Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for a Championship starlet, but they are not the front-runners for his signature.

According to reports, Tottenham’s transfer policy has shifted over recent months, with the club now prioritising signing proven and established players.

However, that does not mean that Spurs are not continuing to scour the market for uncut gems, as we saw with their permanent signing of Mathys Tel and their acquisition of Kota Takai in the summer.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are turning their attention to a 16-year-old who is winning admirers with his displays in the Championship.

Tottenham are battling several clubs for Leicester City winger

According to TBR Football, Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga is now on the radar of several top-flight sides, including Tottenham.

Despite being just 16 years of age, he has made 11 appearances in the Championship for the Foxes this season, scoring once and assisting once.

Tottenham Hotspur have been joined in the race for Monga by Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle, who are all monitoring his performances closely.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is revealed that City are currently the front-runners to land the England Under-19 international, who cannot be prevented from leaving by Leicester as he is not eligible to sign a professional contract until he turns 17 next June.

January move on the cards for ‘generational’ Jeremy Monga

TBR Football spoke to expert Graeme Bailey, who revealed that industry experts view the teenager as one of the best young talents in his age group.

The journalist suggested that a January departure from the King Power Stadium looks increasingly likely for Monga.

Bailey said: “Monga is a generational talent. At just 16, he already has more first-team appearances than players like Rio Ngumoh and Max Dowman, who have made huge impacts in the Premier League this season.

“But let’s not forget, Monga has already played in the Premier League and previously turned down approaches before signing his scholarship. Interest remains high, and there is a belief that by January, he could be ready to make a move.

“Leicester are hoping that giving him regular first-team opportunities will convince him to stay until the summer, when he can sign a professional deal. At that point, the club could either sell him or at least secure a fee, rather than risk losing him for minimal compensation.”

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in an experienced Bayern Munich star, who has fallen down Vincent Kompany’s pecking order.

Spurs have a good relationship with Bayern, with the two clubs involved in four different transfer deals over the last two years.

Harry Kane and Eric Dier went from N17 to the Allianz Arena, while Mathys Tel and Joao Palhinha have come in the other direction.

Reports indicate that Tottenham could hold talks with Bayern over a permanent deal for Palhinha in January, but he is not the only player that the Lilywhites are allegedly interested in.

Spurs interested in Bayern Munich centre-back

According to FlashScore, Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in Bayern defender Kim Min-jae, who is no longer a regular starter for the Bavarian side.

It is pointed out that the South Korean has fallen behind in Vincent Kompany’s pecking order, with Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano being the Belgian’s preferred centre-back pairing at the moment.

If the 28-year-old is put up for sale next summer, several clubs across Europe are expected to show interest, with Spurs being one of them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Bundesliga club are open to the idea of selling Kim at the end of the season, but it is explained that they will not make a final decision until the latter stage of the campaign.

How much will Tottenham have to pay for Kim Min-jae and who else is interested?

Flashscore say that the frontrunners at this stage for the centre-back are Inter Milan and AC Milan, who are very keen on the player, given his impressive spell at Napoli.

In the Premier League, Chelsea are also said to be fans of Kim, while Liverpool are believed to be keeping an eye on his situation.

The publication says that Bayern would want the €50m (£44m) they paid for the centre-back in 2023 to be matched in order to cash in on the player.

Description

The changes to Tottenham’s leadership structure continue to happen at a fast pace, with another official leaving the club.

Spurs have made wholesale changes to their leadership off the pitch over the past few months, with the headline act being the resignation of Daniel Levy after 24 years as chairman.

Changes have continued over recent weeks, with Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange being appointed as Tottenham’s sporting directors.

Last week, Spurs confirmed the appointment of Dan Lewindon as the club’s new performance director, and it looks like another position is now vacant.

The club also made changes at the board level just a few days ago, with Spurs appointing Eric Hinson as their new non-executive director.

The Lilywhites have now announced yet another departure from their administrative staff, with the club’s head of football administration and governance, Rebecca Caplehorn, set to leave the club over the coming months.

This news has been reported by journalist Ben Jacobs, who has revealed that Caplehorn will leave the North London club after the January transfer window, bringing an end to her decade-long stay at the club.

Two more technical staff set to be appointed by Spurs

The changes at Spurs this summer have not been restricted to the administrative and boardroom level, but there has also been a complete turnover of the technical staff.

Following the arrival of the new first-team coaching staff and Fabio Paratici’s return, we have heard that at least two more appointments are on the way.

Tottenham receive more positive Archie Gray injury diagnosis after eight-week scare - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now received a positive update on the injury of youngster Archie Gray after early setback fears.

