull City, the Light Blues are understood to be strong favourites to land Moore’s signature.

The Daily Telegraph report that ‘there has been a lot of interest’ in the England youth international, who has made a dozen first-team appearances for the North London club.

Moore made history at Spurs when, at 17 years and 172 days, he became England’s youngest-ever scorer in a major competition when he netted against Elfsborg in the Europa League - breaking a record set by the legendary Jimmy Greaves.

Tottenham were keen to keep hold of Moore this term but new boss Thomas Frank has reluctantly agreed to let him head out on loan for more regular game time. He was omitted from the pre-season tour of Asia to discuss a temporary switch to Glasgow.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Moore

Former Spurs and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou admitted Moore’s rapid rise had come quicker than expected last year. He stated: “We’ve exposed Mikey a hell of a lot more than I thought we would at the start of the year.

“He only just started playing Under-21 football last year and he had some injuries, didn’t play a lot. It was kind of touch-and-go at the start of the year, do we let him bed in with the 21s or give him a loan or keep him with us?

“But my thing was to let him train for a year, train with men, train in the first team environment and see how he adapts.

“At the end of that, he’ll still be 17 or 18 and we can make decisions, but he’s played a lot more than we thought. But he’s very much a part of our set-up in the first-team and he’s training every day.”

Spurs ‘happy’ to send Moore on loan to Rangers

According to TBR Football’s chief corresponded Graeme Bailey, Tottenham appreciate what they have heard from Martin and are happy for one of their brightest young talents to head north of the border.

Spurs recently appointed Stuart Lewis, who was Moore’s Under-18s coach, and he’s been tasked with integrating academy prospects into the senior squad.

Moore would face stiff competition for a starting place with the Lilywhites currently well-stocked in the wide areas.

Former Rangers coach Cameron Campbell has landed a major job at Tottenham Hotspur as part of Thomas Frank's new-look backroom staff.

Campbell, who has been working in RB Leipzig’s academy for the past 18 months, will now return to the UK and link up with the former Brentford boss at the Premier League giants in North London.

The 33-year-old previously worked at Auchenhowie for over three years as Rangers Under-18s' Professional Phase Coach, tasked with overseeing the professional development programme for young players.

The Lossiemouth-born coach was recruited by Light Blues after starting his career at Aberdeen where he worked his way up through the youth system from assistant manager of the Undr-17s to manager of their development side.

From there, he joined the Right to Dream Academy in 2018 - a fruitful youth system based in Ghana which has multiple locations across the globe - which has produced the likes of current Ibrox star Mohamed Diomande along with Mohammed Kudus and Simon Adingra.

In February last year, Campbell took the decision to leave Glasgow after the opportunity to work at the Bundesliga side cropped up. He has performed the role of Head of Player Development in Germany, focused on aiding players with the transition of moving from youth level into first-team football.

He will now work with the senior Spurs squad as Individual Development Coach following Danish boss Frank’s official unveiling as Ange Postecoglou’s successor, with Tottenham announced backroom staff rejig last night.

It’s claimed Frank has been impressed with Campbell’s work in Scotland and abroad. He became a popular figure at Rangers and was even credited by UEFA for his research into crossing throughout the 2021/22 Champions League technical report.

A Tottenham statement read: "Following the recent appointment of Thomas Frank as our new Head Coach, we can now confirm the full composition of our men’s first team coaching staff ahead of the new season.

"Further to the previously-announced arrivals of Justin Cochrane (First Team Assistant Coach), Chris Haslam (Head of Performance & First Team Assistant Coach), Andreas Georgson (First Team Assistant Coach) and Joe Newton (First Team Coach Analyst), we can confirm that Matt Wells will remain on the coaching staff as First Team Assistant Coach.

"In addition, we welcome Cameron Campbell as First Team Individual Development Coach and Fabian Otte as First Team Goalkeeper Coach – they arrive following spells at RB Leipzig and Liverpool respectively.”

After leaving Rangers last year, Campbell signed off by posting a heartfelt message. He wrote on social media: “Privileged to have spent 3.5 years at RFC Youth working with some brilliant people on & off the pitch. An incredible opportunity that I never took for granted, from watching academy lads play for Rangers & forging careers in the game to winning the U18 League & Scottish Youth Cup.

“Overwhelmed by the messages I’ve received from players, parents and staff which have all been greatly appreciated.”

It has already been a busy transfer window for Rangers and new head coach Russell Martin and supporters are expecting plenty more new faces to arrive at Ibrox over the next few weeks.

