Amanda Staveley was a surprise guest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday amid ‘major’ takeover interest, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed.

The former Newcastle United co-owner attended the NFL clash between the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns with members of Joe Lewis’ family, amid reports she is spearheading a Qatari-backed consortium interested in buying the north London club.

Nixon claims Staveley and her backers would be keen on acquiring Tottenham ‘if a deal was right’ and have major interest despite Spurs’ initial stance.

Tottenham owners have insisted the club is not for sale at the moment, after rejecting two expressions of interest, including one from Staveley’s PCP International Finance Limited.

Tottenham’s takeover speculation intensified last month following Daniel Levy’s unexpected departure as executive chairman.

While Peter Charrington has since been appointed the club’s new non-executive chairman, Tottenham have consistently maintained that ownership will remain unchanged, with ENIC retaining its 86.58% stake.

UK businessman Joe Lewis and his family hold the majority of ENIC, with the remainder owned by a group of minority investors.

Staveley has been persistently linked with a bid to acquire Tottenham through PCP International Finance over the past 12 months, following her sale of a 10% stake at St James’ Park in July last year.

According to reports, any potential takeover of Spurs, no matter the bidder, would reportedly have to exceed £3.5bn in value to be considered acceptable.

Tottenham spent over £180m on new signings in Levy’s final summer at the club, with Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani among the arrivals.

Tottenham Hotspur starlet Archie Gray may be forced to cut his north London career short after Thomas Frank refused to use him once again during the win over Leeds United.

The teenager made the move to north London last summer in a deal worth around £40m, turning down Brentford in the process. Frank, who as at Brentford at the time, is known to be a huge fan of the midfielder, but he has so far failed to show it during his time in charge of the Lilywhites.

It wasn't more clear than Saturday afternoon's trip to Elland Road. In a hard-fought battle, Frank opted against using the man who knows the Yorkshire club better than most, with Gray once again glued to the substitutes' bench.

Gray May Need to Force January Move

There is absolutely no doubting the quality and skill that Gray possesses. As a midfielder, he has a great engine, isn't scared to get stuck in and his ability on the ball is second to none. There is nothing that he can't do, and it's clear as day why the club decided to splash the cash to bring him.

He's also capable of playing as a right-back, providing cover for the excellent Pedro Porro, with Djed Spence viewed primarily as a left-back nowadays, while Ange Postecoglou even used him as a centre-back to great effect at points last season during their injury crisis.

While his versatility could be seen to be a positive trait, it could also be effecting him negatively at Tottenham. There is so much competition for places and quality in the team, that without pinning down a role, others are overtaking him in the pecking order.

Lucas Bergvall has come on leaps and bounds in midfield since joining in the same summer period, while Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and Xavi Simons all have more specialist positions that means they can't be shifted around too much.

Despite being able to play in several positions, Frank continues to leave Gray, who has been described as "phenomenal", out of teams and not feature him at all. So far this season, with seven games played, Gray has mustered 72 minutes of action in the Premier League, appearing as a starter in one game and as a substitute in another, while he has featured for just eight minutes in the Champions League.

If Frank isn't going to start using him, then Gray may need to force himself a move in the January transfer window to start playing again, but also to ensure that his development doesn't stall. Some were tipping him for a surprise spot in the World Cup squad before this season started, and now he's not even a consideration.

While Tottenham are winning games and performing well, there is no reason for Frank to change things. But Gray needs to make himself undeniable again, and the best way to do that is by playing games, whether that's at Spurs or somewhere else.

Tottenham Hotspur may need to drop goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario following his performance in his side's 2-1 win against Leeds United in the Premier League.

Leeds entered the game unbeaten at Elland Road, having picked up a win and two draws against Everton, Newcastle United and Bournemouth respectively. They, along with Sunderland and Burnley, have made a much better start to the season than any of the promoted teams in the last campaign.

They were hosting a Spurs side that, under Thomas Frank, had lost just one of their opening six Premier League campaigns and were also unbeaten in the Champions League. It was the visitors that opened the scoring, when a deflected strike from Mathys Tel sailed beyond Karl Darlow.

The Whites, however, remained in the game and before half-time had levelled the score through Noah Okafor, who signed for the club in the summer. After just over 10 minutes of the second half had been played, Spurs retained the lead through Mohammed Kudus with another deflected strike. The attacker, in scoring, netted his first Premier League goal for Tottenham since joining them from West Ham.

Leeds battled to try and find an equaliser, but were unable to pick up any points against Spurs, who continued their impressive start to the season. Tottenham were solid across the pitch against Leeds, who certainly made the Lilywhites work for their result. There was one particular player, though, who had yet another worrying performance for the North London side.

Vicario Needs To Be Dropped

For Leeds' goal, Okafor could not have missed, tapping the ball into what was basically an empty net from just yards away. The Spurs goalkeeper, Vicario, had dived to save a shot from Brenden Aaronson, but was unable to claim the ball, instead parrying it into Okafor's path.

Vicario, who did not appear particularly confident against Leeds, has been prone to poor games in recent months. The Italian was a particular favourite of Ange Postecoglou, who continously played Vicario when he was fit, almost irrespective of his form.

In the 2025 January transfer window, Spurs signed goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague. The Czech shot-stopper was drafted in for Tottenham during a particularly tough run of fixtures and outside of that brief period, has never really had an extended chance in the first team.

With Frank's tactical influence, Tottenham have certainly seemed more settled in defence than they did under Postecoglou. As such, it might be ideal timing to give Kinsky a run of games and see what level of performance he can produce with a more reassuring defence in front of him.