Thomas Frank is currently without ten first-team players, and another injury setback has taken that figure up to eleven.

Archie Gray is the latest Tottenham man to pick up an injury, with reports claiming that the Englishman is set to miss eight weeks of action.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left frustrated with the latest setback, with some even questioning the club’s medical department as injuries continue to pile up.

A fresh report, however, has given Tottenham a bit of hope, with journalist Tom Barclay now stating that Gray is set to miss four weeks of action rather than the initially feared eight.

It is understood that the 19-year-old currently has a calf problem, but he should not be out for too long, with a month now being reported as the expected recovery timeline.

Thomas Frank has yet to provide any update on Gray’s situation, so it remains unclear the exact timeframe the youngster is set to be out for.

MORE SPURS STORIES

November break could ease Tottenham’s injury worries

Should Archie Gray be out for four weeks, then it could be less of a blow for Tottenham, given that the November international break is just around the corner.

Looking at Spurs’ fixtures, they have four matches to play before the break, and Gray could miss all of them.

Tottenham face Newcastle United, Chelsea, Copenhagen and Manchester United in the space of two weeks, and with a two-week international break to follow, Gray and other injured stars could be back in time for the big North London derby against Arsenal.

Description

Reports of another injury have frustrated Tottenham Hotspur fans, with many now raising concerns about the club’s medical department.

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for their Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle United on Wednesday, as they look to go further than they did last season, when they were eliminated in the semi-final.

This midweek tie continues Spurs’ relentless run of playing every three days since the end of the October international break, and they have managed just one win during that period.

Thomas Frank would be hoping his side can make it back-to-back wins at St James’ Park on Wednesday, after their recent 3-0 win over Everton at the Weekend.

The Tottenham boss had hinted at rotating his squad for the Newcastle clash, but his preparations have been disrupted once again after suffering another setback before a ball has even been kicked.

Tottenham fans left frustrated after Archie Gray injury

Archie Gray has picked up an injury and is set to miss at least four weeks of football for Tottenham, with the setback coming just before Wednesday’s tie.

Gray has featured only six times for Tottenham, with three of those being starts, but he is now unavailable for Frank, who is already without ten players through injury.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs fans have been left frustrated by the latest development, with many taking to social media to voice their displeasure.

One Tottenham fan said: “Didn’t we replace the medical team? How are all these injuries still happening? He is not even a starter.”

Another added: “What do these guys do during the week? Are they boxing without headgear during training? It is crazy how this happens under every manager.”

More reactions followed, with one supporter commenting: “Something is off with our fitness department because this happens every season when we lose almost all of our main squad. It always starts when we are in the top four and then everything falls apart.”

Another wrote: “Deja vu, there is something wrong with the training, physio or medical team. This is three years in a row at the same time of the season.”

A further fan stated: “Multiple managers and play styles, yet the same injury crises.” Another concluded: “Change the whole medical department and equipment.”

Spurs are facing a familiar injury crisis under Thomas Frank

This situation is not entirely new to Tottenham, who faced a similar injury crisis under Ange Postecoglou around this time last season.

Those injuries saw Spurs’ campaign collapse as results turned from bad to worse, so, understandably, fans are beginning to feel anxious once again.

Tottenham legend is in competition with Ange Postecoglou for the Celtic job - Spurs Web
Description

A player who made more than 300 appearances for Tottenham could be in line to become the next Celtic head coach.

Celtic announced on Monday that Brendan Rodgers had resigned, and Martin O’Neill is set to take over as the club’s interim head coach until they find a permanent replacement.

It was reported last week that Ange Postecoglou could be a contender for the Celtic job following his sacking by Nottingham Forest.

The update claimed that the former Spurs boss would be open to returning to the Glasgow giants if they made an offer, but it has now been suggested that they could turn to a young manager instead.

Former Tottenham striker could take over as Celtic boss

According to a report in talkSPORT, Spurs legend Robbie Keane has emerged as a contender to replace Rodgers at Parkhead. Keane is considered by many Spurs fans to be one of the club’s greatest strikers of the Premier League era.

He made 306 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur across two spells, scoring 122 goals and registering 32 assists, and he is also the Republic of Ireland’s all-time leading goalscorer, having found the back of the net 68 times in 146 caps for his country.

The 45-year-old is currently working as a manager in Hungary, but he could now land his first big job in the UK.

The former Spurs striker is in charge at Ferencvaros, who he led to the Hungarian title last season, but the club now sit fifth in the table.

Keane previously managed Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League, winning the league title with the latter during the 2023-24 season.

