The diminutive midfielder is out of contract with Lille in the summer and his performances in Ligue 1 over the years have caught the eye of many potential suitors, with Gomes being dubbed as "phenomenal" on social media.

Gomes has spent five years in France, which have seen him develop into the player that he is today. A central midfielder, Gomes is comfortable playing in either a slightly advanced or deeper role and has, in his career, been deployed out wide before. Gomes’ form with Lille saw him make his England debut under the interim reign of Lee Carsley in 2024.

Prior to joining Lille, Gomes spent three years on the books at Manchester United who, according to CaughtOffside, are also interested in the midfielder. Spurs, however, may be able to convince Gomes with the already acquired young core of midfield talents that he could join in north London. It has also been reported that signing Gomes is the "personal mission" of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Alongside the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, Gomes could be part of a brilliant midfield for years to come. “As I reported a few weeks ago, my understanding on Ange Postecoglou isn’t win the Europa League or bust, it’s a case of if Spurs get Champions League that massively changes their summer and their project, but it doesn’t guarantee Postecoglou will stay in a job.

“Andoni Iraola has been high in Tottenham’s thinking, you have Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva and then Edin Terzic may come into the thinking as well.

“It’s possible, not definite yet, but there’s potential that Fabio Paratici will re-join the club, and I think Paratici is inclined to put Terzic forwards.”

Terzic, who remains out of work after departing Dortmund at the end of last season, has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League this term.

The 42-year-old tactician previously worked at West Ham United as Slaven Bilic’s assistant from August 2015 to November 2017.

Labelled as ‘one of the best young managers in Europe’, Terzic led Dortmund to a Champions League final last season and came close to winning the Bundesliga title in 2022/23.

He is believed to be open to the prospect of coaching in the Premier League, having spent almost his entire post-playing career in Germany.

Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the Europa League final on Thursday evening as they saw off Bodo/Glimt. Spurs went into the game in Norway as the favourites to progress to the final after winning 3-1 in the first leg in north London.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Bodo / Glimt 2-0 to secure a place in the Europa League Final, which maintains their dreams of qualifying for next year's Champions League.

Spurs set out with two defensive midfielders on what was a wet evening on an artificial surface in the northern reaches of Norway. The visitors looked relatively comfortable in the first-half, as Bodo / Glimt didn't rush to get themselves back into the tie.