Vicario's shaky performance against Leeds was noticed by a number of Tottenham fans, with a multitude of comments made about the Italian.

"Vicario. No pressure on him at all. Boots the ball to their keeper. He is so frustrating."

"Vicario is such a concern...last person who should be in the leadership group."

The Spurs Watch claimed that "Vicario needs to be dropped," as another said that Vicario, along with midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, need to "pack (their) bags." One fan stated that Vicario had "been awful for weeks" and as such, needed to be dropped, with another supporter simply describing him as "shocking."

Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur will go head-to-head in the Premier League at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon as both teams look to get back to winning ways.

Daniel Farke's side have had a mixed start to the season so far and come into this game after conceding an injury-time equaliser against Bournemouth to draw 2-2 last time out, while Thomas Frank's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves at home at home, before battling back from 2-0 down against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League to draw 2-2 in midweek.

The Whites will be without rapid winger Daniel James for several weeks after he suffered an ankle injury in training this week, which is good news after initial fears it could be more serious.

Wilfried Gnonto could return after missing recent games with a calf problem, but goalkeeper Lucas Perri is still likely to miss out after suffering a thigh injury shortly after making his debut.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

"(Daniel) James is out for a few weeks. He rolled his ankle in training and is likely to be out for 4 to 6 weeks. We expect him back after the November international break. If he is available before, it would be a bonus.

"Lucas Perri is back in team training since yesterday. Good news, but it's too early to involve him. We expect him after that [the international break]."

"Romero is fit and available and he will start tomorrow. That's positive. It was contact to the foot. The medical staff did well with the turnaround. Dom the minor procedure went well and Kolo Muani has been on the pitch the past two days so that's a positive. He's not available tomorrow yet for the squad.

"Kota [Takai] is better and better. He has trained fully with the team for a week to 10 days."

Their summer transfer window was busy as they brought in Kota Takai, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, but the north London side are willing to add even more quality to their squad in the new year, and 23-year-old Hackney has emerged as someone they are keeping a close eye on.

Hackney, who has been described as "hugely talented" by former manager Michael Carrick, looked set to leave the Riverside Stadium in the summer after a deal worth around £20m was agreed with Ipswich Town.

However, after Premier League interest during the window, he opted to reject that move and wait, only for an exit not to materialise before the end of the transfer window.

Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Yves Bissouma and Archie Gray are currently competing for minutes in central midfield, so Hackney would certainly not be guaranteed regular game time. Tottenham have held preliminary talks about a move and the player would prioritise a move to England over anywhere else if he were to leave Real Madrid, but his wish currently is to find a way to establish himself back as a key player for the 14-time European champions.

Should his situation not improve between now and the new year, then he will have a decision and the temptation of the Premier League could be too much for him to ignore.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has seen a resurgence in form over the last year or so, but he's going through a difficult run of form at the moment, and it could be time for a spell out of the side.

Spence enjoyed a bit of a revival under Ange Postecoglou last season, when he returned to the club following a loan spell at Genoa. The former Nottingham Forest defender's career wasn't heading in the right direction with some failed loan spells, but playing regularly with Genoa against some big sides such as Inter and AC Milan allowed him to quickly develop.

Postecoglou showed immense faith in the full-back, giving him an opportunity to express himself on a regular basis. This season, Spence has predominantly been in the Tottenham side, whether that be in his natural position at right-back, or on the left where he's been deployed at times this term.

Spence Should be Dropped by Tottenham

Spence has being played at left-back most recently, including against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The England international has been clearly favoured ahead of Destiny Udogie on the left-hand side, starting five Premier League games this campaign, while the Italian full-back has started just twice in England's top flight.

Spence produced a disappointing performance against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday, with journalist Alasdair Gold giving him a 4/10 rating. The respected reporter suggested that he's 'going through a sticky run' at the moment, and it's not as if Thomas Frank doesn't have options to change things up at left-back.

Udogie has produced some excellent performances during his time at Spurs, and he'll be chomping at the bit to become a regular starter. It's time for Frank to bring Udogie back into the side, with Spence struggling, but it's important to say that it's perfectly normal for a player to go on a difficult run.

Spence is still an incredibly useful player due to his versatility, and he can still provide cover on either side, but with Spurs drawing three of their last four games in all competitions, Frank needs to make some alterations to his side. Switching Spence back to right-back might be better for him, but it's going to be difficult for Frank to drop Pedro Porro.

Alasdair Gold says Djed Spence is ‘going through a sticky run at the moment’ after the England international failed to impress in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt.

Thomas Frank’s side rescued a late draw in Norway on Tuesday night as they overturned a two-goal deficit to grab a late point in the second game of their Champions League campaign.

The Lilywhites, who beat Bodo/Glimt home and away on their way to winning the Europa League last term, saw the hosts miss an opportunity to go in front in the first half, with Kasper Hogh blazing a penalty over the bar.

Spurs conceded twice in a 13-minute spell in the second half, with Jens Petter Hauge netting a brace, but Micky van de Ven responded minutes later when he headed in Pedro Porro’s cross.

The game was levelled in the final minute of normal time when Jostein Gundersen turned a cross into his own net, giving Spurs their fourth point of the Champions League campaign.

Gold, writing for football.london, gave Spence a 4/10 for his display against Bodo/Glimt and claimed the full-back struggled in possession on Wednesday night:

Spence completed 80% of his passes (36/45) against Bodo/Glimt, lost possession 15 times, failed to deliver an accurate cross and connected with only one of his three long balls.

Spurs replaced the one-cap England international late in the second half with Destiny Udogie, and the Italian almost made an instant impact when his header rattled the crossbar as they searched for a late equaliser.