The Tottenham legend also had a brief spell as a player on loan at Celtic from Spurs in the second half of the 2010-2011 season.

Tottenham draw six-man midfielder shortlist ahead of the January transfer window - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have drawn up a midfielder shortlist as they aim to add more creativity to the middle of the park, and some of the biggest names in the Premier League are part of the list.

Xavi Simons has not lived up to his billing since arriving at Tottenham, although it is still early days for the Dutchman, who is still getting used to Premier League football.

Some experts have suggested that Xavi is not a natural playmaker, and it appears that Thomas Frank himself may agree, with the Dane often trying him out at left wing.

It has emerged that the Lilywhites are now eyeing some of the most creative midfielders across the Premier League as they aim to make a splash in the January window.

Tottenham eyeing three Premier League midfielders

This report comes from TEAMtalk, who say that Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is the standout name on Tottenham’s midfielder shortlist for January.

Thomas Frank likes the 23-year-old’s versatility, work-rate and creativity, and even though Villa could demand over £70m for him, Spurs remain ‘very keen’ on the England international.

Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye has also allegedly impressed Tottenham’s scouts with his flair and goal-scoring instinct, with Spurs seeing him as an option that can play either as a number ten or as a winger.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Finally, it is revealed that Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also on Tottenham’s list, with the 21-year-old viewed as a deep-lying playmaker who can improve their starting eleven.

Spurs are also tracking three up-and-coming midfielders

TEAMtalk say that apart from the big names mentioned above, Tottenham’s recruitment department are also looking at untapped and undervalued gems across Europe.

One of those is Rangers’ Nicolas Raskin, who is valued at £16m and seen by Spurs as someone well-suited for the Premier League.

Tottenham are also keeping a close eye on AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit, who is valued at £17.5m, while Frank’s men are also fans of FC Copenhagen’s 19-year-old starlet Victor Froholdt.

Tottenham slap huge price tag on Micky Van de Ven amid Real Madrid and Liverpool interest - Spurs Web
Description

Some of the biggest clubs in Europe are now turning their attention to Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven.

The question of who the most valuable player in the Tottenham squad currently may not be a straightforward one to answer.

Some may feel that it could be Lucas Bergvall, whose value has been put at £110m by one pundit, but with the Swede, one is paying for potential rather than a finished product.

However, Tottenham Hotspur do have a relatively young, world-class player on their hands already, who possesses some unique attributes, and unsurprisingly, he is the man who is attracting a lot of interest.

Race for Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven intensifies

According to Fichajes, Micky van de Ven is quickly becoming one of the most coveted players across Europe.

The centre-back’s brilliant displays this season have not gone unnoticed by elite clubs, with Real Madrid now being joined in the race for the Dutchman by Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

All three clubs are now considering a move for him, and this has allegedly got Spurs to slap a price tag of €100m (£87.8m) on Van de Ven.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report explains that Tottenham view the 24-year-old as a key part of their project and do not wish to lose him.

The outlet confirms what we have heard from other sources by stating that Spurs are now actively working on tying the centre-back down to a new contract.

Thomas Frank has made an encouraging statement on Van de Ven’s future

It was reported two weeks ago that Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham is prioritising tying down Van de Ven to a new contract.

The Dutchman is expected to be the next in line to be offered a new deal after the Lilywhites managed to tie down both Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Ange Postecoglou could be about to manage his third club in six months after Tottenham exit - Spurs Web
Description

Ange Postecoglou didn’t last long at Nottingham Forest but he could land a new job just five months after his Tottenham sacking.

Tottenham Hotspur have been gradually finding their rhythm again this season after parting ways with Ange Postecoglou, despite the Australian’s strong run in Europe before his exit.

Thomas Frank has come in and steadied the ship, guiding Spurs to third place in the Premier League table after Postecoglou’s dismal 17th-place finish last term.

There is still plenty of work to be done, with Frank continuing to reshape the side, while Postecoglou himself has endured a difficult spell since he departed from north London.

Celtic eye Ange Postecoglou return five months after Tottenham exit

Ange Postecoglou made a quick return to Premier League management back in September following his exit from Tottenham in July, but things quickly unravelled.

The Australian took charge of Nottingham Forest, replacing former Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, yet failed to secure a single win in eight games and was dismissed after just 39 days in charge.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are now weighing up an approach for the 60-year-old, with the Scottish champions reportedly keen to bring him back to Glasgow following Brendan Rodgers’ resignation.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is understood that the club are preparing to make contact with Postecoglou to gauge his interest in a remarkable return to Parkhead, following two Premier League sackings in four months with Tottenham and Forest.