The club have already completed the signings of Bournemouth midfielder Joe Rothwell and and Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez on permanent transfers as well as Cherries’ full back Max Aarons on a season long loan. They follow on from the addition of former Dundee playmaker Lyall Cameron who signed a pre-contract agreement earlier this year.

Plenty of other stars have been linked with moves to Glasgow and one of the biggest names on the lips of fans is England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. However, another former England stopper believes signing a new keeper is ‘not a priority’ for the Gers and has instead tipped one of his former clubs are a more likely destination.

Former Leeds United keeper tips Aaron Ramsdale for Elland Road switch instead of Rangers transfer

The former Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson doesn’t believe Ramsdale will be moving to Rangers this summer. That’s because the 41 times capped England international believes Jack Butland’s presence at Ibrox means that signing a new keeper will not be a priority for Russell Martin.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson said: “Jack Butland is contracted until 2027. He’s proved what he can do with some outstanding performances in European competitions last season.

“Jack Butland is a good goalkeeper, and he’s a number one goalkeeper. I don’t think the priority for Rangers is replacing Jack Butland. Aaron Ramsdale, I’ve gone on record before, I’d love to see him go to Leeds.

“For Ramsdale, I’m not sure at this stage of his career, with the World Cup coming up and wanting to get back into the England reckoning, that a move to Rangers would be ideal. For Rangers, I don’t see that being a priority when they’ve got a goalkeeper of Butland’s quality.”

Aaron Ramsdale’s Rangers transfer chances assessed

It may very well be the case that Robinson is right about the chances of the England international making a move to Ibrox. The former Sheffield United stopper left Arsenal to move to Russell Martin’s Southampton last summer, signing a four year contract for reported £25 million fee.

With the Saints having been relegated to the EFL Championship it is likely that they would be willing to part with the 27-year old but, with three years remaining on his current contract, they would also likely expect to to recoup most of if not all of the fee they paid for him. That would certainly put him out of Rangers’ current price range.

With Jack Butland at Ibrox and Ramsdale likely to command a significant transfer fee it’s fair to assume that the Glasgow club may very well look to spend what money they have available in the window strengthening in other areas of the park.

Clubs across Scotland are back in pre-season training with the start of the 2025/26 Premiership season fast approaching for both Celtic and Rangers.

The Hoops’ had a warm up match with fellow Glasgow side Queen’s Park yesterday evening while Russell Martin’s team are due to take on Club Brugge tomorrow. The Gers’ are first in competitive action later this month with their UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Panathinaikos while Celtic will have to wait till the start of August and their first league match against St Mirren.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window remains open and both clubs have already been active in bringing in new faces. Another could soon be set to sign at Ibrox while the champions have set a firm price tag on one of their current stars amid reported interest from England’s Premier League. Here are the latest Celtic and Rangers transfer news headlines:

Celtic ‘set’ £25m asking price on star attacker with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Brentford all linked

Per a report from Football Insider, any club interested in signing Daizen Maeda from Celtic this summer will have to pay a transfer fee of £25 million. The Japanese forward reportedly has interest from three London based Premier League clubs in Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Brentford.

There is also apparent interest from further afield with Turkish giants Fenerbahce also said to be interested in signing the 27-year old. A fee of £25 million would represent the joint second highest received by the Hoops’, equalling Kieran Tierney’s 2019 move to Arsenal and Jota’s 2023 transfer to Al-Ittihad.

Maeda scored 34 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions for club and country last season. He scored 16 times in the Scottish Premiership which made him the joint runner-up, along with Dundee’s Simon Muray, in to Golden Boot winner Cyriel Dessers who netted 18 times.

Rangers ‘close to agreeing’ loan deal for Wolves defender

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has reported that Rangers are ‘close to agreeing’ a deal with English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers that would see defender Nasser Djiga move to Ibrox on loan. He claims it would be a straight loan, with no option to buy, for the 22-year old centre back.

He wrote on X: “UPDATE: Rangers are close to agreeing a loan deal for Wolves centre-back Nasser Djiga. It’s understood any deal would be straight season-long loan. #RFC hope to have the Burkina Faso international over for a medical in the coming days.”

https://x.com/AnthonyRJoseph/status/1941120660958503155

Djiga is a full international having earned eight caps for Burkina Faso already in his career. Wolves signed him earlier this year from Red Star Belgrade who themselves brought him in following a loan spell at Basel in Switzerland.