Postecoglou’s legacy at Spurs and possible Celtic reunion

Ange Postecoglou will always be remembered as the man who delivered silverware to N17 after a 17-year wait, but back-to-back sackings will have undoubtedly dented his standing in English football.

The Australian has often felt underappreciated, famously referencing Daniel Levy’s comments about wanting to try “something different” after past failures with more established winners.

His recent Premier League record has not done him any favours, and he will now be determined to rebuild his reputation.

A return to Celtic, where he previously thrived and enjoyed immense success, could well be the ideal platform to do just that.

Newcastle vs Tottenham, Carabao Cup preview, team news, and head-to-head record - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham visit St James’ Park on Wednesday night to play the defending champions Newcastle in the 4th round of the Carabao Cup.

Thomas Frank’s men were able to return to winning ways on Sunday after beating Everton 0-3, as a brace from Micky van de Ven and a late third by Pape Sarr ensured they became the first visiting team to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a win.

That was quite an experimental game from Frank, but it was exactly what was needed after a short spell of disappointing football and a winless run since the international break following a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa and a goalless draw against Monaco in the Champions League.

They beat League One side Doncaster Rovers in the third round with a comfortable 3-0 win, but were rather unlucky to draw the defending champions Newcastle United in the next round, especially with it being an away trip.

Newcastle, winners of this competition last season after famously beating Liverpool 2-1 in the final, endured a difficult start to the campaign, going nearly a month without a win.

However, Eddie Howe’s men have since steadied the ship and now find themselves 12th in the League with 12 points from nine games. They are here after beating Bradford City 4-1 in round three, almost a month ago.

What time does Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur kick off?

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, England

Stadium: St James’ Park

Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Head-to-head record

The two sides last met in a pre-season friendly in Seoul, which was also club legend Heung Min Son’s final appearance in a Tottenham shirt. That game ended 1-1.

In the Premier League last season, Newcastle completed the double over Spurs, winning both fixtures 2-1. The away record doesn’t make for pleasant reading either, as Tottenham haven’t won at St James’ Park since October 2021, losing all three visits since by an aggregate score of 12-2.

Thomas Frank also has a poor record against Newcastle from his time at Brentford, winning just one of his previous nine meetings against them.

Tottenham Carabao Cup team news

Thomas Frank confirmed before the Everton clash that Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke are back in training, while Destiny Udogie has yet to return to the grass.

He also revealed that Romero’s and Udogie’s issues aren’t long-term but gave no timeframe for their returns, so updates are expected in his pre-match press conference, although we believe neither is likely to be risked for this one.

Ben Davies, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin all remain sidelined until at least the end of next month, while there has been no mention of Kota Takai’s situation in recent weeks.

Newcastle United team news

Eddie Howe only has three players unavailable: Lewis Hall, Valentino Livramento and Yoane Wissa, with the latter being the closest to a return, although he’s still not expected back before next month.

Predicted Tottenham line-up for Carabao Cup

Vicario, Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Spence, Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel, Kudus.

Since this is a competition where bigger sides tend to rotate, we can expect plenty of changes across midfield and attack. Still, Frank will likely retain a few key names to maintain competitiveness, which makes this one tricky to predict.

Guglielmo Vicario has been in incredible form, though Antonin Kinsky could get a rare outing. Van de Ven appeared to be limping briefly against Everton, although there’s been no mention of any issue. With no real backup defenders available, Frank might still have to risk him.

Up front, Dane Scarlett and Richarlison are both in contention to start, while Mohammed Kudus could replace Brennan Johnson on the right after being subbed early in the win at Everton.

Our prediction

Thomas Frank admitted before the third-round clash with Doncaster that he’s well aware of the fans’ expectations of silverware this season, which is a clear sign he may take this competition seriously.

The Carabao Cup often provides a great opportunity for new managers to win their first trophy, but with Spurs also in the title race, Frank faces a tough balancing act between resting key players and going all in for this fixture.

Both sides have been strong defensively. Tottenham rank second for fewest goals conceded in the Premier League, while Newcastle sit third. So don’t expect a goal fest here as this would rather be a contest defined by midfield battles and physical duels.

Newcastle’s midfield has been very dominant in duels but lacks passing accuracy, ranking just 14th in the league for completed accurate passes. That might tempt Frank to bring in someone like Joao Palhinha to add more physicality in the middle of the park.

Given Tottenham’s excellent away record, which happens to be the best in the league so far, and the confidence from their weekend win, we’re backing them to edge this one.