He would becomes Russel Martin’s fourth signing as Rangers boss following the arrivals Joe Rothwell, Emmanuel Fernandez and Max Aarons. It would be the fifth new arrival overall with Lyall Cameron also arriving having agreed a pre-contract move from Dundee earlier this year.

Celtic star Daizen Maeda is attracting attention from a number of clubs south of the border after an incredible individual campaign which saw him rack up 33 goals and 12 assists in 51 matches across all competitions.

The Japanese forward was pivotal in helping Brendan Rodgers’ side to a domestic double and also showcased his quality on Europe’s elite stage with four goals at Champions League level. It marks a career best season for Maeda since arriving from Yokohama F. Marinos in 2022 and has made the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United take notice of the 27-year-old as they aim to make huge improvements in the Premier League during the 2025/26 season after a hugely underwhelming league campaign last time out.

Jose Mourinho’s side Fenerbache, who finished runners-up in the Turkish Super Liga last term, are also thought to be among the contenders to sign Maeda, with Record Sport even claiming that a £21m offer could be in the pipeline for a man ‘touted’ as a Spurs and Hammers option. Brendan Rodgers has hinted in the past that he may be forced to sell some of his best talents this summer. However, Maeda’s latest comments will likely come as great reading for Celtic supporters, who will hope to have their starman at Parkhead for at least another season.

Daizen Maeda outlines comments on Celtic exit links

Daizen Maeda has claimed that there is still room for improvement at Celtic despite a stellar campaign which saw the Hoops win a double. The season notably ended in heartbreak with a Scottish Cup defeat to Aberdeen, while in Europe despite an improved showing, the club crashed out before reaching the knockout stage after a round-of-16 play-off defeat to newly crowned German champions Bayern Munich.

Maeda said: "I really enjoyed playing in the Champions League this season because there were so many games and it gave us a lot of different challenges.I think the new format has been great and I am excited to try it again this upcoming season. It helped me improve.

"We played some great teams. Personally, I actually thought the best side we played was Atalanta because they didn't appear to have any weaknesses. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were very strong, but they had some weaknesses in their team, but when we played Atalanta, there was nothing for us to work on.

“When we faced Dortmund, we chose to go head-on with them and lost seven goals. It was this defeat that made us realise that it is unrealistic to go toe-for-toe against strong teams at this stage. That is why we learned from our mistakes and turned to a pragmatic approach. I scored four goals and was happy with my performances.”

Commenting on the Scottish Cup final defeat, Maeda added: "We had a chance to win the treble, but lost the Scottish Cup Final on the last day of the season so I still think we have room for improvement at Celtic. Personally, although everyone spoke about how I scored more goals, I think my increase in assists were more satisfying for me.

"I like to defend too. It's muscle memory for me. When the team loses the ball, because I am the first line of defence, my body will instinctively start chasing back. This defensive awareness has been deeply rooted in my bones and I don't need to think about it."

Champions League qualification could play crucial role in Daizen Maeda future

Celtic performed admirably in the Champions League to finish in 21st out of 36 teams. They hammered Slovan Bratislava 5-1 and earned victories against BSC Young Boys and RB Leipzig at Parkhead while earning a point against then Europa League holders Atalanta, Belgian champions Club Brugge and 2024 Croatian champions Dinamo Zabreg.

Daizen Maeda was particularly prevalent in that competition and will be desperate to compete in it again after last season’s showing. However, Champions League qualification is far from a formality for the Hoops, who will have to play a two-legged play-off to ensure their place in the competitions, due to Scotland’s low UEFA Co-efficient.

Winning that fixture could prove decisive in their quest to keep the 27-year-old as Maeda begins preparing himself for the 2026 World Cup with Japan in North America.

Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is on the lookout for his next managerial role of his career after being sacked as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 59-year-old was relieved of his duties on 6 June, exactly two years on from his arrival in North London despite guiding the Lillywhites to their first major honour in 17 years. A club statement from the board explained that Postecoglou will always be remembered for guiding the team to victory against Manchester United in the Europa League final. They could not base their decision solely on "emotions aligned to this triumph.”

The Spurs board explained: “"We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.

“However, the board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the club for a change to take place. Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. At times there were extenuating circumstances - injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.”

What went wrong for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

Ange Postecoglou is known for playing an exciting brand of football with a high-line and plenty of intensity, and it was exactly this which made him so popular at Celtic as he lifted five major honours in two hugely successful seasons. This style transferred excellently to Tottenham when he first made the move as he became the first manager in history to win the Manager of the Month award three times in a row at the start of a Premier League season as Spurs remained unbeaten all the way to 6 November while notably achieving 23 points from their first nine matches.

However, after a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea injuries and results began to take a turn for the worse, and a Spurs side that seemed destined to finish in the top four ultimately slumped to fifth to finish outside the Champions League while in May losing four league games in a row for the first time in 20 years. Despite spending big in the summer of 2024, the same patterns continued throughout last season, as Spurs slumped to 17th - their lowest finish since 1977 while losing 22 games in a single league season for the first time since before World War Two.

Postecoglou cited injuries as the main reason for his team’s problems and prioritised the cup competitions as Spurs became Europa League winners for the first time since 1984. However, despite winning a large section of fans over with the triumph, the Spurs board decided it was time for a change.

What next for Ange Postecoglou?

Celtic icon Ange Postecoglou has been touted by some supporters as a replacement for Brendan Rodgers, if the former Leicester boss doesn’t sign an extension to his contract which expires at the end of next season. However, Former Celtic and Tottenham defender Ramon Vega - who lifted the treble in 2001, is less sure about the chances of their being a second era of Angeball as he slammed Daniel Levy for making a huge mistake in sacking him.

Vega explained, via Record Sport: "Listen, from my point of view, some very, very top teams will go for him. Once you understand the difficulty of managing a team like Spurs, and winning a Cup after 17 years, you realise this man is a winner and can create something special. He just needs to be supported in the right way. In one way, it's actually good for him, because the toxicity we had at Spurs - I don't think that would be good for him anyway. He deserves much better than this, and much bigger as well.

"And I think, mark my words, he will go to a bigger level. If he can go to Celtic, it's always nice because he's been there already. Will he go there in one year's time? I think he might be snapped up beforehand by somebody. Celtic is a different ball game from Spurs. He went into the Champions League - that’s a completely different tournament. But at the same time, he's put down a marker now. He did a good job for Celtic, and he’s done a really remarkable job winning a trophy with Spurs. If he goes back, he’ll return with serious Premier League experience. That would bring massive added value to Celtic in Europe. Celtic and Champions League nights – they’re among the best in the world. Just Celtic is Celtic."

With June now fully underway and the transfer window open for business, Celtic and Rangers are looking to push on with new signings and potential player sales ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Brendan Rodgers is focused on tightening the screws in his double-winning side, while new Rangers manager Russell Martin is looking to kickstart this exciting new era at Ibrox.

The club appointed the former Light Blues defender as the first manager of this new chapter, following the official 49ers Enterprises takeover.

Business can be expected from both clubs this summer, so let’s take a look at some of the latest news.

Rangers starlet due a medical with Newcastle United

Rangers rising star Oliver Goodbrand is set to embark on a new chapter this summer as he prepares for a move away from Scotland. According to Craig Hope of the Mail, the 16-year-old has been linked with a switch to Newcastle United and is due a medical with the Premier League outfit.

Goodbrand also received interest from overseas but he is due to enter the Newcastle academy next season.

This update comes following an initial report from Record Sport back in April, when it was reported that the Magpies had made the left-back a ‘top summer target’ for their emerging talent pool.

While a transfer fee will not be involved in the move, Newcastle are willing to pay Rangers training compensation for Goodbrand if all goes ahead with an Ibrox exit in the coming weeks.

The teen is a highly-rated rising talent at Rangers and earned B team action last season when he was just 15.

Chris Sutton takes swipe over Ange Postecoglou news

Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been dismissed from his position with Tottenham Hotspur, just 16 days after leading them to their first major trophy in 17 years.

Despite a dismal run in the Premier League, which ended up being Tottenham’s worst on record, Postecoglou spearheaded the North London side to the Europa League title, beating Manchester United in a solid final performance.

However, Spurs have opted to pursue a new manager, announcing the decision based on performances as a whole since Postecoglou’s arrival from Parkhead in 2023.

“Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties,” Tottenham wrote in an official statement.

“The Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place.”

Spurs continued that while their Europa League victory goes down as one of the club’s greatest achievements, they ‘cannot base a decision on emotions aligned to this triumph’.

Chris Sutton has called out the decision to let Postecoglou go. The pundit wrote on social media: “Spurs wanted a manager who could win them a major trophy… they get one and then sack him.”

Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League table, with only the three relegated teams below them. With a hefty 22 defeats from 38 games played, the 2024/25 season goes down as the club’s worst ever Premier League finish.
